South First Bar & Grill is a local favorite in downtown Lufkin. This fits the local small-town…read moreneighborhood bar to a T with the tables surrounded by all the tvs and a bar area with a stage next to it to boot. The bartenders and servers know all the locals which is evident every time me and my coworkers stop in here for happy hours or for dinner. They still give us the attention we need for drink refills and food orders. For drinks, it's mainly beer although they have hard liquor available here. I always stick with Miller Lite since it's cheap and they bring it out quick. As for food, it's mainly burgers and bar eats. The appetizers such as the wings, chips n queso, fried jalapenos, and pretzel bites w/ beer cheese are our favorites. Meanwhile, they do good burgers here which are a favorite amongst the team. Each day will have food specials such as half priced appetizers and $1 wings. Check the menu out for the full details. It's a great place to watch sports and grab drinks/eats or catch live music if it's available. This is part of our rotation whenever we're in Lufkin.

We walked inside and the staff told us we could sit wherever we wanted. Our waitress came over and was very nice and chatted with us for a bit. As far as the food, everything was delicious. They give complimentary fried pork rinds that are made in house. We had two boats of them and got a bag to take home. My sister and I both ordered the fried catfish and fries. Great flavor and not greasy. I would recommend Davy Crockett Grill to anyone.
