The loaded potato. Needs more BEEF. Please and thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a solid 3.5 establishment. Nothing about this place will really stand out to you. It's not an overly sized place. There isn't an extensive list on the menu that will have you scratching your head on what to order. This is a quaint spot that has eating staples from salad to fried stuff. The good: The staff here is very friendly and very welcoming. The bad: I'm not a true fan of the price to portion ratio. Food pricing is increasing at a rapid rate, I truly understand that. I was not expecting a Flintstones moment where my vehicle would receive the food, which in turn, would make my vehicle flip on its side. I have to be honest...they serve you on a traditional compartment plate. I'm not even certain that two scoops of a side can fit in those compartments. I truly do not feel as though you receive enough food for the money. The ugly: You will not be taken to flavor town eating here. Do not get me wrong, they do put spices on their meats, but the meat wasn't flavored. My New Orleans' tongue did not have an awakening of any sorts eating here. Was the food palletable? Very much so. That's where it ends FOR ME. I didn't taste anything that knocked my socks off. I had a clue it would be that way when they asked what spice level boudin I wanted. Once again, spices for taste versus seasoning for the wow factor. All in all, boudin was decent. Okra was fried decent but didn't have flavor. Ribs were tender and the best meat. The sliced brisket was well done, but without a flavor pop. The baked beans were really done well. The coleslaw was tasty as well. The turtle slice of pie, with whipped cream, was a nice dessert, but too small of a portion. Would I eat here again? Yes I would now that I know what to expect. read more

Great service but the bbq not so good. Unfortunately the brisket I was served looked and tasted like it was cooked last week and was reheated and served to me. If you are looking for good bbq this isn't the place. read more

This place is a absolutely MAGNIFICENT GEM! There is not a meal that my wife and I have had that was not simply perfect.

Five stars, hands down. We initially came to Onalaska for another restaurant and that one was a bust. I typed in "food" in my Yelp search and this was the first to pop up. BBQ sounds good, let's go! It was just 0.3 miles away, even better. We pulled up and right away, someone walked out and came to my window. She asked me if we wanted to order to go or come in and dine. We opted to dine in. Everyone was super friendly that worked there and very accommodating. Since I had my puppy with me, I chose to sit outside. Yay for them having a picnic table outside! It was the perfect weather for outdoor dining. They even provided some water and some milkbone dog treats for Teddy. How cool is that? Onto the food --- I ordered boudin balls as an appetizer because I was starving and haven't had any in a long time. Those came out in a set of 3 and did not disappoint. For my actual meal, I went with one of their baked potatoes. I also have not had one in a long time and our waitress said those were really good/popular there. I chose their "two meat combo" baked potato and had brisket and sausage as my meats. SO DELICIOUS! Omg. Seriously drool worthy. I would make my drive from Houston to have one of those potatoes again. I highly recommend coming here. Well priced, delicious and great hospitality. read more

First time, enjoyed the bar b q which tasted great. Service was good but ask the server to leave off the whip cream on the pie. Little slice of key lime pie with enough whip cream for an additional two slices. We will go back. read more

The most friendly folks in Onalaska! The BBQ is delicious, love the fried shrimp, and a pretty good salad. They have a lot of options on their menu, so if you're with a group that wants anything from a salad to fried shrimp, give them a try. You'll be glad you did! read more

Waitresses are friendly. Service is slow bc of all the to go orders. .hubby liked the beans. Brisket was dry and un sauced. He tried a bottle on the table and it was very much a vinegar sauce. That was all he could taste. Drove 1.5 hours to try it. Not our thing. read more

The barbecue here is really good, but Miss Jean's's fried shrimp basket is beyond amazing! The shrimp taste like shrimp if you know what I mean. Not just a lot of breading that taste like grease. Why on earth would I order shrimp at BBQ place. Because other Yelpers recommendations. And they were right. Let me just say when I walked in the door the place was rather small and not what I had expected from the reviews. But when it comes to food this place is serious. We had a table of 7 and everybody was pleased with their meal. My fried shrimp were huge and battered there, not some Sysco frozen. Try the apps also. We had some type of fried corn nugget that was delicious. read more

They are a staple in Onalaska when I don't do it myself I get mine here. Keep it smoking

We have ate here quite a few times and the food is great. I love the pork loin and stuffed potato.

Always delicious and brisket has a great flavor, very tender and juicy! Stop in and grab to go or sit in their cute little seating area!

I constantly sent clients who are in from other parts to this restaurant. So I decided I should write a review here. Yes their name is BBQ but they have so much more on their menu. I personally think their fried shrimp is the best of any place on Lake Livingston! And the employees are the best. read more

After several weeks in Polk County this is still my favorite ribs. Good slaw, great classic potato salad. I favor pork ribs but I would like to go back and try the brisket or other items. Clean, friendly staff, quick service. Just all around a good bet. Try it. read more

Weird. The chopped beef was extremely bland. Like no taste, no salt, pepper or spice. The most unique bbq experience that I have had in a long time. I ate the whole sandwich but it just didn't have much of any flavor. The fried okra was the same way! It's like the breading has no salt pepper or spices or flavor. Weird. The folks inside are very nice and pleasant so I would probably go back, except I will maybe bring a bottle of some good bbq sauce and a bottle of Crystal hot sauce. And my wife agreed. Very odd. read more

Driving up it looks small and simple, but the food was awesome. I was looking for a real barbecue joint and this was better than I expected. Miss Jeans Bar-BQ - Amazing Lunch - American Near Me - Onalaska, Texas

It's hard to find good places to eat in Onalaska area but this is a very good little place. We ordered everything to go and I felt kind of bad as they told us they had plenty of room to just eat there, but we were just in the mood to eat at the house. What I love about this place is how many options they have. I got steak fingers and they were pretty good. Next time I'll try the bbq and perhaps eat there instead of take-away. read more
