Let me state this: If you don't think this place deserves at least 4 stars, you must have caught them on an off day. Let me also say this: This place is a solid 4 stars, even on a bad day, in my fat opinion. In and attempt to not get extra wordy: They give you service with a smile here. Zydeco music at all times will be playing while you're there. For the point of clarity, zydeco is a Louisiana thing more than a New Orleans thing. Please have an idea of what you want because you have to order before you sit down. After receiving my food, I'm pleased to say that their price to portion size is okay. Let's get to why this solid 4 star establishment is getting the 5th star from me: The good: They actually have food that taste good. They get the 5th star because their seafood gumbo is actually pretty decent. On top of making it easy to get a quick gumbo fix for this New Orleans native that now lives in small Texas town, they did not skimp on ingredients and have two serving sizes. There is another restaurant in Livingston claiming to be a Cajun restaurant, and that place is lying. That restaurant just purchased themed decor. Indulge actually has taste. Swamp fries - plenty of toppings and sauce. I would like the cheese sauce to have more of a cheesier taste, but very enjoyable. The portions could easily fill you up. My fried fish and dirty rice were pleasant. The candied yams will not give you diabetes. I'm not certain if that was cake or corn bread on the plate, but it was enjoyable either way. The cheesecake was a decent size and taste. The praline sauce was decent as well. The bad: I am saying this just to mess with the owners - these are just Texas people with Louisiana roots. I'm glad they didn't lose some of their cultural identity with being born and raised Texas folk! The ugly: I'm typical Texas fashion, their catfish and/or shrimp plates have a count on it! This is once again me messing with Texas people. In Louisiana, New Orleans specifically, you rarely see someone put how many pieces of fish and/or shrimp you well receive on your plate or platter! If you do, that's definitely some new stuff! Post Hurricane Katrina Louisiana! All in all, this place is legit. They do run specials, so make certain to ask for that. Took a day trip to Livingston just to brunch! This place is located in the heart of Livingston. Great music with friendly staff. It was nice to get out of Houston and enjoy a vibe. The menu has so many options that it was hard to choose, but the waitress provided great suggestions. I got a few different things. To start, I had the boudin eggrolls, and you can't tell me i wasn't in Louisiana. The flavor was top tier, and it's not brunch without a mimosa. The flight came when 4 mixers and a full bottle of champagne!! The food came out quick, hot, fresh, and delicious . If you're in Livingston, give this place a try, and if you're in Houston or a surrounding city, make the trip trust me! The music was on point, the food was on point, and the staff was so welcoming. I ordered the Buffalo chicken wings on top of a waffle with fresh blackberries, blueberries, and strawberries that complimented my champagne with cranberry filled to the top wine glass! My husband ordered their fried catfish, shrimp, hush puppies, and fries. They have the best fresh food that obviously is brined because every fried item was juicy and cooked to perfection! The waiter service was very good, even though they have a qrcode to view their menu and order it. However, since it was our 1st visit, the waiter was very accommodating and took our order. I even had leftover chicken wings with a qtr of the waffle left. Oh, and my husband let me have a couple of his fried shrimp! Can't wait to go on a Thursday for happy hour with half off Buffalo wings and sit outside on their deck.
