I have had a new tradition over the past three weeks. I go to Lakeside Deli every Thursday and have the Chopped Cheese sandwich and an order of fries. For those of you who are unfamiliar with a chopped cheese sandwich, let me break it down for you. A chopped cheese sandwich is when a burger is cooked steak and cheese style and put on a hoagie roll. This sounds like it should be a simple concept but so many sandwiches fall short of hitting the mark. THIS ONE DOES NOT! The meat on this sandwich is cooked wonderfully. The seasoning is perfect. The temperature is excellent. It's juicy and not any way overcooked. It smells amazing as soon as you open the bag. The fries are also a sticking point for me. They are golden brown and have just the right amount of salt and crunch to them without being dried out. My lunch is always really in minutes and I enjoy talking to the owner while I wait. He always greets me with a smile and makes my business feel appreciated. There are several other menu options but I am so smitten with this one that I have not ventured to try anything else. read more

I stopped in for a couple of sandwiches at just the right time! I ordered a cheesesteak hoagie and a tuna salad sandwich after visiting the Lakeside farmer's market nearby. The owner was so pleasant and kind, and allowed me to make modifications to the sandwiches. It took about 10 minutes for them to be prepared fresh, and in that time, so many other folks flooded into the store to order too! It was great to see how popular they were, given that the sandwiches were excellent. It's close by, so I plan to return soon. read more

A cute halal deli in Northside that is run by a kind owner. I had my first experience at this place along with my husband and two friends. The menu options are great and there is something for everyone. Along with a variety of snacks and drinks that represent different cultures. The owner (or whoever was working the register) was extremely kind and personable, which made a big difference. Unfortunately, the tuna sandwich I ordered just wasn't very good. It wasn't horrible, but it was only just edible, and for $8 I was expecting a bit more. Since this is billed as a NY style deli, I was also hoping for more topping options (like cherry pepper relish or banana peppers) and maybe different bread choices. On the plus side, the service was quick and the customer service was above average so I'll be back to try something else soon. read more

I absolutely love this hidden gem. What a great deli. Super clean and bright with an inviting atmosphere. So many choices of drinks, chips and menu items. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and had such an amazing conversation with the owner. We got a Philly cheesesteak and pastrami on rye. Both were very tasty. This place is great! Tried it on a whim and the food was awesome. They have a TON of drink selections too. The service was friendly and efficient. The owner greeted us right away and was super friendly. Sandwhiches are made to order, and the kitchen team was very fast The Deli reminded me of a typical NY shop with just a simple menu. Had a friend tell me about Lakeside Deli and how good the food was and good priced. I decided to check it out today. I like small shops and not chains because the service is usually better. The Lakeside deli did not disappoint. I was immediately greeted and made to feel like a valuable customer. The staff was very friendly and attentive offering any assistance they could. The shop is small but has a really good selection of items. The seating is outside on their little patio area. Was nicely shaded so not right in the sun which made the seating area a little more comfortable. Parking in front and on the side of the business. I had the Steak & Cheese, I thought it was very good. Needs a little more seasoning however it was one of the fastest sandwiches I've ever had made and tasted fresh. I got the fires to go with it and they are your basic average fries. The potato salad looked really good and I wish I had tried that. All in all I will definitely be back to try some of these other sandwiches on the menu. I am really looking forward to the pastrami sandwich they have. read more

9/4/23 6pm Lakeside deli I read the reviews about the steak and cheese being like the best ever so I had to go try one . I called in my order and the nice man on the phone said it would be ready in five minutes. I arrived in about five minutes and it was ready!!! I noticed a big sign in the window that advertise their steak and cheese. I also noticed at least five signs on Lakeside Avenue advertising the steak and cheese. This deli had outside seating. I noticed a dog bowl so I can only assume it's pet friendly. Family friendly. Inside of the store, they had an array of beverages, and the store looked very clean . The man at the counter, I believe is probably the same in the answer the phone, and he was extremely nice and polite . That is always appreciated. The sandwich is quite large. I will probably only eat half. Upon biting into the sandwich I noticed it was a tad spicy, which is not good for me because I do not like spice. And too, not expected. The spice is very little, so it still edible. Besides that I mean, it's pretty average. I don't taste anything that really makes it exceptional.. don't get me wrong it's seasoned and tasty but just average. Because of the customer service and cleanliness of the store, I'd revisit and try something else. read more

We were in the area around lunch and decided to stop into this little shop. It's an easy place to miss or drive by, but if you're hungry, stop in for one of their tasty sandwiches. There's no inside seating, so you're either going to need to take it to go, eat in your car, or take advantage of one of their picnic benches outside. We ordered a couple Philly cheese sandwiches, and a hot Italian sandwich. All 3 were delicious and large. Service was quick and the owner was very friendly. Great little deli in the Lakeside neighborhood. Good selection of sandwiches and the hot items are delicious (we tried the burger and the philly cheesesteak). This deli is kind of a convenience store where you can get a sandwich, salad, bottled drinks, chips, candy, and other snacks. For a sandwich, bag of chips, and a bottle of soda, it was over $15. The sandwich looks like a decent size, but there's too much bread for the amount of toppings and there was an aggressive amount of mayo. The sandwich kind of reminded me of Subway. The only seating is outside, but it's next to a smoke/vape shop, so it smelled like weed. If you go, plan to take your food to go and I wouldn't recommend the turkey sandwich. read more

The subs we ordered were delicious and noticeably better than other fast casual sub shops. The bread, meat, and toppings were fresh and tasty. Never fails to be a local staple (sometimes multiple times a week) I always find something new that catches my eye, snack wise and drink wise. Everything tastes fresh and looks quality. Eating outdoors is my favorite next to their super fun and colorful mural on the side of the building. They have some tables and chairs and even a big dog bowl with water for our four legged friends. The owners and chefs are all very friendly as well, and really get to know their regulars as well as make new customers feel welcome. A must stop by spot for a quick bite to eat for sure read more

Stopped for lunch when we were traveling through on rte 95. The cheese steak was delish and the onion rings were as well. I ordered the Philly Cheese Steak, it was a decent sandwich. Nothing to write home about. My wife had a hot pastrami, it was ok. Even less to write home about. My issue centers on the GrubHub delivery (Al was a great indiv, he was on-time). However, the order was placed mid-afternoon on Friday, on line, for a 5.30pm delivery. When the driver arrived at the deli, the sandwiches were not ready and the driver had to wait an est 15min for them. Our 5.30 delivery happened at 5.50pm. I got the chopped cheese on the recommendation of a friend. It was tasty and well prepared. The fries were crispy and well-seasoned, just salty enough! Afshin the owner takes a lot of pride in his deli and when you walk in he knows your name. He knows all his customers and it's just really important to have someone like him in the community who cares about his business and the quality of service he provides. The food, especially the steak and cheese is putting the others to shame. He also carries a variety of great chips and beverages like Carolina kettle and cold brew coffees.
