    Magic Mediterranean Magic Sandwich
    Melanie C.

Small but mighty. Despite there being a line, it moved very quickly. The sandwiches were great. It's a little pricey and doesn't include a side BUT they are great sandwiches and I love that they avoid seed oils and MSG. Definitely will be back.

Will certainly stop in here again on my next trip to Richmond. Very cozy neighborhood deli with friendly staff. I tried out the industrial which did not disappoint and the potato salad which I really enjoyed. Also, ordered was the spaghetti in meatballs, which was a good size but the sauce looked watery and I personally wouldn't get. I can't recall what the third sandwich was called but was also super tasty.

So glad to have had an opportunity to stop in here. In business for over 42 years, they know what they are doing. Their Mediterranean sandwich and pesto pasta are absolutely amazing! Don't miss out on having a crème brûlée, especially the ones with fruit compote on top, as they are life-changing. Warning; this is an historic building, so the bathrooms were not exactly ADA compliant .

This place is amazing!! I was looking for a good local deli in the area for lunch and these folks did not disappoint. Wow!! Everything looked so good. The staff here was very kind and helpful and the store so cute and quaint. The vibe here is warm and welcoming. My Italian sandwich was simply fantastic! One of the best I've ever had! Thanks so much for feeding a weary traveler and your kindness.

Cheese Colombo & Pesto Pasta Salad

One of a kind spot. I know now why it's been a 40+ year staple in Richmond. Old-style reliable deli that doesn't seem like it has missed a beat since it first opened. Truly never had anything like the Cheese Colombo - think the cheese-equivalent of burnt ends - but in a sandwich?! Like how cool is that. So incredibly crispy with the most delectable of fillings (i.e. peppers) that gave such a surprising counter-taste to the rest of the ingredients... seriously, it was just incredible. Every bite took me on a trip. Pesto pasta salad was solid too - reminds me of the side dishes my family used to take home in bulk from our local deli back in Cleveland. Service was quick and respectable. Will be going here many many more times over the next few years - I am sure of it.

Came in per recommendation of a friend. The shop is very small but has its own personal charm and style that I found very appealing. They have a laaaarge menu with a variety of sandwiches for all diets so I would say they're quite accommodating. I'll be honest... I can't remember what we had but it was all so delicious, I only managed to remember to het pictures after we had all eaten a hefty portion of our meals! The meats taste fresh, with great balance in flavors! Their service is fast. Staff is very welcoming, very kind. It's a great place to get things on the go, but if you're feel like sitting down, would be mindful it's not great for a large party. Maybe just with a significant other, a friend or two.

Great customer service and great food. The pesto pasta was a tiny bit dry but the mushroom cheesesteak was to die for ! My mom's club sandwich was amazing she usually doesn't like anything.

Been looking for a great Italian sub in Richmond ever since one of my favorites closed. I've been wanting to try Coppola's so I stopped by to pick up lunch on a Sunday. It feels very much like a small deli in NYC which is cool and unique in Richmond. I was surprised by the number of tables inside too! It was busy but also not impossible to find somewhere to sit or stand while waiting for my food. The staff was super friendly and willing to give recommendations! I got the industrial which is their #1 sandwich, definitely like an Italian. It was packed with flavor and I liked how thin the sub roll was so I tasted all the ingredients. It was pretty messy and greasy though which surprised me. The fact that it was open faced definitely made it messier. Not the most memorable sandwich to me but I did like it! If you like Bernie's Subs in the west end of RVA then this is a great place to try too!! The feel of the restaurant was my favorite part though so I would go back and try something else.

We had a taste for sandwiches so we decided to check out Coppola's Deli located in Carytown and is a Richmond institution since 1982. I cannot believe nobody has ever told me about this place. We approached the counter not knowing what we wanted and the cashier was very patient with us. He offered some popular suggestions. The service was great and there's a small eat in area or outside seating if you can't wait to eat it at home. I settled on the Industrial made hot which is a traditional Italian Hero and it was the best damn Italian I've ever had in my life! The bread was everything! It took me way too long to discover this and I'm pretty sure I'll become a regular now. And if you are a RVA native and haven't been. Shame on you haha! Go check them out y'all and get sandwich high like we did LOL.

Just moved to Richmond and decided to explore the Carytown neighborhood today. While walking around, I noticed Coppola's Deli and decided to give it a try. I opted for the Industrial to go. While I enjoyed the sandwich, I think it would have been better eaten hot as the bread was a bit soggy from the ingredients by the time I ate it. I will definitely give this place another shot when I have more time to sit and eat there.

The inside of the store was old school setup with booths and a huge full service bar. 15 minutes within opening, the restaurant was full in capacity. The menu had lots of exciting brunch dishes, appetizers, salads, soups and deli section as well. There were plenty of cocktails, beer and wines choices available too. Prices were decent. I picked the Jewish Sailor that was a combo of toast with pastrami and beef sausage with red onion and mustard. When the dish came, it looked so scrumptious. Loved the flavor of the pastrami, the crunchy sausages, crispy toast bread, coleslaw all of it. I also got to try the pierogis that were delicious as well. The service was good overall. Our waitress was attentive, while managing several tables at the same time. The dishes came out quickly despite being busy. Overall the experience lived up to the expectations.

And the one you'll skip over but shouldn't is the Adkins Special, which is 3 eggs and 2 meats (or 2x one meat) -- no bread, no fruit, no potatoes. Sometimes you just need to go all proteins! Anyway, all of these are great options. Also, their "numbered" deli sandwiches are all good choices. We remain regulars. Our server was Braxton, a delightful young lady. She was witty and a diligent server and all the things...and she did not steer us wrong when it came to the food. My husband and I both had a taste for ordering an Italian sub and Braxton said we would not be sorry if we ordered it, and we were not. I was literally moaning with almost every bite. I am a potato salad connoisseur. I will not eat it unless it is freshly made. I don't do any of the grocery store type of potato salads. (Gross!) I asked Braxton about it and she said that in general, she doesn't even like potato salad, but at this restaurant, she absolutely loves it and highly recommends it. Knowing it is freshly made on site, plus her recommendation, I decided to try it. Oh my word! This potato salad is straight from the portals of heaven. Sooooooo good. This might not seem like a big deal, but it's a very big deal to me. I like freshly brewed tea. Nothing bottled. Nothing out of a soda machine. (Disgusting!) I asked Braxton if the tea was actually brewed there and she said yes. Tea is not the same everywhere. Sometimes it's so weak, you don't even realize it's tea. Not here! It was perfect. This makes a huge difference to me as when my beverage is perfect, I enjoy my meal a lot more. The entire meal was top notch. The service was absolutely excellent. We loved having Braxton and would ask for her again. A DJ was setting up as we were eating. We learned that they have karaoke and trivia nights earlier in the week as well as dance nights on the weekends. My husband and I mentioned that we would definitely come back and bring friends. I loved my experience here and it could not have been made any better by anything.

The deli itself is great, and makes a lot of awesome sandwiches for decent prices. As I said, I don't like the weird upcharges for certain ingredients, but so be it. It makes the prices of a sandwich soar from decent to ridiculous. The sandwiches aren't altogether authentic Italian NY-NJ style, but they are very good. I loved the parts of it that I had fresh, however when I had the rest of the sandwich a little later it had gotten extremely squidgy and soggy because they use a regular loaf of bread rather than anythng hard or Italian. Again, makes it less authentic but still very tasty. Despite these remarks, I haven't had a sandwich this good in the Richmond area before, so you should give it a try. And if it were Niche Produce, then they'd only sell unusual and hard to get hipster vegetables and sandwiches. Whereas if it wer Nix Produce, it would close down soon. And if it were Knickers Produce then I would have torn them down a lot more quickly and intensely than I did in this review.
