We decided to give this place a try because we got a 10% discount coupon from the lodge we rented from. They highly recommend this bar and grill. We came in around noon on a Saturday. There were only a few people there. We sat down and was greeted by our waitress immediately. After reviewing the menu I decided to get the Fanny Hooe BBQ burger. This is a huge burger topped with plenty of thick sliced bacon, smoked gouda cheese, caramelized onions, and what seems like a gallon of Kentucky burbon barbecue sauce. All these on a large brioche bun. The burger was out on a short time. There was sauce running down the sides of the bun already, which was soon running down my arm. The sauce was sweet, tangy, and Smokey. The thick sliced that bacon topped this massive burger was crispy adding plenty of texture to the burger. Hiding under the smoky gooey melted gouda was a pile of caramelized onions. The burger itself was cooked to a perfect medium well. All these flavors worked together into one great burger. I would have needed a box if I had eaten the fries, but I left them because they were soft and oily. I'm not sure if they weren't cooked enough ot the fryer was set too low, but they definitely took away from the meal. My husband and I took a day trip to Copper Harbor to check out a campground and decided to stop here for lunch. This place is on the main drag and appears to be a favorite for locals and tourists alike. They have a large bar and a large dining room with ample seating. Upon reviewing the menu, I decided on the Lake effect burger. The burger was cooked perfectly and is pikes high with onions, lettuce tomato and choice of.cheese, I chose fries for my side. The food was good, the service was efficient and we will stop again next time we are in Copper Harbor. read more

I've been coming to Copper Harbor on and off since I was very young. Many of the same restaurants and rental companies are still in business, so my family and I tried Lake Effect for a change of pace. Extremely happy we did! As other Yelpers suggested, the Ruben is solid. Next time I'm getting the wings and a burger. I'd argue it's the best American fare eatery in Copper. Stop in, grab a bite, and then wash it down with a local, yeasty beverage from Brickside Brewery. You won't be disappointed! read more

Stopped in for a quick bite with two friends. The place was empty except three people sitting at the bar. The inside was nice and we enjoyed the art on the walls. I ordered cheese curds and the chefs salad. The cheese curds were pretty good. The salad was just okay. I picked out quite a bit of wilted pieces of lettuce and they forgot to put croutons on there. My friends got chicken fingers and fries, which they said was very good. They also got beer and wine that they enjoyed. Service was friendly and everything came out in a reasonable amount of time. Prices were okay. The cheese curds were $8 and the salad was $15. The salad was definitely not worth that amount of money but the cheese curds were. Once we were getting ready to leave, lots of people started coming in. Bathrooms were clean. Overall, I would return but would avoid the salad! read more

I was surprised by their cocktails menu. It seems like something you would find in a big city let alone in the U. P. I tried their lavender espresso martini and it was amazing! Our bartender, Justin was superb! Their kitchen was closed but he was able to offer us a late night menu of pizza and a giant pretzel with cheese. We were super grateful for these options. read more

My daughter and I stopped in for lunch while staying in Copper Harbor. We both had burgers, which were very good. She had Mac and Cheese with hers and said it was good, but nothing special. I had the garlic parmesean fries and they were awful which was very disappointing. They tasted as though they were soaked in garlic juice and then sprinkled with parmesean which made for very wet soggy mess. The fries were handcut and probably delicious on their own which is how I wish I had ordered them. Prices were also rather high too considering what we ordered. It's doubtful that we'll go back next time we visit the area. read more

In a town with few options to eat and no mobile data at all to check on online reviews, we went to this place with low expectations. We just wanted some lunch & warmth from the elements. We were told to sit at any available table and there were quite a few guests at the late lunch hour. Our server came by and took our order and was very polite and soft spoken to our kids. He got our kids' drink orders quick and was sweet enough to update us on our orders arrival. I had a Hot corned beef sandwich for my lunch. My son had the grilled cheese and my daughter had the mac and cheese. My husband went with the Fanny Hope BBQ. I really liked my rye bread and corned beef. Juicy beef and very filling lunch! My kids too filled up on the tasty food and my husband mentioned that his bbq was tasty. More than the food, the server left a lasting impression by virtue of his cordialness and that he checked on his guest regularly. He truly had a wonderful demeanor. He made our lunch memorable and we will definitely stop by Lake Effect next we are there. FYI : They close for winter after mid-October. read more

Delicious fish 'n chips made even better with their homemade tartar sauce. Fish was fresh and flaky and was fried to a perfect crispness. Accompanying fries were good, and the mac and cheese that we ordered as a side was some of the best I've had. I was in Copper Harbor with my extended family Saturday evening after visiting Brockway Mountain Drive and we wanted to have dinner. The town was busy and I began to worry that we might not get served anywhere in town and we had 11 hungry people in our group. We walked into Lake Effect Bar and Grill and it was busy but the staff was able to put accommodations together and seat us right away. As soon as our waiter, Michael, greeted us and took our drink orders, I knew that he was going to take good care of us. We got our appetizers so fast that I couldn't believe it. Everyone got exactly what they ordered for their dinner and the food was fantastic. Our dining experience could not have been any better. From now on, when we are in Copper Harbor, we will definitely be returning to Lake Effect Bar and Grill. read more

Visited in October while we were on an ATV trip. The owner was rude and did not appear to like Atv's or conservative people. She served us one drink, then never came back to our table. We went back to our hotel and asked what was up with the new bar owner and they laughed and said yep it is more a liberal establishment. Not sure how the place is going to stay open since most customers are atv's and snowmobilers. will never go back read more
