    Kalamazoo Stout from Bells/Escanaba Brewing

We ate dinner here both nights we stayed. I found the French Onion soup to be very good, scratch made. My companion had a salad and the Rueben and was pleased. The second evening we got beers and I was happy with their offerings of craft beers. We both got the Walleye and it was scrumptious. What was weird was the 'seat yourself' part. The first night we wandered around a bit before finding a table in the back room. The back room is not as nice looking as the main dining area where we found a table the second night. You also pay as you leave at a register near the door. I would go back for sure.

Today my family and I were in the harbor for the day, and we decided to stop in at the Mariner to get some lunch. We had a table of 7, with relatives visiting from Arizona, Appleton and some locals. We ordered 3 appetizers, 2 pizzas, and a few sides. I would like to start by saying the waiter was great, and the appetizers were phenomenal. What was not phenomenal however was the pizza, as well as the cashier, 'Anthony'. Both the pepperoni and cheese pizzas were barely cut, a step down from being burnt (very dark, which the kids did not touch) and extremely minimal sauce. Not once slice of the cheese pizza was eaten, and while we ate about 5 square pieces of the pepperoni pizza, this was due to some leftover marinara sauce from the appetizers. We informed our waiter of this issue, and he simply said they would take care of us up front. When we got to the front, we were greeted by a larger fellow named Anthony who was nice at first, but once we showed him the state of the pizzas and asked for them to be taken off the bill he became very argumentative. (Mind you we are 5 square pieces of two large pizzas TOTAL-- and we did not take the pizza with us). Our bill was nearly $100, and with our dissatisfaction and us not eating or taking over 95% of the pizzas with us, we figured at least one pizza would be comped off of the bill. All Anthony did is say that's how their pizzas come, and not to order them next time if we don't like them. He offered to give us $10 off of the bill, and would not reason with us. He did not attempt to get his manager or the owner. We paid the bill and left, but this will be our last time going to The Mariner. I am very saddened by this, as I love the food and have never had a bad experience in all of the years I've been coming. So instead of comping the pizzas to remedy this situation they are now going to be losing out on my family and friends' money, as we will not be back. I would recommend you go to the Lake Effect! Better food and the staff is nicer!

The Long drink. Comes in 3 flavors. All are delicious with pizza and a game!

Came here on a whim and wasn't sure what to expect but definitely not disappointed. Tried a new beer here and watched the Ole Miss game and couldn't have been happier. Will be back soon!

Found this place while staying in Copper Harbor. Another restaurant couldn't accommodate our large group and I was worried since there was a trail festival going on that this one couldn't either but we walked right in and found seating right away. Super friendly and helpful staff, large menu and good prices. Pleasantly surprised about the number of vegan options. Menu was well marked. Nice place to eat, I would go back for sure. Not sure about parking, as we walked from our hotel

Awesome atmosphere. No hipsters, just lots of locals and tourists. I ordered the trout, our Romanian waiter brought it to Me soon enough. It was great. But I could tell that it was farm raised trout, not wild trout from lake superior. There was plenty of kraft beer to be had including Bells and KBC

Great place to eat... We were there over Fourth of July weekend 2023 and it was a bit crowded but we had a good time. I had the Mexican Street Corn chicken dinner, and it was fantastic! My companion had the Pork Ribeye, and he really liked it . We would definitely go eat there again next time we're up in Copper Harbor.

Vegan tofu egg salad sandwich (half of it). I already ate some and squished it but this thing was large!

Great service, great vegan options, awesome place all around! Thank you for labelling your vegan options and thanks for having such a great, welcoming atmosphere! We had the vegan egg salad (tofu) sandwich, which actually counts as a meal: the filling is delicious and generous. Bread is pan toasted (!). +Lettuce and tomato. I would say it needs a tad more flavor but overall great. The sweet potato fries are decent but the regular fries are perf. For appetizer, house made tortilla chips and the black bean mango salsa (yum). We scarfed it so no picture. Other veg options: any salad subbing egg salad for meat (could work depending on the salad), a designated vegan salad (sounds yum, has dried Michigan tart cherries for starters!), falafel dish with vegan option for tzatziki. The reason I know the vegan options is because they label their menu -- what a dream, haha. Final note about the service. Everyone working there was friendly and professional. The man taking care of us (at the bar where we were watching Euros) was super on top of everything. We always had drinks, and he also didn't chase us away when the game went into overtime. ;.) -- so a special thanks to him! --sincerely, a yooper who is just learning how awesome copper harbor is.

The food here was really good. We came to Copper Harbor for a few days and this is one of the few restaurants in town, but it's definitely one of the better ones. They have a really good menu selection, full bar, plenty of seating and a good atmosphere. The service was okay. Don't get me wrong everyone was nice it was just slow and they were not as attentive (not refilling drinks, not coming back to check and not asking if we want more booze). We came here three times during our stay: two dinners and a lunch. It was great. I'd definitely go back. Everything tasted great and was really flavorful. There Moroccan Chicken Soup was damn tasty. This place was great, not 5 stars because the see was mediocre.

Good pizza and burger place. Rustic informal, maritime ambiance. My second favorite place to eat in Copper Harbor.

There were only a few people there. We sat down and was greeted by our waitress immediately. After reviewing the menu I decided to get the Fanny Hooe BBQ burger. This is a huge burger topped with plenty of thick sliced bacon, smoked gouda cheese, caramelized onions, and what seems like a gallon of Kentucky burbon barbecue sauce. All these on a large brioche bun. The burger was out on a short time. There was sauce running down the sides of the bun already, which was soon running down my arm. The sauce was sweet, tangy, and Smokey. The thick sliced that bacon topped this massive burger was crispy adding plenty of texture to the burger. Hiding under the smoky gooey melted gouda was a pile of caramelized onions. The burger itself was cooked to a perfect medium well. All these flavors worked together into one great burger. I would have needed a box if I had eaten the fries, but I left them because they were soft and oily. I'm not sure if they weren't cooked enough ot the fryer was set too low, but they definitely took away from the meal. I will give this place another try when we come back to the lodge again.

The hostess was lovely and found us a space even though we didn't have a reservation (I would recommend this). Our server Lilly was knowledgeable, attentive and very good. She managed a huge section and timed all of us perfectly so no one was waiting too long for their dishes or drinks. The food is OUTSTANDING!! How has this been under the radar in Copper Harbor? High dinning in the middle of no-where, its wonderful. The trout was super moist and flavorful with crisp skin. The mushroom risotto was cooked perfectly and full of earthy flavors. The beef stroganoff was rich and decadent. The four cheese ravioli was a lot on its own, but paired with the beef and sauce was a perfect match. We ordered a side of spätzle and sauce and it was another fun and delicious dish to try. Our starter was the special of fried burrata cheese over a homemade marinara. The marinara was my favorite part! Acidic, smooth, herby and fill of fresh garden tomato flavor. German beer on tap and a great wine selection. The location (restaurant, event space and cabins) are for sale. I hope potential new owners will keep the food as unique and high quality as it is now.

We called to make a reservation when they opened at 2:00 and were informed that they were filled for the evening though there would still be drop in seating if we arrived before 4-5:00. Sure enough, by the time we departed @ 4:45, the place was hopping. Call ahead for reservations if you would like a table in the evening or be prepared to wait. The draw here is the view of the water; simply gorgeous. The food is also wonderful, with a good choice of seafood and meat entrees, appetizers and desserts. We began our meal with the tempura white fish with Asian slaw appetizer. It was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside with a nice balance of flavors with rubles and pickled ginger. A winner. We chose the scallop special ($48) and the pan cooked trout ($28). Both entrees came with fresh sautéed seasonal veggies, a choice of one side starch (mashed potatoes, au gratin potatoes, rice pilaf, risotto) and a choice of salads (Caesar, garden, beet-feta or watermelon) . We also enjoyed a warm roll with olive oil and herbs to dip. Our meals were beautifully presented, piping hot and well cooked. The seafood was tender with flavorful but not overpowering seasoning and sauces. The veggies were crisp and the potatoes were delicious. We shared a flourless chocolate torte and it was amazing: smooth, rich and not too sweet. With tip our tab came to $130 for two with no drinks. Expect to pay good money for a nice dinner, well prepared, a beautiful view and first class service.

The Hut - A Gem in the Keweenaw!…read more The Hut is a very unique experience, and we were thrilled to stumble upon it--especially since dining options in the area are a bit limited. From the moment we walked in, we were struck by the quirky decor that ties into the Keweenaw's mining history. It's charming, memorable, and adds a special local touch you don't often find. My wife was on the hunt for some Lake Superior whitefish, and The Hut *delivered*. She went with the broiled preparation and couldn't stop raving about it--flaky, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I opted for a patty melt and was equally impressed. The marble rye was perfectly toasted, and the flavors were spot on. Service was decent overall. Our server did forget my tea, which was a minor hiccup, but honestly, it didn't detract much from the experience. The quality of the food and the one-of-a-kind atmosphere more than made up for it. If you're in the Keweenaw and looking for a satisfying meal with some local character, The Hut is definitely worth a stop.
