The breakfast I ordered was absolutely great. The hash browns, eggs, toast, & coffee were all perfectly prepared.

I thought the fries were really good. My wife and kids enjoyed the chicken tenders. My mom ordered the Mac n cheese with bacon and chicken. She said it was delicious. Portion sizes were big. So much food. We decided to eat on their patio which was nice after the long drive from Gwinn.

There were only a few people there. We sat down and was greeted by our waitress immediately. After reviewing the menu I decided to get the Fanny Hooe BBQ burger. This is a huge burger topped with plenty of thick sliced bacon, smoked gouda cheese, caramelized onions, and what seems like a gallon of Kentucky burbon barbecue sauce. All these on a large brioche bun. The burger was out on a short time. There was sauce running down the sides of the bun already, which was soon running down my arm. The sauce was sweet, tangy, and Smokey. The thick sliced that bacon topped this massive burger was crispy adding plenty of texture to the burger. Hiding under the smoky gooey melted gouda was a pile of caramelized onions. The burger itself was cooked to a perfect medium well. All these flavors worked together into one great burger. I would have needed a box if I had eaten the fries, but I left them because they were soft and oily. I'm not sure if they weren't cooked enough ot the fryer was set too low, but they definitely took away from the meal. I will give this place another try when we come back to the lodge again.

The hostess was lovely and found us a space even though we didn't have a reservation (I would recommend this). Our server Lilly was knowledgeable, attentive and very good. She managed a huge section and timed all of us perfectly so no one was waiting too long for their dishes or drinks. The food is OUTSTANDING!! How has this been under the radar in Copper Harbor? High dinning in the middle of no-where, its wonderful. The trout was super moist and flavorful with crisp skin. The mushroom risotto was cooked perfectly and full of earthy flavors. The beef stroganoff was rich and decadent. The four cheese ravioli was a lot on its own, but paired with the beef and sauce was a perfect match. We ordered a side of spätzle and sauce and it was another fun and delicious dish to try. Our starter was the special of fried burrata cheese over a homemade marinara. The marinara was my favorite part! Acidic, smooth, herby and fill of fresh garden tomato flavor. German beer on tap and a great wine selection. The location (restaurant, event space and cabins) are for sale. I hope potential new owners will keep the food as unique and high quality as it is now.

We called to make a reservation when they opened at 2:00 and were informed that they were filled for the evening though there would still be drop in seating if we arrived before 4-5:00. Sure enough, by the time we departed @ 4:45, the place was hopping. Call ahead for reservations if you would like a table in the evening or be prepared to wait. The draw here is the view of the water; simply gorgeous. The food is also wonderful, with a good choice of seafood and meat entrees, appetizers and desserts. We began our meal with the tempura white fish with Asian slaw appetizer. It was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside with a nice balance of flavors with rubles and pickled ginger. A winner. We chose the scallop special ($48) and the pan cooked trout ($28). Both entrees came with fresh sautéed seasonal veggies, a choice of one side starch (mashed potatoes, au gratin potatoes, rice pilaf, risotto) and a choice of salads (Caesar, garden, beet-feta or watermelon) . We also enjoyed a warm roll with olive oil and herbs to dip. Our meals were beautifully presented, piping hot and well cooked. The seafood was tender with flavorful but not overpowering seasoning and sauces. The veggies were crisp and the potatoes were delicious. We shared a flourless chocolate torte and it was amazing: smooth, rich and not too sweet. With tip our tab came to $130 for two with no drinks. Expect to pay good money for a nice dinner, well prepared, a beautiful view and first class service.
