Tamarack Inn - located at the northern end of US-41

We stopped in for breakfast around 7 a.m. Food was reasonably priced, decor what you'd expect for a mom and pop restaurant in a tourist area. We had an omelette and oatmeal, both of which are difficult to screw up. The side order of thick cut bacon was delicious. Like most places in Keweenaw County, they don't accept AMEX. The real clincher was the service. We were cheerfully greeted (and so were other patrons), coffee came quickly, food came quickly and we were on with our day of exploring the area quickly. Definitely worth a stop. Jim & Colette http://www.roamingtogether.com http://www.facebook.com/followrt

Nice joint, little pricey. 40 bucks for four adults. Understandable due to location. Would go back, for sure.

I thought the fries were really good. My wife and kids enjoyed the chicken tenders. My mom ordered the Mac n cheese with bacon and chicken. She said it was delicious. Portion sizes were big. There were only a few people there. We sat down and was greeted by our waitress immediately. After reviewing the menu I decided to get the Fanny Hooe BBQ burger. This is a huge burger topped with plenty of thick sliced bacon, smoked gouda cheese, caramelized onions, and what seems like a gallon of Kentucky burbon barbecue sauce. All these on a large brioche bun. The burger was out on a short time. There was sauce running down the sides of the bun already, which was soon running down my arm. The sauce was sweet, tangy, and Smokey. The thick sliced that bacon topped this massive burger was crispy adding plenty of texture to the burger. Hiding under the smoky gooey melted gouda was a pile of caramelized onions. The burger itself was cooked to a perfect medium well. All these flavors worked together into one great burger. I would have needed a box if I had eaten the fries, but I left them because they were soft and oily. I'm not sure if they weren't cooked enough ot the fryer was set too low, but they definitely took away from the meal. I will give this place another try when we come back to the lodge again.

The hostess was lovely and found us a space even though we didn't have a reservation (I would recommend this). Our server Lilly was knowledgeable, attentive and very good. She managed a huge section and timed all of us perfectly so no one was waiting too long for their dishes or drinks. The food is OUTSTANDING!! How has this been under the radar in Copper Harbor? High dinning in the middle of no-where, its wonderful. The trout was super moist and flavorful with crisp skin. The mushroom risotto was cooked perfectly and full of earthy flavors. The beef stroganoff was rich and decadent. The four cheese ravioli was a lot on its own, but paired with the beef and sauce was a perfect match. We ordered a side of spätzle and sauce and it was another fun and delicious dish to try. Our starter was the special of fried burrata cheese over a homemade marinara. The marinara was my favorite part! Acidic, smooth, herby and fill of fresh garden tomato flavor. German beer on tap and a great wine selection. The location (restaurant, event space and cabins) are for sale. I hope potential new owners will keep the food as unique and high quality as it is now.

We called to make a reservation when they opened at 2:00 and were informed that they were filled for the evening though there would still be drop in seating if we arrived before 4-5:00. Sure enough, by the time we departed @ 4:45, the place was hopping. Call ahead for reservations if you would like a table in the evening or be prepared to wait. The draw here is the view of the water; simply gorgeous. The food is also wonderful, with a good choice of seafood and meat entrees, appetizers and desserts. We began our meal with the tempura white fish with Asian slaw appetizer. It was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside with a nice balance of flavors with rubles and pickled ginger. A winner. We chose the scallop special ($48) and the pan cooked trout ($28). Both entrees came with fresh sautéed seasonal veggies, a choice of one side starch (mashed potatoes, au gratin potatoes, rice pilaf, risotto) and a choice of salads (Caesar, garden, beet-feta or watermelon) . We also enjoyed a warm roll with olive oil and herbs to dip. Our meals were beautifully presented, piping hot and well cooked. The seafood was tender with flavorful but not overpowering seasoning and sauces. The veggies were crisp and the potatoes were delicious. We shared a flourless chocolate torte and it was amazing: smooth, rich and not too sweet. With tip our tab came to $130 for two with no drinks. Expect to pay good money for a nice dinner, well prepared, a beautiful view and first class service.

We liked the decor, it was mine themed and had a lot of different artifacts and things having to do with mining. That's about where it ended. Our server was okay, she seemed friendly but wasn't very helpful with choosing what to order and very rarely came back to the table to check on us. The food took a long time to come out, and when it did it was mediocre at best. My husband liked the whitefish and sweet Potato fries, but said he has had better up there. My daughter barely ate her chicken and that is rare for her. I tried it and the breading was very crunchy and not flavorful. The steak is where things really fell flat. It is a petite filet mignon. So it wasn't cheap, but it had ZERO seasoning on it and was EXTREMELY undercooked. I asked for medium rare (described by their menu as warm pink center). I typically like more a of a medium but restaurants typically overcook steak so I went a little less. Now this steak was barely seared on the outside and was cool and purple inside. That was a RARE steak. We joked that it was still mooing. I was waiting for the server to come back so o could have them throw it back on for a bit but she never even made eye contact with our table. No refills on drinks or anything. When she finally returned I had eaten all my veggies and potato so I was full and asked for a box. I cooked the steak at home for a few minutes and had to add a decent amount of seasoning. I don't think we will be returning to Quincy's again.

We were seated right away and our server got us beverages and took our order in a timely manner. I ordered sauteed shrimp, but couldn't have the suggested sides, due to dietary restrictions. They were happy to let me have a salad and soup for sides instead. The French onion soup was cheesy and delicious. The salad was a standard house salad. There were eight large shrimp with melted butter, plus a few mixed veggies on the plate. I left satisfied. There was plenty of parking and the restaurant had a mix of tables and booths.
