Classic upper peninsula tavern. Friendly welcoming service and tasty food. Great crusty, flavorful and delicious pizza. Classic cheeseburger with hand cut fries. You can tell the genuinely care about what they serve. Also a bonus; they didn't fret about our screeching toddler. Which was embarrassing but they kept reassuring us not to worry. If you're looking for a good hot meal with friendly service this is a great spot. Also has some cool history of a movie being made in the tavern. Anatomy of a murder. I'll definitely be back if I'm ever in this area again.

Cool for the culture, the food is nothing special. That being said, it's in Big Bay, you should not expect a fine dining experience.

Great service - also really interesting decor and atmosphere. Had a nice outdoor beer garden too.

We'll give them another try once tonight's experience fads in our memory, but if service and food haven't improved we'll have to find someplace else for dinner out.

Waitress is efficient, accurate and attentive, frequently offering coffee refills. My sister ordered the Breakfast Special of the day , Vanilla french toast with chocolate drizzle (sans drizzle) with a side of bacon. She said it was the BEST french toast she'd ever had. My friend had the Hungry Hollow Breakfast Special (offered daily) and selected link sausage, eggs over easy, hash browns & sourdough toast. She commented all food was perfectly prepared and was quite tasty. My chicken fried steak breakfast was served piping hot with a peppery white gravy, easy over eggs & crunchy on the outside, pillowy on the inside hash browns. The marble rye toast thickly sliced bread was toasted and cried out for the accompanied butter and blackberry jam; SO GOOD! The generous portions were too much for me; I could only eat 1/3 of my meal with the two cups of coffee & glass of ice water served. I am happy to report my brother thoroughly enjoyed the leftovers pronouncing them "Delicious with a capital D!" This my second visit in consecutive years. Food quality, quantity & service remains top notch. I look forward to my visit next year and recommend you stop in for a bite. Tourist friendly & supported by cheerful locals. Thank you Hungry Hollow team!

We prefer bar service over dining service, seem to be generally more attentive and the two staff work as a team. Brandon is waiting on us. He's friendly and good at customer service. Ordered the whitefish dip, baba Ghanouj, superior whitefish tater tots, tabouli salad, superior whitefish chowder, superior whitefish tacos with black pepper fries and a spicy crispy chicken sandwich and cabbage slaw. $111 They do charge a 4% transparency fund: employee retention, living wages, staff happiness. Written on the bottom of your bill. The dishes are scratch made, in house. Nice! The tabouli is too, has some mixed greens in it. There is something sweet in the dressing or the buckwheat, not my thing at all. Rest of the salad is good though. The baba ghanouj on its own is quite garlicky, slight Smokey flavor to it. It doesn't work with the pita crackers. Not loving this at all. The whitish dip is good. My hubby liked the sweet pickled for watermelon rind garnish, I didn't like them much. The spicy chicken sandwich on the brioche bun is really good. The chicken is super crispy. It's quite good. The whitish tacos are good. The whitefish seems to be blackened, really nicely. The fish is light and perfectly cooked. The whitefish chowder is so good! The tater tots are so delicious. No slouch here. Crunchy and so yummy! Food was so unique and quiet food. The side pepper fries are and slaw ate both a bit blah, compared to the majority of our flavorful meals Service is top notch.

As we were waiting in line a bartender walked past and mentioned a free table with seat yourself FCFS in the tap room. We snagged the table and were greeted immediately. The table was decorated with some cute hand drawn coasters. Ordered a couple beverages and appetizers as well as mains. The food was all delicious and service was great. We ordered a carrot cake cupcake to share for dessert. This was our least favorite part of the experience, but my partner's only complaint was the surprise golden raisins. He's not a huge fan of "pieces" in his cake. I loved the frosting, although it wasn't traditional cream cheese frosting. It was decadent and rich. 8/10.

The Hut - A Gem in the Keweenaw!…read more The Hut is a very unique experience, and we were thrilled to stumble upon it--especially since dining options in the area are a bit limited. From the moment we walked in, we were struck by the quirky decor that ties into the Keweenaw's mining history. It's charming, memorable, and adds a special local touch you don't often find. My wife was on the hunt for some Lake Superior whitefish, and The Hut *delivered*. She went with the broiled preparation and couldn't stop raving about it--flaky, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I opted for a patty melt and was equally impressed. The marble rye was perfectly toasted, and the flavors were spot on. Service was decent overall. Our server did forget my tea, which was a minor hiccup, but honestly, it didn't detract much from the experience. The quality of the food and the one-of-a-kind atmosphere more than made up for it. If you're in the Keweenaw and looking for a satisfying meal with some local character, The Hut is definitely worth a stop.
