It's an Ishpeming landmark, a classic family spot for generations and we finally visited! We had a seat at the bar and watched an impressive display of hustle and customer service. Yes, it took a while to get our pizza but we had fun while we waited. The history of Congress Pizza is in the menu and, as another Yelper shared, it's not to be missed. There's a patio outside that helps keep it from feeling too crowded inside. There was a birthday celebration in the restaurant, complete with lights, music, singing and even a candle for wish making. It was a fun sight and everyone enjoyed it. The pizza is very tasty and well balanced; not too much of anything. It tasted great with a cold beer, my first Oberon Light (a summer winner in my book). We'll be back, hope to try the Stromboli soon! read more

Congress Pizza - Large bacon and green pepper pizza - so yummy! - Pizza Near Me - Ishpeming, Michigan

Finally tried this local legend! The pizza will not disappoint. Highly recommend coming early or calling ahead to order pizza and reserve a table. Please take the time to read the history of this restaurant. So cool to see a mining family create a legend. I have been coming up to the UP for years and love seeing the community this place creates. It's so special! We called ahead and ordered 2 pizzas which helped speed up the process. We ordered the pesto and gluten free pizzas. The crust is thin and so good! Great spot up north to get pizza! read more

Got a great pizza, one ingredient was mistakenly left out. Owner made up for the slight mistake on the final bill. That's how you treat your customers and friends. read more

I was never super impressed with Congress Pizza but I think it's about personal tastes. It's a thin crust and the toppings aren't that great of quality. I thought it was quite bland. Their cudighi sandwich is just ok. Service is friendly and quick. Prices are reasonable. Depending on how busy they are you might be waiting a long time for your pizza. Very dark interior. Outdoor space available. read more

Great thin crust pizza! Lots of toppings to choose from, plus specialty pizzas. Service was very nice and quick. Granted, we did visit here Sept 2020 (COV19, world on fire blah blah). Social distancing and mask wearing were observed and implemented. It looks like there is a patio for outdoor dining, but we chose take out. Not sure what the menu looked like in a previous lifetime, but there are just pizzas, some sort of pizza fries and a sammich. No salads or cheese sticks...but this was okay for us. There is a gluten free crust offered too, as well as a vegan pizza. Just in town for a couple of days, but was very happy to find Congress Pizza. read more

Great food and staff! Pizza is amazing! Congress has the best pizza in Ishpeming area even better than any fast food place

Wonderful pizza and fingers (cheesy bread), gluten-free option. But unless you're going only for pizza, that is ALL they have on the menu. Good service and drinks. Decor is dated UP bar. read more

One of my favorite pizzas in the U.P. The sausage is amazing and the crust is perfect. Always good service and all around good atmosphere

Am I biased? Absolutely. Has it been 24 years since I've lived here and yet I STILL look forward to coming back for a pizza? You bet! My first time here was many, many years ago, and the Congress has since changed owners and even got an updated look thanks to some storm damage a couple of years back, but the pizza remains the best I have ever had. I have brought my kids back to experience everything I did as a kid here and they love it too. My slightly less biased kids say "the people that work there are nice" and "I like the sauce being on top" and "it smells good" - so there you have it, out of the mouth of babes. I'm a huge fan of the thin, crispy crust and I like when my pizza (pepperoni, green peppers, onions and mushrooms) stays in the oven just a minute longer... I appreciate that the pizza hasn't changed and it tastes like home. I think you should try it if you've never been. It is a fun place to go with a hometown feel and a welcoming vibe. read more

First, Whoever isn't giving this place 5 stars, grew up in Negaunee or Marquette obviously. Second, there is no better pizza. I will not be taking any questions. I can't describe the pure joy one feels when eating this pizza. I no longer live in the away, but when my daughter was there last time, I made her smuggle 4 large pep, sausage/mushroom home. Almost missed the plane. But well worth it. Like I said, I don't live there anymore, but I doesn't stop me from finding ways to get it. When you stop in, tell Tunts I said Was back in the area recently. First stop congress. Did NOT disappoint. read more

I have been all around the Mediterranean. I know a thing or two about the food, and this place isn't it. It seems like a local hangout and that's great, but the food and service could be better. Nothing to write home about that's for sure. read more

Congress Pizza is AWESOME! Good Service, friendly people, fast service, and right next door! Haha!

Bar atmosphere, been rolling the same way for a long time they say. Seemed like most folks were in and out for pizza takeout. I had the pizza cudighi. It was very unique and very good, really good! I normally don't like this style of crust but the sauce and cudighi really struck me. I ate a full pie sitting at the bar watching the locals come in for takeout. I enjoyed my pizza, I will return. read more

We've had pizza all over Europe and the US and It's tough to find a better thin crust pizza than this. Perfect proportions of cheese, toppings and sauce keep the crust crispy and the flavors of all the ingredients noticeable. We loved the old school atmosphere and great service. When we ordered we were asked if we would like a large pizza for a $1 more. Of course we do! And yes we finished it.... Going to the area for the first time? Try the cudighi sausage and you won't be disappointed. read more

Great friendly service clean and the pizza is out of this world I've been eating here since I've been 8 years old

What can I say this place...it is my all time favorite. It has a unique flavor so if you didn't grow up on it, you may or may not like it. It actually has REAL little pepperoni and they use cudighi for the sausage, which is awesome. it is a really thin pizza so you could eat almost an entire one by yourself. My wife loves the Cajun seasoning they have so you may want to try that as well. Don't try to get all creative here...just stick to the basic pizza and you won't be disappointed! read more

My wife and I got the chicken pesto pizza, delicious! I added the cudhigi to my half and that was very good too. The best part of our experience was that we called our order in while we were still on our way to the U.P., and the man asked where we were at on the road so that he could perfectly time our pizza for right when we arrived, and attain maximum freshness. Very good pizza, very good service. read more

Decent pizza. Loved everything but the crust. Sauce and toppings were really good. Especially liked the Italian sausage.

This place is an U.P. staple. Love coming here with the family. Kids absolutely love the pizza. You need to try the cudighi pizza! And of course the cheese fries! I've never had cheese bread that tastes this good. The staff is phenomenal. It's a family restaurant, so you can really feel through the staff how everyone works so well together. It's such a nice atmosphere. It's simple, yet cozy. Very casual. They have have lots of old vintage pictures decorating the restaurant and year books for the local high school from like the 40's which is so cool! read more

Congress Pizza - The cudaghi and pepperoni is the best pizza on the planet! - Pizza Near Me - Ishpeming, Michigan

I was raised in the U.P. when I was really young and now live in San Francisco, and haven't been back to Ishpeming for about 4 years. However, other then to go see my family, there are only 3 reasons I come back to visit (1) Pasties (2) Cudighi and (3) CONGRESS PIZZA! They have THE BEST PIZZA IN THE WORLD. I have been eating it since I was a baby and have yet to find anything better. I don't know whether its the amazingly thin crust or sweet yet spicy tomato sauce. Regardless, it's a real winner. MISS YOU CONGRESS! read more
