    Big dog friendly!
    Lynnann W.

We were seated by Rachel, who was a wealth of information and couldn't have been more genuine in welcoming us. Thereafter, our server Silas was perfection. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outdoor patio has been given expert attention in becoming a beautiful oasis.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Loved the vibe and staff morale too - be sure to (tip) buy them a round of beer; see clever way to help employees on menu.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The whitefish spread, French Onion soup and patty melt were excellent versions of comfort food... huge menu offering deliciousness. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Patio is big dog friendly too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The establishment and its crew definitely earned TEN stars for Perfection! Don't hesitate.

Located in downtown Marquette on Washington St near the post office/city hall. Found this place because we needed a dog friendly patio that allowed our dog to sit with us not outside of the patio. Winner, winner, chicken dinner. There is an indoor and outdoor waiting area. It was nice to wait outside with our pup. While we were waiting, we ordered cocktails at the bar. The staff were so friendly. They loved our pup! He was spoiled with a few milkbones. Once we were seated, we ordered the single serving of nachos and the baked whitefish dinners. The nachos are huge! Loved that they bake the entire thing which makes the cheese nice and melty. Perfection! My husband and I ordered the whitefish dinner. I got the Cajun seasoned and my husband got the lemon pepper seasoned fish. Our dinners came with soup and a choice of side. I got the French onion and the baked potato. My husband got the chili with his dinner. We shared the nachos our friend got. Yumm!

    Friday Fish special

We had the bread sticks with mozzarella, Friday fish fry, and baked white fish. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was on point, beers were cold.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As previously mentioned in other reviews it can take a bit on service but not terrible and to be expected with such a popular place. Will definitely return next time we are in town.

Everything was good. Place was really busy (summer touristy crowd). Food took a while, as to be completely expected. Impressed with the staff... top notch! Handled the crowd well and everyone seemed happy to be there! Reuben was pretty huge. Lots of meat and kraut. Next time I think I will ask if they have some horseradish to give it a little extra flavor. I really liked the "pub" feeling to this restaurant. The sign says they have been open for 40 years! Also has an outdoor deck area that overlooks the street. Nice place to have a drink or meal and enjoy the nice weather.

This place is so cute! Divey in the best way possible with such a cute nautical feel. Food was great. We shared some breadsticks, fish and the French onion soup. Breadsticks- the cheese dip was incredible and an absolute must. Fish was fresh and SO crispy, and the soup was salty and delicious. Absolutely will be back soon!

Went with two friends for dinner. It was a 30-45 min wait to get a table so we sat at the bar and had a drink while we waited. The entrance gets really crowded with people waiting for a table and there ends up being nowhere to stand. The inside of the restaurant is super cute and beautifully decorated. Lots of entertaining and funny artwork on the walls. You never get bored just looking around the restaurant. Our server was incredibly professional, friendly, and efficient. She did a fantastic job. Shout out to Emily! We ordered their famous breadsticks that came with a marinara sauce and a garlic cheese sauce and fried pickles as appetizers. The breadsticks were delicious and the sauces were even better. The marinara had fantastic flavor and the garlic cheese sauce was really good and unique. The fried pickles were good and had a couple of basic (but delicious sauces) to dip. My friend and I ordered the regular cheeseburger well-done... now I've had many well-done burgers before that were cooked appropriately. I just don't like pink ground beef. Anyway, my burger was super burnt on the outside so it wasn't great. My other friend ordered a chicken burger and she said it was very good. The potato chips were good and I liked them dipped in the garlic cheddar dip. Overall, a good experience and I would absolutely return. I would probably just order something besides a burger.

    Bread sticks for the win!

Breadsticks were great with the magic cheese spread. The sandwich and beer were both just as good. Bartender was very nice.

Standard Marquette staple. Tough to get a table without a long wait, but the pizza is worth it.

Our two month motorhome trip brought us to Marquette, MI for three days. After an internet search…read more(thanks Yelp), we decided to eat at The Vierling. There were no seats at the highly touted back room, with a view, so we decided to sit at the bar...excellent decision. BTW, the view at the back area is not worth getting stressed about. However, it is a great area. Our bartender was Marissa; she was great. When in Rome...we both decided to get the whitefish. Mine was just the regular seasoning and my wife got the scampi version. Both were very good. We both had one of the Vierling's brews (cant remember which one) and we both enjoyed it. Vierling also has a blueberry brew and blueberries are actually dropped into it before served. We may go back today just to try it. It was a great experience and struck up a conservation with a young local. He wrote down several recommendations for us, including Black Rock Brewery and Portside, which deserve a review. I highly recommend The Vierling and discovered they take reservations. We enjoyed sitting at the bar. Thanks Marissa!

At dinner time, get here early. You definitely want a table in the back to look out over the lake…read more It's a really pretty view. Unfortunately tonight I didn't get here early enough so I sat out by the bar, which is absolutely fine. I started with a French onion soup, which I normally do when I'm here, tonight it was a little less oniony than it usually is, but that just could simply be a function of whoever was ladling it up. It's still absolutely delicious. For dinner, I had the chicken piccata with a baked potato and steamed green beans. The steamed green beans are a staple while there are a variety of other sides, such as onion rings or Alfredo, etc. I was a little disappointed in the piccata this time. It was less lemony and more oily than I remember. The lemon wedge helped, but I don't think that piccata would have to need additional lemon to the sauce. The green beans also a little heavy on the butter as was the baked potato. I don't want to say that the meal wasn't flavorful, because it was and my server while really busy was an absolute gem, only that it was a little heavy with the melted butter. After many excellent experiences here, this won't turn me off to coming back again and trying something else. Especially if I can get a table in the back!
