Bad service stalked by employees and harassed multiple times here not good drinks and no space to do anything

Atmosphere: This is the epitome of a dive bar. It was super loud in here and a tight squeeze. Our table wasn't clean and our menus were sticky. Service: They gave us plenty of time to order and were nice enough to comp a dish because it was missing two of the main ingredients listed on the menu. Food: It was....below sub par, especially for the prices, some of the most expensive bar food in Marquette. We split the buffalo cauliflower wings and they were very soggy. My sister ordered a salad (had two missing components), I ordered the fish sandwich, and my dad got the burger. Even my dad was disappointed and he is a man who eats literally anything put in front of him. I've only seen him not finish his meal twice in my life at a restaurant, and this was one of those times. They said they were short staffed so I'm assuming we just came on a bad night. read more

Labor Day weekend 2024 we found a dog friendly restaurant for lunch. Our waitress was so friendly and helpful in suggesting/recommending lunch options. She immediately brought our Miniature Schnauzer pup out a bowl of water and checked on us regularly. There was another couple who were also seated along with their dog and our waitress brought out a bowl of water for it. The ambiance was nice as we were all visiting and passersby's loved seeing our cute dogs. I would highly recommend if you are traveling with a dog to give Digs a try as they are certainly pet friendly. Portside Inn is just up the street and also pet friendly if Digs is full with no outside tables. read more

We just happened by looking for dinner. Really cool place and the owner was so nice and took good care of us. We had salads which were really fresh and good. The whitefish sliders were amazing as well as the fish tacos. The fries were spicy and great! Also very good drinks. I'd go back! Not what I expected but really surprised and happy. The bartenders were really nice during during a visit at lunch. They were terribly busy for lunch but drinks later that night it was insane(trivia night). I decided on one of their hot dogs and the Mac and cheese pulled pork egg rolls. Holy moly! Those egg rolls were amazing and huge. Definitely would be difficult to eat alone...but I did and the hot dog and maybe a few beers. Well. I think I was probably too old to be here on a Friday night for a late dinner. Food was good bar food with a Some flare and came out quickly enough. Posting this to caution vegetarians and vegans out there. I'm vegetarian and was thrilled when I looked at their menu that they had quite a few veggie options. To my dismay and shock (and I'm glad I asked) their kimchi is NOT vegetarian but is being sold as vegetarian on 2 dishes-- It contains fish sauce. It's very strange because they know enough not to put (V) next to the fish tacos but are selling foods containing fish sauce as vegetarian. Quite disconcerting that places that seem big enough to know what's vegetarian and what's not, would lie to their customers like this. read more

I didn't have high expectations. But left quite pleased. It's not the prettiest presentation of food, but the chicken n waffles and burger with caramelized onions were tasty. The food here is great, the servers are really friendly, and the ambiance is really cool.

Tied the Kimchi grilled cheese with added chicken which was really good and had quite a kick. Asked for some aioli dipping sauce but never received it (luckily someone else at our table had some ranch which helped balance the spiciness that I wasn't expecting). Knocked off a star because our table was sticky and when it came to pay our waiter just handed our bill over the bar (and over glasses) to reach to our table, which I get isn't a huge deal, but I felt wasn't the cleanest thing to do (and no, he wasn't the bartender). Wish we would've been able to snag one of the outside seats to eat as they do have that option. read more

Nice takeover and remodel of the former Dog House Pub we knew when our daughter first began college at NMU. The menu has standard pub fare with unique and flavor-filled twists. Like the whitefish cake that comes with an Asian inspired seasoning and garnish. Or the sauce and flavor options you can get with wings. The fried cheese curds are some of the best I've tasted in this area. Drink specials are strong, tasty and affordable, especially for some local favorites and brews. The service seemed a little bit slow for it being mid-day and not too crowded, seeing as though it was between lunch and dinner, but overall a pleasant experience. Digs is a nice, local favorite, casual place to stop and visit, for a quick bite or beverage, while in Marquette. We went here for lunch, it was good, not great, but still satisfying, if a bit pricey. Super friendly service. I had a cup of the whitefish chowder and the fish tacos. The chowder was quite good, with a little bit of spice to it and a nice thick consistency. The tacos were good but quite a different take on fish tacos. A lot of sauce and cheese, which in my opinion isn't really needed, but I am a fish taco fanatic and purist. Hubby had the "impossible burger" which turned out to be a portobello mushroom cap rather than a Beyond burger, but the sever let him know that when he ordered, so he knew what he was getting and still enjoyed it. The fries had some kind of spice on them but they were hot and fresh. Overall we enjoyed our meal. read more

5 of us had dinner Saturday and we have nothing but good things to say. Other reviewers suggested loaded fries for an appetizer so we went with the pulled pork version. Phenomenal flavor combination with enough for 5. We had burgers, pulled pork sandwich, and a Reuben. Everyone said their food was great. App and meals came out timely and service was great. I would consider menu to be very good bar style food. The little twist they put into the meals really set a high bar. Definitely going back next time we are in Marquette. read more

YUM I LOVE DIGS! Not only do they have EXCELLENT food here prepared by the masterful chefs (headed by the wonderful Andrew Sear), but they have a GREAT atmosphere and DELIGHTFUL staff! They are so happy and attentive. The chicken and waffles on the Bigger Digs side of the menu is absolutely decadent! The Michigan maple syrup makes it even more scrumptious. Their wings are fabulous and they often have special sauces that you can only get for a limited time. The whitefish chowder is a staple - probably the best I have had anywhere in town. Can't go wrong with a burger either. Whatever you decide to get you won't be disappointed. They also have an array of events that go on each week including trivia and even had a season 7 launch party for Game of Thrones! If you're lucky you might have a Digneit sighting - they are great people and always make a point to ask how everything is if they are in. AND THEY HAVE BRUNCH. :O read more

I really struggled with deciding whether to give three or four stars. The menu is a slightly eclectic version of bar food, which I really like. Unfortunately, my meal was tainted by a poor menu description, which is what made me round down. I got a side house salad, which was fantastic (the croutons literally were the highlight of the whole meal, haha- they're garlicky and made in-house). Then I split the whitefish cakes and bbq carrots with my friend. The carrots were an interesting flavor palette but really good- I dipped them in ranch and they were even better It was the whitefish cakes that were a bummer- the menu made them seem pretty straightforward, but when we got them it was basically half fish and half peppers, and I hate peppers. Ended up giving all of those to my friend, unfortunately. I wish I had known, so I could have just ordered something else instead! read more

Speaking of drinks, the beer at Digs is great (clean lines), and they have a nice variety of Michigan craft beer. The service at both the bar and table was friendly and attentive. Dinner... I had the Friday grilled whitefish. Whitefish is a staple in Marquette restaurants because it is local and fresh. I asked if the serving was a filet. "Yes." Well, it was not...3 small pieces (about 6 ounces). My serving was not hot and slightly fishy. Fishy? That is rare for whitefish. I only ate 2 of the 3 pieces. The fries served with the fish are fresh cut and very good. My husband and son both had burgers. They agreed they were 4 stars. I broke my cardinal rule: order food based on the "genre" of the restaurant (e.g., order burgers at a bar, pasta at Italian, eggs at Denny's). Sometimes you get lucky (Stucko's has great whitefish)...not so much st Digs. I'll go back for another try with a burger or sandwich. read more

The food is crazy good. Tacos where light and almost refreshing. You have to get the Egg rolls. First time there just order them. Impressive staff and awesome service. Customer service was great but food was bad. Again. Waited close to 15 minutes for cheese curds when there was only 4 other tables seated. Cheese curds came... Frozen on the inside. They comped them which was good, then fried the same order. After another 20 minutes or closer to 30, our 2 sandwiches came. They were okay. Nothing to special. My boyfriend and I wanted to try a newer place in Marquette. As a graduate of NMU, I remember when this was the Doghouse-a popular bar to hang out at. We started with some boneless wings with the Digs dry rub. They were tasty enough and the fries were good. I liked that there was a sauce caddy but the sauces were forgettable. I ordered the brisket sandwich for my meal but they were out. I decided on the short rib stroganoff. It was pretty terrible and definitely not worth $19. The "short ribs" were sliced on top and extremely dry. Pretty sure it was brisket (that they were out of) or just some old jerky. Short ribs should be tender and juicy, not hard as a rock. The flavor wasn't even good. The noodles were cooked nicely as was the broccoli. My boyfriend had the phoritto. He liked it but it was pretty much at the top of his heat tolerance. I like the creativity but that's about it. Our waitress was good but I won't be back. Too many other good places to eat in Marquette. read more
