The locals are great, the bartender was friendly and chatty, it's like walking into your neighborhood hangout spot and you don't feel like a stranger even as an out-of-towner. I tried the Reuben Quesadilla and it was 10/10. Crispy tortilla, hot fresh Swiss and corned beef, tangy Kraut, 1000 Island for dipping--a meal that could cure the worst of my hangovers. Their pasty's are DELICIOUS. Handmade, huge, great price, served hot and fresh to eat or cold to take home for later. The Bloody Mary was decent but nothing to write home about but I truly came for the food and wasn't disappointed one bit! Great prices, big menu, tons of seating, locals to chat with, and they offer bar or table seating (it also looks like they could accommodate larger parties if needed). At least two things make this place standout from a regular bar. 1) Breakfast! Not many neighborhood bars serve a daily breakfast.... And it good! Including breakfast pizza! 2). A daily soup menu with something like 8 homemade soups. Today I tried a cup of Chicken noodle. Not only was it a very big "cup" it was "just like mom makes". I loved it! I have been here pretty much every day since I've been in Marquette. Every meal was great. Been here for breakfast twice and had dinner once. They use good ingredients. This place is great. Fast service, excellent food, and relaxed atmosphere. The parking lot is always packed so that speaks volumes. Burgers are great, salads are super fresh and generously made. This is our go to for food and affordable drinks! Whether we are staying at home for a cozy night in or just got done playing outside all day and need a recovery meal, this is our spot. The food is consistently good and the service is alright (can kind of be a toss up depending who your server is) but it is a laid back dive bar so it is to be expected. A majority of the employees there are so great and excellent servers. The breakfast is to die for and I cannot recommend it enough! They just updated their menu and it is all really tasty so far! This is the second time in about 2 months that we sat at the Dry Dock for over an hour and our food never came. Tables around us who came 1/2 hour after us were finishing their meals. The excuse was "it's coming". Simple order - reuban sandwich and chicken sandwich. We frequent this restaurant at least once a week with several different groups of friends and business groups. After a long day of house hunting, The Smokin'Hubster and I needed two things: Beer and Dinner, stat. We had a lot of choices in the area but, honestly, after six hours in the car, we did not want to venture far from the hotel. The parking lot was full, but we had nothing to worry about inside. We stepped into The Dry Dock and it was comfortably busy on a Friday night. The tables were distanced, we were greeted right away and a server quickly came to the table to wipe it down and get us settled. For two visitors, we felt like regulars with the friendly treatment. I love that they have Bell's on tap, so my Oberon and I were acquainted promptly. We enjoyed the beers and looked over the menu. Nearly every spot in the area has posted apologies for any delay and menu changes (COVID does not discriminate; everyone feels the effect) but we perceived no slowness. Service was hopping, everyone around us was laughing and having fun. Honestly, it was the best night out we could have hoped for! The Hubs ordered the shrimp basket - which had a large portion of fries and shrimp - but the star was the Cudighi Sandwich. What's that? Oh, you gotta try this! It's similar to Italian sausage but so much... deeper? richer? yummier! This sandwich was smothered in sauce, veggies (peppers + shrooms + onions) and cheese; what's not to love?! I stopped here on my way back home. It was recommended by a local who advise the omelettes are the best! There is plenty of parking and the place was quite busy. You'd never really know this was the place to be when driving by. The service was top notch and the seating, televisions and sports memorabilia made it a memorable experience. Got the Loaded Dock ....has everything but the kitchen sink!! You know, it doesn't take a whole lot to make an excellent pizza. A little bit of care and attentiveness. Good ingredients. Thicker crust (not usually my choice) but a good amount of delicious sauce, cheese, and other toppings Cudighi sandwich (Italian sausage) also very good, and can add toppings of your choice. Vacationing in Marquette and every time I passed this place it was busy so had to try it. Heading out of town we stopped for breakfast. All I can say is come hungry or decide to share -- or a box is in your future. The Mexican omelet is huge. It comes with a side of potatoes and toast. Very yummy and can feed two. My husband said it was great -- so good that he ate it all and it really was huge. The side spiced potatoes were also excellent. The sausage egg sandwich was ho hum, dry and not as good as Mc Donald's egg McMuffin at twice the price. Service was adequate. The server did not tell us about the daily specials. So I just started my trip to the UP and after riding my motorcycle for 550 miles I asked my AirBNB host where I could get something to eat. They suggested this place. Looked it up and had decent reviews. The two stars are for food portions. Ordered the steak salad, and it really was a lot of food. A bit salty, but overall good. Speaking of salty, I sat at the bar for my meal and there were two ladies tending bar. My shoe has more personality than the two combined. Came to the UP for the scenery and from what everyone says, the friendly people to have conversation with. I guess if you're a local it is probably good, but as someone passing through, it's like going to your in-laws who never liked you to begin with. Skip this spot. I can't speak of the breakfast or lunch staff as I have no experience with them. However, as for the dinner/evening bartenders- RUN! Do not waste your time or money in this bar. After spending wonderful time at the NMU/MTU hockey game, with NMU being victorious- a friend and I decided to try the Dry Dock for some nachos and beer. Upon entry we surprisingly noticed the bar was dead- very few customers despite an amazing karaoke DJ, Pierre. It didn't take us long to understand why the establishment was so empty- the crabby, scowling, God-awful bartenders. This was very disheartening for us to realize, since the Dry Dock used to be packed and a lot of fun on Friday nights before the new owners took over and put their daughter in a bartender position. (While leaving I was rudely reminded by the other bartender- not to "piss off" the owner's daughter). Upon arrival I placed a drink order (unknowingly with the owner's daughter) for myself and a few friends that came in. I was happy to buy a round of beers. After I completed my order- the owner's daughter glared at me and snapped in a surprisingly cruel tone- "are you done yet?!" This certainly took me back and I sarcastically apologized for being such a burden and inconvenience. ***Reminder: the bar was DEAD!!! Later- after my friend and I finished our nachos (which were actually good)- I returned to the bar to grab two more beers. Again- the scowling, grumpy owner's daughter approached me. I asked her quite honestly- if she was ok? She snapped back at me "yeah-are you?!" To which I replied "I'm great actually." And I ordered my beers. The owner's daughter then pushed my $20 bill back at me and said that she was no longer going to serve me due to "how I spoke to her earlier." She and I then proceeded in a heated exchange of words.. and my friend and I packed up and left. It's truly unfortunate that what was once a Harvey hotspot has become ruined by nepotism and ridiculously rude bartenders. read more
