We're spending 8 days in Houghton in our motorhome. We really enjoyed the entire experience. Our server was attentive and friendly. The menu covers all the bases. Servings are plentiful, in fact we brought a portion of each meal home. If we lived in the area, this would definitely be our go-to for Italian. I suggest you read the history of this restaurant. Back to the bread....most of the pasta is made in-house. Maybe they should make their bread in-house. It wasn't terrible and was very edible, but lacking. Everyone loves to talk about the sports that are on the TV (there are quite a few TVs at Smarty's!), as well as discuss the area happenings. We have been made to feel welcome, with genuine smiles and greetings every time we walk in. As an NMU Wildcat, I really love that they show the 'Cats in action whenever they're televised.
