Greeted by the bartenders when we walked in, we chose where to sit and walked up to the bar to oder drinks. They have all the well classics in beer and booze so if you don't want snooty, don't order it. If you want high end cocktails with homemade tinctures - they've got you! So the locals are covered and the tourists are covered. The menu is short and sweet. We ordered everything. Popcorn - cool and yum! They put on a bbq rub instead of plain salt. I liked that touch a lot ( and I love my popcorn!). Hot dog - coney style. You want to bath in the chili! The meat in the hot dog is rich and full of flavor. Soft bun, top notch classic dog. Pulled pork - nice pickled sides add good acidity to the pork. It could use a side of sauces though. It would be cool if they had a carrier of different homemade sauces to choose from. Ribs - sold individually. Kind of a cool concept. Reduces waste which is always a good thing. Good smoke flavor and the sauce was really good too. I do love a Carolina sauce but our fiends didn't care for the sauce (mustard base). Again, this ties back to needing some sauce.

Waiter was very friendly. When my French onion soup arrived, we still had no silverware or napkins. Waiter was quick to respond, but the silverware never showed up. Finally, I went to him and asked again. Not good, but not a dining experience buster. The French onion soup was better than decent. So hot, I had to let it cool...a good thing. I ordered the whitefish almondine...disaster. The crust was horrible and I was able to scrape it off, but still terrible. The almondine part; just sprinkled some almond slivers on the fish after it was cooked. I now kick myself for not sending it back. The side of vegetables were terrible; undercooked and barely warm. I wonder if they were from a can? I should have sent the fish back and offered to pay for the soup. My mistake. My wife had the tacos. Not a good choice in the Michigan Upper Peninsula. She ate one of them and brought the other home, which likely will go uneaten. I dont like bashing a restaurant on Yelp, but this whole meal was a disaster. However, the place was busy and loud. Worst meal in the UP. Worst meal elsewhere in a long time. I do not recommend.

A mix of mostly locals and some campers and boaters (we came by boat and parked at the Dreamland dock). Clean restaurant and bathrooms (always appreciated). We ordered the special: fried chicken with past. My husband loved the combo. The pasta sauce was soooooo goooood. Ordering that as a stand-alone dish would be a winner too. The chicken was fried very nice! The sandwich was one of their famous ones but I don't remember the name. It's the last one on the menu. Our friends love this and always come here for it. I got the whitefish. It was delicate and moist. I was a little bummed that the tartar sauce was not homemade because I bet they'd do a great job at it. Instead it was a premade sauce. Great service. Friendly atmosphere. Nice porch to sit on the rocker after dinner and chill for a bit before heading back to the boat. Did I mention how cool- and unique - a public dock that takes you to a restaurant on the Portage is?! 10 points for that alone!

I had the perch dinner with french fries and my wife had the two piece broasted white meat chicken with wedge fries. The perch tasted very good, but was tough in some spots. It came with four pieces, fries, coleslaw, and a roll and butter. Fries were OK coleslaw was good and the roll was excellent. My wife's chicken was just OK. She expected to get 2 pieces of breast meat, but instead it was what looked like a thigh and then a wing so that was quite disappointing. Some other reviews compared the chicken to Frankenmuth chicken, but it is by no means anywhere near as good as Frankenmuth. We have been to the Bavarian Inn and Zenders at least 100 times because my grandparents lived there and it doesn't compare to their chicken. The potato wedges were really good and she also got coleslaw and a roll. Restaurant itself was clean and had some nice wainscoting. One of the walls was just T111 siding which was a little different.
