We're spending 8 days in Houghton in our motorhome. We really enjoyed the entire experience. Our server was attentive and friendly. The menu covers all the bases. Servings are plentiful, in fact we brought a portion of each meal home. If we lived in the area, this would definitely be our go-to for Italian. I suggest you read the history of this restaurant. Back to the bread....most of the pasta is made in-house. Maybe they should make their bread in-house. It wasn't terrible and was very edible, but lacking. Do NOT let my bread comment prevent you from going to Gino's. You will enjoy it. Highly recommend.

My experience during the last stay has convinced me that I made the wrong choice in picking the Holiday inn Express. Although check-in was fast, the room we were given had a view of a rock pile, and the clock did not work. Had to ask for another room. Was given a room with a nice view. Second day, housekeeping never came to our room. When I asked the clerk about it was told they left for the day. Had to ask for a new room. Given a room with an upgrade (or so I thought). Upgraded room had serious problems with the toilet- appeared partially blocked. Fortunately we were out of there the following day. In all three rooms, the chairs squeaked, and beds seemed like they were from a flophouse. TV didn't even carry ABC. Breakfast was OK - the cinnamon rolls were the only bright spot. The front desk clerk was very helpful despite the circumstances. Never used the pool - but looked like it needed a resurfacing. Learned my lesson - Country Inn and Suites - next time. Hope its better than what I just experienced.

It was a nice drive over and the restaurant has a beautiful lakeside view. The parking lot is more like a scenic turnout and, I suspect, it's a bit of a free-for-all when it gets crowded. The restaurant's decor is beautiful with a strong cozy cabin vibe. IT wasn't very busy when we got there (we had reservations, just in case). Our server was very friendly and helpful, setting a good pace for dinner. The portions for all of our orders were very generous. I'm told that the burger and the crispy fish sandwich were very good. The Jimmy Stewart pork chop - I'm also told - lived up to its reputation. I ordered the dill pickle fried chicken sandwich, which was fine but underwhelming. I would not order it again (admittedly I'd have to be VERY hungry to give that pork chop a go). The menu is expansive and I'm sure that you'll find a new favorite in the mix.

Was a bit surprised to find each entree or appetizer we ordered to be delicious, a big step above what we expected. From the great variety of the Friday fish fry - all excellent! The new chef obviously takes pride in each and every order, and we kept coming back every night to eat here again and again. We had groups of 5 or 6, and everyone had high praise for their meals!
