Quincy's must be doing something right...it was busy. I wish we had left when we saw a sign on the door that indicated they were hiring servers, cooks, and bartenders. Waiter was very friendly. When my French onion soup arrived, we still had no silverware or napkins. Waiter was quick to respond, but the silverware never showed up. Finally, I went to him and asked again. Not good, but not a dining experience buster. The French onion soup was better than decent. So hot, I had to let it cool...a good thing. I ordered the whitefish almondine...disaster. The crust was horrible and I was able to scrape it off, but still terrible. The almondine part; just sprinkled some almond slivers on the fish after it was cooked. I now kick myself for not sending it back. The side of vegetables were terrible; undercooked and barely warm. I wonder if they were from a can? I should have sent the fish back and offered to pay for the soup. My mistake. My wife had the tacos. Not a good choice in the Michigan Upper Peninsula. She ate one of them and brought the other home, which likely will go uneaten. I dont like bashing a restaurant on Yelp, but this whole meal was a disaster. However, the place was busy and loud. We were so hopeful that Quincy's would be good as we had 2 different people recommend it to us on our trip to the Keweenaw. We liked the decor, it was mine themed and had a lot of different artifacts and things having to do with mining. That's about where it ended. Our server was okay, she seemed friendly but wasn't very helpful with choosing what to order and very rarely came back to the table to check on us. The food took a long time to come out, and when it did it was mediocre at best. My husband liked the whitefish and sweet Potato fries, but said he has had better up there. My daughter barely ate her chicken and that is rare for her. I tried it and the breading was very crunchy and not flavorful. The steak is where things really fell flat. It is a petite filet mignon. So it wasn't cheap, but it had ZERO seasoning on it and was EXTREMELY undercooked. I asked for medium rare (described by their menu as warm pink center). I typically like more a of a medium but restaurants typically overcook steak so I went a little less. Now this steak was barely seared on the outside and was cool and purple inside. That was a RARE steak. We joked that it was still mooing. I was waiting for the server to come back so o could have them throw it back on for a bit but she never even made eye contact with our table. No refills on drinks or anything. When she finally returned I had eaten all my veggies and potato so I was full and asked for a box. I cooked the steak at home for a few minutes and had to add a decent amount of seasoning. I don't think we will be returning to Quincy's again. read more

We saw the menu for this restaurant at about every place we went around town and decided to give it a try. We were seated right away and our server got us beverages and took our order in a timely manner. I ordered sauteed shrimp, but couldn't have the suggested sides, due to dietary restrictions. They were happy to let me have a salad and soup for sides instead. The French onion soup was cheesy and delicious. The salad was a standard house salad. There were eight large shrimp with melted butter, plus a few mixed veggies on the plate. I left satisfied. There was plenty of parking and the restaurant had a mix of tables and booths. read more

This restaurant was so cute with its decor. It was full of historic memorabilia on the walls in memory of the copper mining industry. The waitress was very kind, you can tell she was very busy with many tables. It was A LOT of food. The dinners came with a soup or salad, a huge dinner roll, and the entree. We could have forgone the appetizer if we knew how much food we were actually about to get. The French onion soup had a huge layer of cheese on it, which I wish was more crispy and left under the broiler longer. The trout almondine was beautifully crispy and cooked perfectly. The vegetables are just frozen veggies and kind of mushy. The loaded baked potato was delightful. I wish I had room for dessert!! read more

Ordered pizza came with wrong toppings. Service was terrible and they were not busy. No sugar for the ice tea. No spoons to stir the tea. We had the local trout and whitefish prepared with lemon pepper. Portions were big, we both had a side of wild rice and the vegetables were perfect. I had a salad which was good and my husband had the French onion soup. We left nothing on our plates and were stuffed! Service was great. Highly recommend this place. We had a very kind, helpful server. And sadly she has to be the face for the food coming out of the kitchen. We did not have a great food experience. The steak was ordered medium rare and arrived a solid medium center to medium well and well done for the 1+ inch outside edge of the steak. The rice side dish was lukewarm. Quincy's was recommended to us by local business owners so we knew it would be good. All the soups are home made. They have nightly specials. It is clean and homey. Lovely wood rustic decor with mining theme and artifacts so that was a nice touch! We both got locally caught white fish and it was well cooked and seasoned. The staff was friendly and there was loads of locals enjoying themselves. I'd definitely go back! They have a full menu and full bar. Something for everyone! We've been coming to the Houghton area for over 15 years and have driven by this establishment several times, saying "we should try Quincy's". We finally did it and now our biggest regret is not doing so sooner! Although not a large establishment, it is very comfortable. It pays homage to the copper mining history of the area with a model of a shaft house in the bar. There are several mining artifacts in the lobby, which are worth checking out. But that's not what's important. You go to a restaurant to eat, not to look around. My wife had the steak sandwich and I had the sesame chicken. Their house ranch dressing on the salads is made in-house and is excellent. The steak sandwich was cooked perfectly (actually a prime rib sandwich - which is even more important). My sesame chicken was flavorful as well. I also have to credit our server - we told her we were thinking about a pizza and she informed us that there must have been a large order and pizza would take about an hour. I REALLY appreciate when dining establishments do this - I'm OK if I know and am willing to wait but am really annoyed when I don't know (but they do) and am hungry. We go to Quincy's for the Fri fried cod!! BEST in 49931, by far. They have been consistently top tier in taste, crunch AND service. The fish is beer-battered, and prepared in house. So yummy! Very warm and inviting environment. Hundreds of copper mining artifacts adorn the knotty pine interior. Come as you are attire. Food and service was spectacular. Our party had a mix of sandwiches and entrees. The Turkey Noodle soup was very tasty and had a great flavor profile. The chili cheese fries were perfectly prepared as requested. Allyssa was very friendly and her recommendations were spot on. The Rib Eye, Steak Sandwich, and bacon burger were perfectly prepared. Been here 4 times and will never return again. They focus on ripping off snowmobile or Utv/atv tourists. The food sucks and it's expensive.

First night in town after a long days drive; getting really tired; the key to our rental cabin wouldn't work; no cell phone service so we could call from the back porch of our cabin and VERY hungry. So we went to Quincy's for food and a land line phone to call the cabin's rental agent. Bless Quincy's -- they were able to supply the phone and a very good meal to sooth our frazzled nerves. And to make our wait a little more bearable, we were there on Monday evening which is "$2.00 off every steak" Night. So I ordered really savory Creamy French Onion Soup and a Ceasar salad to start, a Petite Fillet, medium-rare, a baked potato with butter and sour cream. Truly one of my comfort food meals. All four in our party had good food and, after we were able to reach the cabin owner to straighten out the snafu with the key, we spent the time lingering over our good meals and exchanging family gossip while our sweet server kept our drinks filled and made sure we had all we required. By the time we got back to the cabin, the rental agent and her husband were there with replacement keys, had switched on the lights inside and out and even started a cheerful, cozy fire in the glass front iron stove in the dining room and bumped up the thermostat on the furnace by a couple of degrees. I went here based on a tip from another upper peninsula maniac. Nice, rustic atmosphere with a friendly waitstaff. I had spaghetti and French onion soup. Both were very good. Not as good as a top notch Italian restaurant, but certainly worth putting in the rotation when in the Keweenah peninsula. They had a few local craft beers on tap from Keweenah Brewing Company as well. If you want to try a solid restaurant away from all of the Michigan Tech students and faculty, this is a good choice. Sometimes it's nice to enjoy a meal without an adjacent table of guys with pocket protectors pontificating about what would happen if they microwaved a ten pound block of dry ice. read more

Bonus points for Quincy's: we didn't get there until about 9:30pm, I'm pretty sure this is the only decent restaurant open in upper Michigan that late... There is a huge selection of food, the pizzas (especially the deep dish) are very good. Service was very friendly and prompt. There are some great items on local history when you walk in.
