The interior doesn't retain much charm of the rich history it claims. The service was at a snail pace (we saw tables with more people ate their food and left way before us)! Then there is the mediocre food again we come to learn in Houghton. The Ahi tacos lacked flavor besides the wasabi taste. The shredded coleslaw mix was piled up high to disguise the tiny amount of tuna buried underneath! Husband got the Italian pasta with shrimp. The $3 up charge for burned garlic bread was insane! But again, this is expected in Houghton. You get charged extra for protein and bread when they're usually included in the meal! Guess this is standard in the UP. Overall, this is definitely NOT worth the hype! If you're looking for historic character then you need a different restaurant. Would not recommend it!

Not quite as good as Southern style ribs, but good enough by Upper Michigan standards. The ribs are only $14. The drinks are so cheap. However, the decor and ambiance are so rust belt. A mix of mostly locals and some campers and boaters (we came by boat and parked at the Dreamland dock). Clean restaurant and bathrooms (always appreciated). We ordered the special: fried chicken with past. My husband loved the combo. The pasta sauce was soooooo goooood. Ordering that as a stand-alone dish would be a winner too. The chicken was fried very nice! The sandwich was one of their famous ones but I don't remember the name. It's the last one on the menu. Our friends love this and always come here for it. I got the whitefish. It was delicate and moist. I was a little bummed that the tartar sauce was not homemade because I bet they'd do a great job at it. Instead it was a premade sauce. Great service. Friendly atmosphere. Nice porch to sit on the rocker after dinner and chill for a bit before heading back to the boat. Did I mention how cool- and unique - a public dock that takes you to a restaurant on the Portage is?! 10 points for that alone!

I had hoped for a locally caught Golden fried Whitefish filet unfortunately it was just a standard square fish patty , fries were okay , service was alright , ambiance left a bit to be desired. All in all the experience was a bit of a letdown. I guess I had imagined something a little more Dreamy.

Our servers were attentive and helpful, however, we had to wait for almost an hour for the food to arrive given their adequately staff. Hubby ordered the Den burger with burger and I had the shrimp ragotoni. I enjoyed the homemade pasta but the entree was a bit heavy with the cream sauce but it does have great flavors. Love they have KBC beers on tap and the blueberry ale was very refreshing. Overall, this is a solid choice in downtown Houghton with lakeside view and good menu options. Do keep in mind that prices are a bit high given it's in the UP. Also, you pay extra for protein in pasta entrees as well as bread in appetizers that's usually included.

The server told us the specials for the day, and I remember there being a LOT - almost as much as what was on the regular menu! We almost got the chicken wings special, but we ordered the burrata caprese appetizer and added prosciutto for $4. It was good! For entrees, I ordered the duck breast, which seems to be a staple item from here. I ordered it medium rare and it was definitely medium at best, but still tender. It is not a huge portion, and I would've like the skin crispier, but the meat itself had great flavor. It sits on a bed of parsnip puree with a blood orange reduction (a little too sweet and too much of it on the plate for me) and sauteed spinach. It left me just satisfied enough, but still a bit hungry. My fiancé got the flank steak, which was probably around 8 oz but the menu doesn't list it, with french fries and some sauteed vegetables. He said he was actually pleased with the type, portion, and cook on the vegetables. The french fries are that "old-fashioned" style, which I really like! And the chimichurri sauce was fresh and flavorful. The service was mid - sometimes it was fairly quick and attentive, other times we felt like we were waiting a long time to be tended to. For a more local, seasonal, "farm-to-table"-esque meal, this is probably the closest you will get in Houghton. The front desk at our hotel said she heard this restaurant was pricey/expensive, but I thought it was pretty fair!

We called this restaurant as it was 10:20, and we wanted to see if they were still taking customers. They told us to come on it. We were seated immediately. They did ask you wear a mask when you first enter. I hears the waitress tell the people behind us that they can only have 6 people max at a table at this time. We ordered once we were seated. My fettucine alfredo was delicious. My husband enjoyed his burger as wel. The server was quick and provided us with our food quiet quickly. I felt bad because he had to deal with 6 loud young teens that did not even order yet. We left at exactly 11pm when they close. The group had just ordered their food.
