Due to a last minute change of plans, we ended up getting a hotel near houghton. We arrived late and checked in. We called this restaurant as it was 10:20, and we wanted to see if they were still taking customers. They told us to come on it. We were seated immediately. They did ask you wear a mask when you first enter. I hears the waitress tell the people behind us that they can only have 6 people max at a table at this time. We ordered once we were seated. My fettucine alfredo was delicious. My husband enjoyed his burger as wel. The server was quick and provided us with our food quiet quickly. I felt bad because he had to deal with 6 loud young teens that did not even order yet. We left at exactly 11pm when they close. The group had just ordered their food. I tend to really hate going in before close because I fee rude. Sadly, we were starving from a 6 hour drive and no service. read more

Pasta was over cooked and totally hard & rubbery. I had to physically rip it with my hands. It also had no flavor & the chicken & broccoli both tasted bland and like they had come from a TV dinner. i've genuinely had better alfredo in a TV dinner. and you wouldn't know the waitress was a waitress if she didn't have a uniform on, she wasn't attentive and wasn't friendly. I might also add that the forks were dirty and we had to ask for new ones & the bathroom smelled so horrendous, it rivaled the bathroom you'd experience at a rest stop. I gave up on this Applebees over a year ago after my husband and I were seated, then ignored. We sat there and watched a couple come in five minutes behind us, get their drink right away, then their order taken. Not ONE person ever even came up to us. Not even drinks.We sat there for about 15 minutes,....at this point as a joke to see hoe long it would take. After that, I was pissed! We walked out and the door girl said "Hope you enjoyed your dinner",....I just laughed and said "We were ignored, but thanks for asking!" Stupid us, we tried again not that long ago. We were served this time, but nothing to brag about. Mediocre at best. The food is always too much. Over seasoned to hind the nasty food. Just not worth it. I would only suggest going here if you are young, single, college guy that is just looking for a cute, stupid college girl, and a bottled beer! Don't get the on tap flat beer. read more

After a horrible experience at an Applebee's in Nebraska, I have sworn to never eat at any Applebee's again! However, my mother in law is visiting and she really wanted to eat lunch at Applebee's today. This Applebee's truly impressed me! The staff was nice and the food was really good! Not to mention our waitress was very good! We had an appetizer, drinks, and two create your own lunch specials.... Everything was delicious and we left with full and happy bellies. Unfortunately this Applebee's is as gross as any other I've rarely been in. Thought I would take a chance because people in Houghton usually take pride in their work. We were cold after winter carnival so we went for lunch. The service was adequate except the manager trying to explain to me that the caked on food on my soup spoon was "tarnish" . The computer at our booth was full of greasy smudges. There were crumbs all over the windowsill at our booth. The bathroom was filthy. Walking back from the bathroom I saw that a picture hanging on the wall even had greasy smudges. It must be Applebee's work culture that ignores filth. This is not the first time I've been disgusted at an Applebee's. When we mentioned how dirty it was to our family we were told that my aunt has been sick a couple times after eating there. Waitress seemed mad to be there and acted like it pained her to wait on us. A bummer because I was trying to enjoy a rare outing with nieces but she made us uncomfortable, wondering what we did wrong. We were polite but asking for the undelivered gravy = huffed away with a silent grim face to get it; a couple more people seated with us by the hostess = "oh we have 3 more people?" No welcome. Kitchen (at least she blamed the kitchen) forgot half my lunch combo so we waited for that after my nieces were done eating and ansy to leave. Would it kill her to smile? No because she forced some out with the bill. Ate most of my meal with no soda. Not recommended at all! Service from walking in the door should have been a hint. Not welcoming at all!! Walked in at 10:30 pm to get a quick bit to eat (sign says 11pm closed) I even said at the door "sorry so late can we please get a quick bit?". Cold sholder, I felt was incorect, especially when a company advertises "late night 1/2 off apps". Food awful and may I add a toothpick in my friends salad! Service and food has taken a nose dive in the past few years. Food generally prepared haphazardly, often cold. Honestly the burgers are not even on par with the local fast food joints anymore. Fries are cold and rubbery. Appetizers often set too long under heat lamps. Some servers seem irritated most of the time. I've even had a drink that tasted like a cleaning solvent had not been rinsed out before the beverage was prepared in the container. Honestly I hope this is one of the Applebee's that is going to be closing so that a better bistro can come to the area. It's almost as if they don't even care anymore. read more

I have nothing but good comments for our Applebees in Houghton, MI. We are frequent visitors at our Applebees. They meet us at the door, we ask if we can sit where we like to if the booth is empty and they say sure, go right ahead. The server is always quick to come over and ask us for our drink requests. Our meals are always great. I only wish they would get some other specials in space of the Southwest ones. Too spicy for me. I do like anything else I get. Our server comes to our booth several times to see if we need anything or more drinks. Even the Managers who know us stop by and say hi. This is a great place to relax and have good food. read more
