    Eggs, potatoes, sausage, toast

I should clarify before I begin, this review is only for breakfast. We were not able to have lunch as they only serve breakfast on Sundays. Got seated pretty quickly, though there was a large line of larger parties waiting. Took about 10 minutes to order, though they were busy so I can't fault them for that. I had the Canadian Special with a side of challah toast and sausage, and my wife had an omelet with rye toast. When our food finally came there was a lot of confusion as to whether or not it was our food or another table's food. Then we noticed that neither of us got the toast we ordered, though we were assured it was. For the food, the eggs were very overcooked and thin. The potatoes were okay. The sausage was very bland and overcooked, almost dry. The french toast was decent; nice and thick. Wife's omelet was okay. She said the "rye" bread tasted like whole wheat. I felt bad for out waitress, she was very clearly trying her hardest and had too many tables to take care of. I plan to come back and try lunch (what I was hoping to get originally), but won't be back for breakfast.

Absolutely one of the best menus and breakfasts we've ever had. The chef (didn't get her name but learned her back story ;))... was fantastic, friendly, funny - you know, the whole UP experience. Super comfy and relaxed. Lots of great jockey memorabilia. Highly recommend. The 3.5 stars on Yelp should be 5.

DELICIOUS! And incredible low price. After camping and traveling, this was a welcome discovery. Thanks so much for a delicious breakfast.

Here's the worst omelette never served. This place has the worst service I've ever encountered.

Perhaps the slowest service we've had in years. Pretty straight forward order - 3 omelettes, 2coffee and 1 hot chocolate. The initial coffee and hot chocolate made it to the table within 10 minutes. Refills were about as rare as unicorns. The restaurant was less than 50% capacity - still can't figure it out. Kind of a bummer, because we had heard so much good about this place but I can't recommend it because after an hour we had to go and never got our omelettes. By far, the worst service I have had. We will not be back!

Victorias Kitchen has been serving my breakfast since day one in Houghton, and I Wouldn't have it any other way! Quite often I find myself ordering omelette's however when I have tried the lunch menu it did not disappoint me. The only downside to Vicktorias Kitchen is the chance that if you come on a very busy day, perhaps welcome weekend up at MTU you may have to wait a bit for your food. Fresh pastries for sale always and jam in the late spring !

Surprised... fresh vegetables in the omelette, really good bread, very reasonable prices.

This appears to be highly recommended place in town while staying on budget. Indeed it was! We had…read morea table on the outdoor patio with lakefront view which elevates the entire meal. Our servers were attentive and helpful, however, we had to wait for almost an hour for the food to arrive given their adequately staff. Hubby ordered the Den burger with burger and I had the shrimp ragotoni. I enjoyed the homemade pasta but the entree was a bit heavy with the cream sauce but it does have great flavors. Love they have KBC beers on tap and the blueberry ale was very refreshing. Overall, this is a solid choice in downtown Houghton with lakeside view and good menu options. Do keep in mind that prices are a bit high given it's in the UP. Also, you pay extra for protein in pasta entrees as well as bread in appetizers that's usually included.

We sat on the patio (dog-friendly!) around 5:30pm on a Tuesday evening. The patio overlooks the…read morewater, and there's about 6-7 tables total. The server told us the specials for the day, and I remember there being a LOT - almost as much as what was on the regular menu! We almost got the chicken wings special, but we ordered the burrata caprese appetizer and added prosciutto for $4. It was good! For entrees, I ordered the duck breast, which seems to be a staple item from here. I ordered it medium rare and it was definitely medium at best, but still tender. It is not a huge portion, and I would've like the skin crispier, but the meat itself had great flavor. It sits on a bed of parsnip puree with a blood orange reduction (a little too sweet and too much of it on the plate for me) and sauteed spinach. It left me just satisfied enough, but still a bit hungry. My fiancé got the flank steak, which was probably around 8 oz but the menu doesn't list it, with french fries and some sauteed vegetables. He said he was actually pleased with the type, portion, and cook on the vegetables. The french fries are that "old-fashioned" style, which I really like! And the chimichurri sauce was fresh and flavorful. The service was mid - sometimes it was fairly quick and attentive, other times we felt like we were waiting a long time to be tended to. For a more local, seasonal, "farm-to-table"-esque meal, this is probably the closest you will get in Houghton. The front desk at our hotel said she heard this restaurant was pricey/expensive, but I thought it was pretty fair!
