We have came here for years and normally very pleased with the food ... exceptional for bar food. But this review is for 2 of their daily specials. The Friday fish was not good and wouldn't get ever again. But the Wednesday chicken and dumplings was awful. Even my husband wouldn't eat it and he was in the army and not a picky eater. For one thing it was supposed to be dumplings and it was like they tossed a hard biscuit in the overly salty mess. We would ever get either again. Sorry these specials are a big fat NO. read more

I enjoyed my visit to Laff's. Love the classic interior with exposed brick and ornate hardwood bar. Bar seating was very comfortable and we ate there. There is also a second room with several low tip tables that would be good for groups, along with a pool table AND a pinball machine. I really wanted to play but the machine was very close to an occupied table and I felt it would be awkward. I will scope it out next visit. The barmaid was very kind, funny and very friendly to newcomers. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich + lettuce and tomato and unfortunately it arrived on untoasted bread which made it soggy. I spoke up and she agreed the cook blew it and had it remade in a jiffy. The chicken salad has grapes and chopped nuts...like a Waldorf salad and it was amazingly delicious. Way beyond what you'd expect for "bar food." My husband had the grilled chicken dinner and said the chicken breast was just ok but he was very happy with the baked potato and the salad. I've been coming here for 3 years religiously. I am appalled at the service I got tonight by a blonde waitress that had no situational awareness. we sat for at least 30 minutes and i wasn't greeted until i went up and asked for menus. she then proceeded to take ANOTHER 15 minutes to come over and ask our drink orders and then I had to go up to the bar after 20 minutes TO GET OUR DRINKS and as i was doing that our food was coming out. I'm a server myself and cannot believe Jaqueline is letting her business run that way. I texted a few friends and they've all said the same thing has happened to them. Heard some good buzz about this place so we drove here on a Saturday afternoon to check it out (35 minute drive.) The front room is a bar and all hi-tops, so we ate in the back room. We shared some nachos that had a lot of cheese and toppings on them--they were delicious. I also had a bowl of homemade chili that was pretty good and a double decker BLT that was one of the best BLTs I have had in quite a while. Plus a couple of draft beers. Service was friendly and attentive. This would be a nice place to meet up with friends in a laid back atmosphere. I was in here recently and only had one beer and they decided to cut me off. Terrible policy and feel on the bartenders parts. Food is as good as it ever was in the old days and they have painted the walls and ditched the pool table to make way for a few more tables which are all improvements. Got takeout for a small group given the current dine-in ban. Our group got multiple different types of wings, nacho fries, fried green bean, waffle fries, and even a fish sandwich. The wings were huge! Everyone enjoyed the various sauces on the wings. The nacho fries were good'ish. I could see their potential for dining in when they're fresh, but they were just so loaded that the fries weren't prime anymore by the time we were eating them. Wings traveled very well. Grabbed lunch here with several co-workers. No one had issues with the quality of food but several orders were wrong and service was below par. It appears the waitress wrote the orders up correctly but the kitchen staff couldn't seem to get it right. Drinks were not refilled and some never got their drinks. This place is great! My wife and I decided to stop here after we found it with the Yelp application. We got the sampler pladder, and everything was quite good; however, the chicken wings are AMAZING.
