Overall, not my favorite bar, but its ok for a neighborhood one clearly - as night went on i think more came for the music ?

Deer Park Tavern is a good neighborhood bar. It's not as territorial as it used to be. Previously…read moreit was a lot nastier and you avoided this if you weren't a regular. It changed a few years ago. This is still a dive but you can get some good drinks and enjoy yourself. It says they have been there since 1888. In reality, the building has been there since then. The building has been used for various purposes over the years. It was first a local meeting spot. Then it turned into a tavern. It changed ownership a few years ago. The bar looks like it's gotten some much needed attention because it's clean and things look new. It has several modern TVs above the bar. The patio is the coolest thing. It's shaded and you can barely see it from outside. This is a popular spot for Bengals games, when this bar gets packed. This is a nice neighborhood bar. It's divey but not dumpy. Try coming for a game.

You can order flights or cocktails. They also have a full service bar. Our service was exceptional. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. All the staff worked together well to create a smooth and enjoyable dinner. We ordered the whipped feta as an appetizer. It was delicious- fresh, flavorful with a touch of sweetness and served with pita triangles. Our Yard Old Fashioned and Tamarind Dream cocktails were very good. For main courses we had the gnocchi carbonara with an added chicken breast and the short rib served with polenta. The gnocchi was very flavorful. I do think the short rib/polenta could have more flavor. For dessert the banana and chocolate pie was amazing. Even though we shared it - we took home a decent portion (the serving size was huge!). It was definitely a great choice.

I had a bowl of chili and the Clubhouse Sandwich. The Chili was like Syline Chili without the spaghetti. No chunks of ground beef, just particles of beef swimming homogeneous in the soup. No character at all and very bland. The sandwich was sparsely populated with what tasted like leftover turkey, ham, bacon and cheese - very bland and with an "off" taste. I managed to finish the Chili, but picked over the sandwich. The beer and service was good - I can't blame the help for the lousy food. Not sure I'll eat here again, but may stop by for a beer because I live real close by.

Mullet Review said the crispy buffalo rolls were delicious. I'm not a picky eater, but this is one item that I would never order off of a menu; but knowing everything has tasted so good here, I decided to try them. And they did not disappoint. I even loved these! The cream cheese (I believe) adds a nice balance to the strong buffalo flavor. Another favorite of mine is the pork chops; fantastic! Also, the prices are all very reasonable for a place that makes everything from scratch. The only thing that could use improvement are the potato skins. The pieces were very big and so the potatoes weren't cooked enough and were hard. But the flavor was right! Great rewards program too, for discounts on future orders.

The bartender was handling the table service this evening and did a great job. You would have thought that she had known us for years. She is super friendly! It wasn't crowded tonight when we got there but it did pick up quick. Despite the additional guests that came in she was on top of it. My wife ordered a Diet Coke and I ordered a tall Miller Lite. The draft beer was exceptionally cold which I like. We ordered our food which was 6 buffalo wings for me with a wedge salad and Bleu cheese. My wife ordered the shepherd's pie with came with a small salad. When our food came out the presentation was great as well as piping hot. She had to let her entree cool a bit before eating it. My wings were very meaty and loaded with sauce. (No need to ask for extra) The wedge salad was huge and delicious as well. I got their homemade Bleu cheese with it and definitely don't regret that. Note the wings came with Bleu cheese and celery also. My wife loved her salad and couldn't stop raving over the Shepherds pie. I did get a taste and must agree with her on how good it was. I took half of my salad and a full Bleu cheese home with me for tomorrow and my wife also brought home half of her meal. We ended up ordering the brown butter cake to split for desert which I will say was outstanding. We will surely go back and only wish that we had tried it sooner. Don't sleep on this one or you will be missing out.
