Oh my gosh I cannot breathe in this place so much smoke. This is like Marbro country. If you're not a smoker you will not like this place.

Lovely! We had eaten here a dozen or so years ago and I remember being sad that there was not…read morereally that much on the menu that qualified as Italian. But that was then and this is now, and the current hands-on owners give us a truly Italo-centric experience! It feels very European in here. All brick walls and an archway between the bar room and the dining room. Big wine rack in the dining room. The bar is also quite attractive and looks comfortable. I don't recall hearing any music but we were there at lunchtime on Sunday. Fire grilled artichokes grabbed me so we got this for an app. I admit I didn't read the description completely. The dish had seven little artichoke quarters drowning in Alfredo sauce. The artichoke was sweet and tender but all that sauce really overwhelmed it and this app is overpriced for the quantity. Later I realized we could have had them served with EVOO and parmesan which I would have much preferred. It was disappointing that the waitress didn't ask which preparation we wanted, and that the kitchen apparently did not ask her, either. Our two pasta dishes were delectable and the amount of protein was quite generous. We both loved our sauces, and the spicy Italian sausage (house made!) was out of this world. They sliced it nice and thin and there was so much, I was really in Heaven. The fettuccine and the capellini were done to perfect al dente. Our waitress did a great job and checked on us often. She was handling several tables and was constantly on the move but kept up well with all her guests. I was thrilled to see Limoncello cake on the dessert menu but a bit shocked at the high price. Of course it is possible you get a huge slice and I will definitely research this further next time! I plan on coming back, and soon.

I was excited for my second visit, timing my lunch on a western drive from Ohio to Indiana. Happy…read moreto have a reprieve from dodging the semis on I70. I wasn't as surprised this time by the location in a neighborhood, something that gives it a very welcome feel and suggests with the addition of a covered outdoor porch with picnic tables that this is a good neighborhood hang. I was late for lunch, almost two but there were some folks still finishing up. Good vibe, good music and casual atmosphere. I opted for the Takoyaki app which was tasty and not so burning hot that it scorched the roof of your mouth. Also the right amount of mayonnaise as opposed to often an excess. The Ramen Flight was fun in principle but I wouldn't do it again. I unwisely and perhaps naively assumed there would be mini versions of the full serving of Tonkotsu broth with Mayo, Thai curry and Szechuan with scallions. But it really is just the broth and ramen. Expected the Szechuan to have some heat and peppery lip buzz but did not. The Thai curry was super salty. Just missed some option of veggies and protein. Finally I would suggest not sitting near the front near the stairs to the kitchen. The spot has competing music soundtracks with two different play lists battling between your two ears.

YE Gurl Says: Hidden Vibes, Solid Bites at Speakeasy Ramen…read more Place: Speakeasy Ramen Address: 365 Ludlow Avenue, Springfield, OH Date: March 26 Accompanying the beau on a work day trip, he said he looked up a ramen spot to go to. So we pulled up to Speakeasy Ramen not knowing exactly what to expect, but let me tell you--it's giving lowkey, tucked-away gem with personality. A large house turned restaurant with a large patio and on a rather unassuming neighborhood block... I was taken aback. What we ordered: * Moto Taco * Takoyaki * Panko Shrimp * Thai Curry Ramen * Spicy Cheese Ramen (sub shrimp) * Lychee Ramune * Yuengling Total: ~$64 for two -- and honestly? Not bad at all for the spread. Let's get into it. The apps came out swinging. The takoyaki had that classic savory, slightly crispy outside with soft center situation going on in the traditional balls not the pancake style and the panko shrimp delivered the crunch you expect. Moto taco? Fun, different--definitely a good start to the meal. Now the ramen... The Thai Curry Ramen brought flavor--rich, warm, and a nice switch-up from your standard broth. But the standout? Spicy Cheese Ramen with shrimp I know... it sounds like it could go left. But it actually works. Creamy mac and chesse sauce vibes, spicy, indulgent--this is one of those bowls that's not traditional, but you're not mad about it either. Drinks were simple--Ramune for a little nostalgic pop, and a casual beer to round it out. YE Gurl Insight: This isn't your polished, big-city ramen bar--and that's exactly the point. It's got character, a little creativity, and enough flavor to make you remember it. Could it compete with spots in Chicago or New York City? Yes and it has even won awards and been in some food mags. This is how the beau found it. Crazy right! It's a strong showing. Final Take: If you're in the area and want something casual but not boring, this is worth the stop. Good variety, solid portions, and a menu that's willing to play a little. YE Gurl Says: Pull up, order a few things, and don't overthink it--this is a "try a little bit of everything and enjoy the ride" kind of spot.

I will say this: if I lived in Cincinnati then I would definitely be coming here very often. It was…read morea super dope spot with an amazing vibe . First things first, if you're going to go you are probably just going to be doing street parking. Parking is not hard to find, especially if you're going to do that at a later hour is going to be free on the street so that part is no problem at all. You're going to come in and you're going to get greeted by security. Now he'll give you a choice: take the steps or take the elevator. If you are not a fan of steps, then don't do that because it's probably 5 stories down lol . I enjoy it so it's not a big deal for me but if you have an issue or you have heels, you may want to take the elevator because it's going to feel like you're going into the dungeon lol. When you finish taking the journey you're going to go ahead and navigate to the first part, which is going to be the large bar area. It looks like it's very old and rustic but it has a very nice bar feel and a very nice vibe to it. The bar is pretty sizable and there are tables around there so you can sit at the bar or sit at tables on either side. They have an ample amount of space so that isn't an issue at all . The bartender seemed to be super friendly even though that's not where I stayed. I went to the next room, which is going to have the location that you have all of the performances at. We were walking in and the performance was getting revved up. It was amazing and it was a super dope vibe. I loved it. Again if I lived here, I would definitely make this a spot on my regular rotation. Now in the performance area, you definitely have a bar there so you can actually get drinks no matter where you are. Don't expect food though. It's a nice spot to go for drinks on a night out, or a date night, or in a group setting where you don't mind music in the background . The hostess was able to seat everybody at the table and they came right away with the menus and the water and proceeded to navigate the drink situation. I had wine so that was pretty much where I was sitting during my time there but they had a couple different things that looked very intricate and very craftworthy . But what stole the show was the performance. Even though I know that that's not going to be the same performer every night, it gave a certain amount of energy that was amazing! I loved it from beginning to end and I'm kind of mad that I missed it a little bit but it was awesome. The performance was good and the crowd work was just as good. Overall this place is a 5-star situation for me. The only thing that I had a problem with was the fact that my phone signal was bad because, clearly, I was 4 stories in the earth lol. Really it was a really good time and if you like live music, tuck-away speakeasy cocktail vibes, or old-school stage performances with a live band, this is definitely going to be your bag!

Easy to locate, free street parking, safe neighborhood. It's a melting pot for sure. Once we walked in, we were greeting by a gentleman who inquired if we had reservations, yadda yadda yadda. Nah. They had room for us, it was after 12am. We caught the elevator down and ventured in. Great décor and vibe. The bar was lively. We chose the velvet seats against the wall. Hubby and I ordered the following. The Ghost's Favorite & my request for "Something Sweet w Whiskey". Both beverages did what they were supposed to do. Very tasty, pleasing and a great sip. I didn't catch my bartender's name but he was very nice and a stellar mixologist. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a chill place to vibe w a beverage. Only downfall, it was 40° in there. We were freezing !! I'd still return, I'll just bring a coat next time. Lol
