Low key neighborhood bar - feels too much of a home to me compared to a bar ? I almost missed it and wasnt sure where to enter since i feel its not clearly marked ? Nice to have a little stage for outdoor music and had good seating for it as well. Had one drink and was little weak on the liquor when asked for a "Jack & Coke" so i didnt get another drink . Chips were a "bar food" choice at the bar but nothing else so eat bsfore you get here. Deer Park Tavern is a good neighborhood bar. It's not as territorial as it used to be. Previously it was a lot nastier and you avoided this if you weren't a regular. It changed a few years ago. This is still a dive but you can get some good drinks and enjoy yourself. It says they have been there since 1888. In reality, the building has been there since then. The building has been used for various purposes over the years. It was first a local meeting spot. Then it turned into a tavern. It changed ownership a few years ago. The bar looks like it's gotten some much needed attention because it's clean and things look new. It has several modern TVs above the bar. The patio is the coolest thing. It's shaded and you can barely see it from outside. This is a popular spot for Bengals games, when this bar gets packed. This is a nice neighborhood bar. It's divey but not dumpy. If you're looking for a good dive, this one is a step above the rest. - It's clean. - The bartenders are friendly. - They have amazing specials! (A bucket of domestics was 5 or $9) - They have featured product lines. This occasion was Old Smokey Moonshine all drinks were on special. - They have TWO patios. - And last but not least they have corn hole! The inside is very dark, but make your way outside and you will see a long narrow patio with plenty of patio tables surrounded by Ivy growing up the walls. It's covered so it stays shaded on those hot summer days. The main patio is basically a giant backyard. It is a very large rectangle shape with a nice concrete slab with nice wrought iron patio furniture and fire pits. There is also a bar outside (although it looks like it hasn't been used over the winter) and even stage! Not sure if they have live music or not, I wish I would have asked. We grabbed a few pints and went outside to play corn hole before long we had an audience up on the patio near the bar. I don't think they get very lively people here, they were all so excited to watch us play. It looks like another reviewer mentions that they switched ownership a few years back and you can certainly tell. Deer Park Inn (or DPI as the regulars call it) is pretty much you're typical hole in the wall bar, but man it's a fun bar to hang out at. First of all, the owner here despises the Ohio smoking ban and lets people smoke here (hence the signs that say "This is a PRIVATE establishment open to the PUBLIC"). It's a little disorienting after living with the smoking ban but it's easy to get over. There's plenty of outdoor space on the patio (with cornhole!) to avoid the smoke. Beer selection is usual for a small bar, all your domestics plus some craft beers in bottles. When I went, Warsteiner was also on tap for $3.50 which is a pretty good price. For all it's "hole-in-the-wallness" (yes I just made up that word) it's still a more than decent bar. read more

DPI was considered a monolith in the local bar scene. That mythical place that had always been there and always would be. Well it's gone and it's been replaced by something that is in my opinion MUCH better. In it's previous life this place was VERY locals only. I came in on occasion to hang out with friends who were regulars and because I loved the bartenders but was always uncomfortable here. No matter how well you knew the bartender or how many people you knew in the bar there would always be that group eyeballing you all night as if to say, "Who do you think you are coming into MY bar". Those days are done. New ownership. New management. New name. It's DPT (Deer Park Tavern) now and I know this will be controversial in the area for sometime but these folks saved this bar. They've given it a much needed face lift. It no longer looks or feels like a dive but rather like a destination... a casual lounge where you can relax after work. New flooring, new drop ceiling, new bar stools, new tables, new chairs, new commode in the men's room, new paint, new light fixtures, new ceiling fans... just NEW! It's retained the old intimate feel but is much better appointed. You'll see a lot of the same people there and with it's new much more inviting atmosphere you'll see new faces as well. Went in last night with some friends. Two of our group of four had been regulars in the past and the others had been occasional visitors and we all agreed, this place is comfortable, well priced, clean, well staffed (Cassandra is not just good at what she does but very welcoming and Jackie is still there!) and a place we will all start hitting on a regular basis. Total bar for the regulars. I would come here before I moved to Chicago for corn hole on the patio in the summer and Bengals games (they have free food for those). The first time I came back after moving back to Cinci I felt a little out of place, but as soon as my friends joined me I felt more comfortable. Everyone knows everyone so being the only person in there that was foreign felt awkward. Cheap drinks (then again everything seems cheap compared to Chicago). Dive-y? Smoking allowed. Smoky. If you're a non-smoker, you will not enjoy the atmosphere here. The seats are full of regulars who all have old beer cans as ashtrays in front of them. If you are a smoker, you'll enjoy the prompt service and the regulars who are looking for someone new to talk to. Deer Park Tavern is the new and improved Deer Park Inn. The new owners fell off in love with the bar and wanted to keep the same feel, yet update the bar. The inside is updated and looks great. The outside has so much to offer...music, corn hole, great landscaping. It's the perfect place for a quick drink or a fun evening of music and fun. read more
