NOT a "d i v e bar" by any stretch of the imagination. This is a charming tavern with old school ambiance, sturdy wooden bar, tables, and chairs (not stools). The bar room has two little "snuggery" areas in the windows up front and we sat in one today when we came for brunch. Fifteen beers on tap. Great classic rock feed. Two additional dining rooms and a big outdoor seating area that actually looks comfortable. The regular menu of soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, wraps and mains looked really good, but it was 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, right after church, and Doc's serves up breakfast all day Sunday! Including a $7 Bloody with salt rim, lime wedge and three olives - as spicy as you want it. Loved. My husband had the breakfast bowl and was amazed at the quantity and quality of the food. The sliced fresh mushrooms were especially notable. For me, Chicken and Waffles is the very essence of Sunday Brunch, and I was quite pleased. Also a hearty serving, two big chicken cutlets and two thick waffles dusted with powdered sugar. I took half home and finished it for supper. Ask for the Sriracha Syrup on the side, and if you're not a Sriracha fan they will give you regular syrup on request. I got both! When we arrived there was just one other couple at the bar who had already ordered food, but over the next 30 minutes at least ten people in various groupings came in and some went to the dining room. There was just one gal, the bartendress, to wait on everyone and she did a great job keeping up with it all, even checking on us. We were starving after hitting Charm at the Barn and realized we hadn't eaten a thing since early that morning during our coffee drive thru sharing a blueberry lemon cake. By this time it was almost 230 pm on a Saturday. Greg welcomed us and got us our drinks and we ordered the same cheeseburger with fries and aioli sauce for dipping. The only difference between our orders was my BFF wanted her burger to MOO and I wanted mine more med-well. They not only got the order right, we both got the cheeseburger we wanted. After a long afternoon at the corn maze and pumpkin patch, I was in dire need of nourishment. Luckily, I remembered Docs Place in Lebanon! This place is a dive bar the best way, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I tried the fried green beans, crispy and fried perfectly with a side of Chipotle mayo, the house reuben with a side of sweet potato fries and the veggie burger. The reuben had tons of pastrami and cheese, very good and hearty. The standout of the day was the veggie burger with touches of curry and cumin in the mix and a very tasty black bean base. Docs is THE place to be!! So welcoming and just an overall good vibe. We came in on a Thursday around noon when we didn't have work, got some beer and an apple cider bourbon drink which was PHENOMENAL! Also got a cup of the bacon potato soup that was soooo delicious. The salad was great, loaded with bleu cheese crumbles, bacon bits, nuts/seeds and fresh spinach. The lemon dressing was too oily with little flavor so I recommend picking a different dressing. I slacked and didn't get pictures here but the chicken Alfredo was almost life changing! It was soooo good, the best I've had anywhere and Italian is one of my favorite foods so I've tried a few! We also got a side salad and a side (sweet potato fries, which were delicious as well!). Among the best restaurants in Lebanon. It has awesome drinks and pretty good food. The service is kind of slow. It helps that it has a nice bar and patio. They also have lots of TVs on sports. I had a Kentucky Bourbon Ale. It's about $5 for a pint. That's pretty good because it's strong. As for the food, it has a lot of typical bar stuff and some healthier options. They have a few wraps. I had a vegetable wrap with hummus. This is $11, and comes with a side. It was a little much to pay for. This comes with eggplant, hummus, and red pepper. I liked drinking and eating in the bar. Giving Doc's an upgrade to 3-stars. A decade ago, we went to Doc's and it was an authentic Italian restaurant. Scratch made everything, and an amazing chef & crew behind the scenes. A few years back, we visited again. It had changed to an upscale bar food sort of place. It was loud, the service was terrible, and I left them with a 2-star review. I heard Doc's had changed hands again, so we decided to tempt fate and visit. We walked in, and it was really loud. I've been to concerts quieter than this. We exchanged glances, and decided to check out the last room to see if it were any better. It was. There was a cold draft blowing on us from under the table, so we relocated. Temperature was still cold, but at least tolerable. And it was much quieter, so we sat down again. Waiter was a young man, certainly personable. I asked for a beer and wine list and he had it completely memorized. I appreciated his leading question: "What type do you like?" It saved us both. He was the certainly the star of the show. He handled his several tables with grace and efficiency. I asked if I should order the hamburger or the Reuben. He said, "If you like Reubens, you'll really appreciate ours." I gave it a shot and was very happy with it. My wife ordered the hamburger, and she said it was good. I would say you might save your money on the "Bacon tater tots," as they were fairly underwhelming, but the beer selection made up for it. All in all, Doc's didn't disappoint this time. Totally enjoyed our stop at Doc's Place. It's around the corner from the Golden Lamb, so possibly overlooked as a destination within Lebanon. My wife and I tried to eat here recently, but after getting a seat and then being ignored for over ten minutes we left. If the place had been busy we would have waited longer, but that wasn't the case. At least half the tables were empty. The employees just weren't interested in us. I was truly excited to try this establishment. During Covid if I go out I want to see the mom and pop places and give them my money. The service was slow. Expected somewhat. I guess an owner was actually blaming guests for complaining that the service was slow. What kind of owner comes in and does that and then proceeds to walk up the street? I feel at the very least he could have stopped by our tables who have not had a drink refill for 45 minutes and offered to refill them, especially since we were not outwardly complaining. Now the waitress was really sweet and amazing. Lord knows she worked her tail off. The food was amazing as well. It does take a while to get. We got one of each of the burgers and the fried green beans. For anyone who has never tried these. Please try them. The burgers are huge and delicious! We never had a chance to try out the bar menu since we decided to stop after running around all morning we initially wanted just a soda to start but we couldn't seem to get attention to add on any liquor drinks. I would go back to this place again but only if I knew I had the time and wasn't really hungry and wanted to hang out a while. The food is worth it. Service with the waitress is lovely. Went to Docs Place for the first time tonight & I was surprisingly impressed. Smaller place, with three different areas that actually have a lot of seating even though the restaurant isn't that big. The menu had sandwiches, salads, a pasta dish or two but mostly bar food. My son & husband ordered the heart attack burger & loved it! It did look exquisite I will say! I ordered the rooster, which was a fried chicken sandwich with cheese, avocado & a jalapeño jelly. So good! Chicken was juicy & the jalapeño jelly was obviously homemade. Plus we all got our sandwiches on a brioche bun which is a favorite for us! Really enjoyed the small town bar/restaurant atmosphere & the staff was very welcoming! My only complaint was the draft beer list was kind of small- about 8-10 beers on tap and mostly IPA's or just domestic, and the beer my husband tried to order they ended up being out of. This place had a local tavern feel to it. A lot of local patrons. The food was good, especially the burgers. I also really liked their fried green beans with chipotle aïoli sauce. My husband got the home made onion rings and really enjoyed them as well. Our waitress was nice and proficient. I've never been here before- actually never noticed it before. But, I was in Lebanon and I was starving and we spotted it. When we walked in, I wasn't really expecting much as far as food- because it was a bar. But, geeze- I was so wrong- Yes, I'll be the first to admit it. My husband had the Doc burger and I had a side of broccoli and rice and it was delicious. My husband's fries- which I snuck off his plate while he was in the restroom- because of course "I don't eat fries" and they were crisp, fresh, and perfectly spiced. But, my broccoli hit the spot with the ting of parmesan cheese baked perfectly into the steamed finished product. It was perfect. Also, the beers were cold and refreshing. Over priced and the wait time was horrible. Food was mediocre. I spoke to the owner who said it was due to COVID and I explained that it was more a management problem. The servers were scattered throughout the restaurant instead of staying in a designated location. They only had one order machine which was also the cash register for the entire place except maybe the bar. The owner was gracious enough to comp our entire bill because we wait an hour and a half for our food. Two salads, two grilled cheese, and 2 burgers. I don't think we will be back. read more
