Never had Kava before so I was intrigued. The taste was definitely strong but I was able to drink it without much issue. It did make me feel a lot more relaxed and I felt nice lol the service was ok. They seemed a little annoyed or bothered but it's ok. The atmosphere was really cute. It was like a little rustic coffee shop.

Such a chill spot for an elixir experience. Great alternative to drinking alcohol with a choose your euphoria vibe. Very friendly staff, wonderful ambience, and great arts district location!

I attended a new moon sound bath in the courtyard behind this bar, and it was lovely! The venue was kind and helpful, and the Kava I tried was...probably what Kava is supposed to taste like! The restroom was clean and cozy with lots of stuff on a bulletin board to read. I would recommend this spot if you're into Kava!

One of my favorite Kava bars in the Phoenix area, always a vibe when we come to this place. The bartenders are always very inviting and friendly and they always know exactly what to serve you depending on how you are feeling. The drinks here are fantastic and whether you want to relax or get another jump start, this place has the fix for you. They host events as well, like an open mic night I happen to catch on a Tuesday evening but it was great to see what everyone brought that evening. Make sure you check out this kava spot, you won't regret it!

Such a neat find! I drove out to check out open mic hosted by the SOL Collective. What a talented group of people! Staff at Lacuna are so warm and friendly, great tea options. The violinist De_Ray_Luna was unbelievable! Lolly, AzPoet hat a great message. Loved the host GJ, what a sweetheart! Happy birthday GJ!

Isiah, Austin and Alicia excellent work. Healthy, high quality ingredients. Enjoy on a hot day

First time trying kava and I absolutely loved my experience here. Staff is so welcoming and the vibes were just there!! Sergio is so kind and made our experience 10x better. Will definitely be coming back here.

This spot is my happy place. I love this kava bar and the kavatenders that work there. Kenzie and Jamie rock!!! They always know how to make my day. The kavatenders are also great at explaining what kava and kratom is and what they offer. Overall - delicious kava and kratom mock-tails, great vibes, fun events, and excellent service 100%. I always look forward to either work, chill, listen to live music, or even dance at Lacuna. It's also a cute spot for a date night. I highly recommend to stop by if you're ever in the area!

Kind staff, great vibe. Ive been more than once and every time ive enjoyed my experience

IF you're unfamiliar with the Kava/ Kratom experience, I highly recommend you take yourself on a Lacuna Kava date right now... today/ tonight/ tomorrow... just get there. Here's why: * IF you tend to worry about being uncomfortably "new" to such things - I guarantee there's no need for it here. The entire Lacuna tribe ALWAYS makes you feel right at home - like you've been a regular there for years. * ON MY first visit... any hesitation I might've had slid off me as soon as I walked through the door. 1. They were highly educational without annoying pretension. 2. They welcomed me with the most STELLAR vibes that I had/ always have a phenomenal time. 3. I felt so "embraced" as a member of their community/ tribe, I've gone back at least 3 times a week SINCE. (Put this on your, "TO-DO FOR MYSELF" list right now - you will thank me later) read more

Honestly I didn't know what I walked into until I took a step back and told myself to stop being ignorant. I was looking for a new spot to do homework and clear my mind from all of this COVID crap and politics. I walked into Lacuna's Kava Bar not knowing anything about it! The staff was so great and helpful. After a few moments I felt the vibe and was able to knock out my school work. Highly recommend and come back frequently given the fact that I live so close! read more

I don't know why this place even exists. I went there a handful of times and the experience just kept getting worse and worse... from the service to the actual drinks themselves. The worst part about this place was how ridiculously overpriced the drinks are for what you're getting. When I went there initially, the drink I always ordered was 8 and increased to a staggering 13. The only "warning" expressed to customers was there there was going to be a menu change, but the price was not mentioned whatsoever. Save yourself some trouble and drink some camomile tea in the bath instead of giving your money to the unfriendly staff and the business itself. read more

Will and Phoenix were our "kavatenders" and I must say I'm truly impressed. I'm very new to the whole kava experience but these guys know their stuff. We had the Tsunami drinks per Will's recommendation - absolute winner. Actually tastes good unlike a kava extract I had the other day (first experience and what lead me here). Finished up with two kava shots each and we're feeling totally relaxed and fantastic. Come visit, you won't be disappointed! read more

What a fun place!! I totally recommend coming here if you are in the area. They have events every night- also, I was shocked to learn that Kava really works. I had the Kavacolada drink- I think all of the drinks have an herbal taste to them, but this one was nicely concealed by coconut and pineapple flavor. I felt relaxed and happy the rest of the night- totally recommend! I'll try it again read more

Updating my review, I left one over a year ago when i first started coming and praised the quality and service i've received. If i could give more than 5 stars I would. The drinks here set the standard for any other Kava bar i could go to. I also have been employed here for the past 3 months and have to say that the management & owners treat us with the upmost respect, and create such a fun and enjoyable work environment. Although i am now employed here I still consider myself a regular customer since i spend most of my days off sitting at the bar talking to the other regulars. Lacuna isn't just a Kava bar, it's a community of diverse individuals and a wonderful spot for meeting new friends and venturing into new experiences. If you happen to be in Phoenix, or are just visiting, definitely stop by and give Lacuna a try! read more

I don't know if it was just me, but the incense or whatever they were burning gave me a terrible migraine. (I came in this Saturday.) Maybe not burn so many at once? I'm not usually sensitive to scents either. I had to leave and ask my friend if we could meet up someplace else. It's too bad because I was looking forward to trying kava and the place had a cute and chill ambience. If I go back, I'll definitely call ahead first and find out what the situation is with the smells first. It really was overwhelming. read more

It's a nice place during the week and I have come a few times when it's calm and I can get work done, but if I come later it's more night-life-y. The one issue I have is often on weekends, as early as noon, they have music blasting so loud that the two people in the building can't even have a conversation. I feel bad for the people living above the bar as I'd never want to deal with that. I think the only change needed would just be either limit the volume of the music until nighttime, or don't start it until 4 or 5pm. I'm not saying this on my own as someone who just randomly walked in, but rather I come 2-3 times a week during weekdays. It's just too much when I feel the bass through my entire body. read more

i used to really love coming here. the past few times tho, the same manager has been LOUDLY complaining about the company, completely ruining any chance of a good vibe. i get if work sucks and venting is necessary, but not in front of the customers, period. the last time i went, somebody told her in passing that she needed to be more positive. for the next 10 minutes she LOUDLY and brutally talked crap about him to literally everyone. i was happy when she left because she took the bad vibes with her, but the good vibes didn't return. i probably won't chill there anymore, the cool vibes were all i ever went for and she ruins it every time. read more

The reservation fee is $25 per person. Keep in mind that this is not simply a reservation deposit like most places. You are actually paying $25 and in exchange you get a boarding pass, a welcome cocktail, a set of wings (this is a really nice quality pin, not the cheesy plastic wings they give the kids on Southwest), spicy nuts, and a sweet treat. When you arrive, you pick up your "boarding pass" at Wren and Wolf around the corner. This flight was going to Tokyo. There is a red-rope line that you wait in until your "flight" boards. At your reservation time, the "Captain" opens the door and a "flight attendant" takes you to your seat. Actually, they call them stewardesses because it's supposed to be 70's themed. The inside is kind of amazing. It's airline themed without being too literal. We have visited another airline themed cocktail lounge in Palm springs which literally had real airline seats. This is not that. It has a lot of beautiful shiny wood and great lighting and it's just generally a gorgeous space. There is a bar at the back. Throughout your 90-minute experience, there is a captain on the overhead letting you know what will happen next. They start by bringing you a welcome cocktail and a bowl of spicy nuts. Love the nuts, did not like the cocktail at all. I just poured mine into my husband's glass and he finished it. They come around next to take your cocktail order. My husband ordered a melon sour, and I ordered a chocolate martini. I'm sad to say I did not like this cocktail either, although I did finish this one. Hubby thought his was fine. After that round of cocktails the flight attendant and Captain come around with the cart to take Martini orders. It looked like less than half of the people ordered a martini. We were there on a Sunday afternoon, and so the two cocktails we already had were plenty and we did not order martinis. Then the flight attendant comes around with a plate of black and white cookies. They were so good - - they tasted homemade. This was really just fun. While I didn't love the cocktails, I did love the cookies and the spicy nuts and the whole experience and I really recommend it.

This is very cool joint with a dark feel too it. They have a basement bar which we ventured into and they also have an upstairs bar as well, so you can fit a lot of drunk People in there. It also features a lot of great art that fits really highlights the Mexican bar vibe. The waitress/bar tender/ agave expert was very welcoming and know a lot about their tequilas and mescal option. I love me some smokey mescal, I dont remember thet name of the drink but it had some kind of elote triple sec or something like that along with Mescal and it was quite tasty. Trust me I was in no state to remember ingredients but this is from my foggy memory. I also got a pick of the cool ice blocks that has an Agave inlay that they put in the tumbler with your drink. I will definitely be going back for their wide Mescal and tequila options. I didn't see food in the bar, but they have a food truck out front that smelled amazing, but sometimes I simply dont want to eat when there are plenty of drinks to be had. They do have Esquites, Tacos, Quesadillas, Mini Chimis, and loaded fries. I will have to do another review on the food when I am not out being a borracho. They do take reservations and host private parties which would make for one raucous Christmas party if you don't work at a Christ loving conservative company like me. But, if you're looking for a really cool bar, KWSC is for you. I stopped by on a week day evening around 8:30 p.m. Located in Roosevelt Row, while there isn't parking, I found free parking on the street a few minutes away on foot. Ambiance (4.5/5): My type of spot. Dimly lit with a speakeasy vibe. There are eight or so seats at the bar, and the rest of your seating options consist of comfortable chairs and sofas. You'll see a lot of photos of people's bums on the walls lol. This is indeed part of the appeal. For free, if you would like, they will take a polaroid of your butt and memorialize you eternally on the walls. While I didn't do that, if that's up your alley, go for it. Service (2/5): This is the main area of improvement. After being seated, I was greeted promptly and got my first cocktail promptly. From there, things fell apart. I had to grab the bartender's attention to order my second drink and to close out. It was a week day and they weren't busy. And there were two bartenders. A lack of attentiveness. When I closed out, I noticed that the cocktails were both $2 more expensive than what was listed on the menu. When I inquired, I was told that the menus were outdated... umm what? If you're not going to re-print your menus, give people a heads-up when they arrive. I understand that most people won't notice, but this is deception. Food (N/A): I was on a liquid diet. If you're trying to eat here, all they have is snacks. The menu doesn't specify but I'm thinking it's probably chips or somethign like that. Drinks (4/5): A lengthy, and interesting, cocktail list. Similar to a speakeasy, you're going to see creativity and an interesting blend of flavors here. The most popular drink is Fuck Nazis. We're seeing a theme here. KWSC is an interesting spot. For various dollar amounts, you can get funny things outside of the polaroids of your bum. My first cocktail was great. My second one, a tiki drink, not so much. The menu said that there would be some flame action happening. It didn't. Just another example of the service falling short. If the service were better, Killer Whale Sex Club would easily be a five-star experience.

Had a really great experience today at Lacuna Kava Bar in Phoenix. Such a friendly, warm and inviting staff that did a great job describing Kava, Kratom and all the fabulous healthy libations they serve. Lacuna is very different from most Kava Bars and among the most creative I've seen in terms of the sheer variety and quality of their drinks. They even have a non alcoholic CBD Wine that tastes just like the real thing and delivers a very similar effect. Such a great idea to be able to sit down and enjoy a bottle in an atmosphere void of the people you find in the typical alcohol bar! Store manager Krissy was an absolute gem! She's a real professional with a great personality and she knows her product inside and out! We also met Chase the owner who was also great! He took the time to welcome us and talked to us for quite some time. You usually don't get that from an owner. Anyway, I highly recommend Lacuna Kava Bar and will definitely stop by again the next time I'm in the Phoenix area. read more

As a regular Kratom consumer from Florida, I heard so many great things about it on my week trip, I had to check it out. Upon entry, I felt a vibe of positivity with the music. The kavatenders, Morgan and Marina, are super friendly and helped me figure out what type of drink I was feeling. I went with their State 48 Kratom Infusion drink and it was marvelous. The finish was similar to the Kratom cocktails I get at the kava bar I go to in Florida. Morgan even set me up with a Bula Bomb Kava shot and while I'm not always the biggest fan of Kava, I actually enjoyed it. Would I come back again to visit for another trip away from Florida? Absolutely. This Bula is for all the awesome kavatenders for their remarkable hospitality. read more

I was passing back, had a long day, a little bummed, and needed to relax. I didn't know what the place was but decided to check it out. Best decision on any day! I'm not even going to try to describe the tea, but it's great. I walked in and the vibe was relaxing, welcoming, random strangers were talking to each other, which is great in this day and age. The tea itself, well, I love the fact that it's all natural. It's an awesome alternative to all the chemicals in typical drinks. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and they go out of their way to describe the product and ask customers they likes. I highly recommend. read more

TERRIBLE PLACE OF BUSINESS. This Kava bar left me with a bad taste in my mouth physically & mentally. Inconsistent pricing, slow service, and uncomfortable atmosphere tainted the experience. The high prices for drinks (price gouging customers to pay a ridiculous $30 for two drinks), coupled with the lethargic cash-out process, left me questioning the value of my time and money., The dismissive attitude of the staff, who showed no regard for customer feedback, further dampened the mood. Without skipping a beat she pulled out the cinnamon and loaded it up all while disappointedly explaining to me that the syrup they use is actually the lesser of two spiced chai syrups offered by the manufacturer and that she was sad to see the other had gone a while ago (RIP even spicier chai latte). C'est la vie; I guess, this was still one tasty chai though. Now we're chatting about the tea and vanilla creamer I use at home, but be sure you use both a packet of Stash double chai as well as one Stash red dragon - it's the mix of both that really seal the deal for an at home chai and then use some of the vanilla oat milk creamer to get that at home chai latte-esq experience. We went our separate ways after giving up our own insights into the world of chai and her handing me the drink I was there for, but I still think about that chai latte from time to time. I spent the next hour or so prattling on with friends, commenting on about how the table fit all of us comfortably and the nice interior space of monorchid was big enough to fit us all without pushing out anyone else. The server walked up and asked if we could wait outside, she needed to "reset" the space. Another group walked up after us and I let them know we were in a que of sorts, and apparently 2 other people standing outside off to the side we ahead of us. So, that was just a strange way to start off. We didn't wait long, around 10-15 minutes. Once inside, the service was okay, it felt a bit rushed and slow at times. Like it took a bit for the server to come back and take our order and then the drinks came out so fast, I wondered if the drinks were all pre-batched. Which is not necessarily bad if they were, my drink just didn't seem interestingly presented or having any craft cocktail flair. And all in all, I liked the dark, vibey interior with good music playing, and I thought the cocktail menu sounded inventive but at the end of the day I thought my drink was fairly basic tasting and I didn't get any of the flavors noted in the description. The other 2 drinks at our table were better. I didn't get any chai, banana, or almond butter tastes, just a solid old fashioned. I had hoped some chai or banana would be notable. They make their own almond milk in house and I highly recommend ANY or their smoothies. Their Sammy is my wife's favorite and I'm happy to pick up from Trans Am a few days a week because the atmosphere is funky and you never know what new friend you may make or old friend you may run in to there. Right as you walk in, it's so clean and the space is very chill unlike most cafes that glare music, the music they had was subtle and perfect for remote work. They serve different types of coffee and tea and some baked goods. The space to work was large and didn't have to speed walk to save a spot. The bookstore was well stocked with good books so during a work break, I got some stickers, a new book and a fun little trinket for my purse! Definitely recommend this spot for a nice place to work remotely, sip drinks and eat baked goods. Oh and they also serve mimosas! I didn't order one this time but I will next time!
