She said the employee that was helping me was in fact a phlebotomy student and asked if I consented to the student doing the draw. I said yes but asked for them to put on masks for this. Apparently this was an absolutely alien request to the owner of a business that also does in-home blood draws. I got a stuttering "we don't have any... we don't keep them..." and then she dared to ask "what is it you're afraid of?" I shouldn't have to identify the risk conditions of myself or my household, but I did, at which point she started asking invasive questions about my blood cancer and assuring me she "understood" because of her sister's cancer -- which she then discussed in detail, tumor locations and all. If you understood, you would have masked from the outset. She even gave me the "stay strong" platitudes even after I explained that mine is chronic, not anything to be "beat," but she was insistent about making the conversation about cancer in general and not her failure to protect me from airborne disease. They did eventually find masks in a supply room and wore them for the draw. I got out of there as fast as possible afterwards. Very unsettling experience overall.

A lot of the people in the waiting room noticed how rude the interaction felt, and several people even commented to me about it afterward. I honestly tried to give grace because she may have been stressed or overwhelmed, and I know healthcare can be difficult. But the reason I'm writing this review is because of Dana, the blonde phlebotomist in the back. She was absolutely wonderful. I hadn't had much water that morning because of an earlier appointment, so finding a vein was a little difficult, but Dana stayed patient, calm, kind, and professional the entire time. She talked with me, joked around a little to help me relax, asked how my day was going, and truly made the whole experience better. Dana has such a beautiful soul and gave me one of the best experiences I've ever had getting blood drawn. Employees like her deserve recognition because they genuinely make a difference in people's days. So while the front experience may not have been ideal, Dana completely turned it around for me. Despite being early, I didn't get called back until about 1pm, 20 minutes past my schedule time. Different locations I've been to never had that long of a wait past my scheduled time. The room I went into was room 8, and that room was spacious, luckily, so my daughter was able to be in the room with me. Other locations or rooms could be quite small that there isn't much room for a third person.

Since I had already scheduled a doctor's appointment, it was a win-win, so I had two appointments in one morning. I saw my name on the tv so I knew it was soon. It was 7:30, my appointment. I had to figure out who called me, and from which room she was in. When I sat down, she immediately told me to hold my arm out, (stiff) and don't move. I was used to being verified first, but I guess they don't do that anymore. I tried to tell Elizabeth that my other arm was better because the vein was more visible, but she cut me off, and said, "Don't move." As I sat there, I could feel the needle moving around in my arm. I asked her what happened. She said, "You moved. I told you to stay still." She spoke to me in a tone that sounded like she was scolding a child. When I told her that she was hurting my arm with the needle, she pulled it out, and walked out of the room. I could hear her asking for help. When Shakira said she would do it. Shakira came in, verified me, then took my blood. She was polite, hospitable, and quick. That is how it should have been done from the beginning. I don't know why Elizabeth was the way she was with me, but it was unacceptable. I will make sure that if I ever come back to this location, she is not my phlebotomist.

I found a pretty good selection of times even only booking one day ahead. You get a link via text message and can easily check in online once you arrive. There are also kiosks in the waiting area where you can check yourself in. Bear in mind there are no staff to check in with. Once checked in, you sit in the waiting room and follow your progress on a large screen showing checked in appointments and anyone waiting as a walk in. I was taken right at my booked time. Once in one of the back rooms the staff process your insurance and confirm which tests you need. The staff member was very friendly, and the blood draw was basically painless. Overall I was very happy with my Quest experience!
