Used to go to Alameda Hospital for lab work. I guess the insurance I have changed their preferred lab. Still within walking distance, as I live across the street from the hospital, and not usually as busy. I've never waited more than15 minutes to be called in to have blood drawn. That was with a room full of people waiting. They have 8 chairs and a bench for about 3 or 4 people to sit. I've been here with every seat taken. The lab tech that is always here when I've come in , Ji Lee, is very friendly and pretty quick to register people in and very good at being quick to draw the amount of tubes needed. read more

Gone to this LabCorp a couple times now. Barely any wait (at least compared to some labs I have been to in Oakland and SF). One stick and done. Not rude -- not what I would call "friendly" but "friendly enough". Space is clean. Why not 5 stars? Very limited parking and Alameda doesn't have the best public transit -- especially if you are coming in from off the island. read more

HORRIBLE!!!!! Their phlebotomists (people who draw your blood) suck at their job apparently. I watched two phlebotomists fail at blood draws on two different patients. One of them (the korean lady) even tried to blame that patient by saying the patient was nervous about blood draws so that caused her to not be able to draw blood. From my angle, she stuck the needle in the man and then was digging around in his arm hoping to find a vein. The other phlebotomist was no better based on overhearing the other patient saying "You need to try my other arm now?" read more

Labcorp Alameda closes when it rains due to location which floods easily. I went on Fri it was closed and thy did not post a warning that if it rains they will close so I went on Mon and it was closed. I am over 80, take the bus, saving my need to urinate because I need to provide a urine sample. I think this company is not a reliable healthcare provider. I have to cancel mr Dr appt because we won't have lab results. CA state people are you listening? read more

It's a shame there isn't a negative star rating. Some HEARTLESS, lazy, incompetent, and callous woman, slammed the door and refused to perform necessary, doctor's ordered laboratory blood work, for my 98 year old mother, who was accompanied by a hired escort. Why? Mom and escort were delayed at the doctor's office, and came to the door of LabCorps in Alameda at EXACTLY 3:30PM. The female worker simply REFUSED to open the door, stating, "We're closed. I can't help you." What time do they close? 3:30PM. Had I been there, I'd likely be in jail. It is LIFE CRITICAL bloodwork, for a 98 year old, former WWII Rosie The Riveter on the Midway. Nice treatment for the last few survivors of THE GREATEST GENERATION, who are THE reason America wasn't enslaved by the evils of the Axis Powers. This is SUPPOSED to be a facility involved in critical medical procedures-not a shoe store. They have a phone that NEVER has a live person answer-at ANY TIME DURING BUSINESS HOURS, but invites you to "visit their website". The outgoing message states how they pride themselves on "Customer Care". I'd eat barbwire before I EVER trusted this disgrace of a sham, posing as a medical service again. read more

I wish to complain about the phlebotomist that the drew my blood on Friday, 11/12, at 9:00 a.m. After she drew my blood, she told me to put the cotton over the area. I absentmindedly got up to leave as it looked like the bleeding stopped. She then said gave me the dirtiest, meanest look ever and said "Did I tell you that you could leave?" Then she proceeded to reprimand and lecture me very aggressively and read me the posted rules word by word as if I were a child. I felt humiliated and sincerely apologized several times. She could've nicely told me to stay put so she could put a bandage on me but she reacted as if I had committed a crime! She was so rude and condescending and finally calmed down after about six apologies. I'm sure the people in the waiting area heard her ranting and raving also. This was no way to treat a patient. I am so disappointed because in 2019 I wrote a glowing review on a very kind and friendly phlebotomist that drew my blood. read more

This is the worse in the Bay Area unless you're a MAGA supporter and the staff doesn't mind letting you know it. Anyone of color has experienced the hostility compared to White or Asian people. Very uninformed about policy and very very very rude. I started going to LabCorp in Alameda about 8 years ago but about 3 or 4 years ago it started going downhill. I stopped going there earlier this year after an incident but need labs right away a couple days ago and I live to regret it. The tech and I argued whether that my doctor couldn't send 6 month standing orders , which he'd done for 8 years and then she jabbed me so hard with the needle that I have to see another doctor about nerve or muscle damage because my arm still hurts days afterwards. Save yourself some frustration and go elsewhere. read more

This is place I thought was every friendly and efficient. I got seen exactly at my appointment time. As long as you have an appointment here, you will not be waiting. They do ask for appointment confirmation, or if you have a smart phone you could show them the email confirmation and they're ok with that. The only thing to me is that this place was hard for me to find. They actually have a parking lot. So just pull in the parking lot where the bank is at, and walk towards the back and it will be on your right side. read more

What the what, LabCorp. What the what. Pro - They are open on weekends. Cons - They will stab you repeatedly trying to find your vein. They will also miss your appointment time. They are not efficient, I waited 20+ mins past my appointment time. They were not gentle, I had marks on my arms that resembled a heroin addict's. One of the ladies there told me she was too busy to help me when all I had to do was pick up a specimen kit. Quest handed me a specimen kit in literally 30 seconds. You are SO busy, you don't have 30 seconds to spare but would prefer for me to wait 30 minutes so that you can hand me something that would've taken 30 seconds. Parking also sucks here. It's pay outside on Saturdays and I think they only have 2 spots in the lot. Don't forget, if you're using Park St. to get into Alameda, that particular street occasionally have festivals and parades (meaning the whole street is shut down). I really hate going to LabCorp but they're in a relatively convenient area and open on weekends. But if I have time and can make it anywhere else, I will gladly opt not to go there. read more

I couldn't have had a quicker better experience. The people were all helpful, fast, and enjoyable to talk to. The parking isn't great but that's not their fault. Even updating my insurance was amazingly fast and automated on the check in computer that just scans my card and uploads all of the info. read more

This LabCorp location is always fast and efficient, if not just a little vampiric. Parking located right next to the entrance makes it easy to reach. Traffic in Alameda seems to be best around 1-3pm. read more

The staff here is so nice. I think it's the best Labcorps in the area. Yes there will be a long wait when it's busy but they move you through very quickly. There's no attitude or insane wait times like Quest and the other Labcorps locations. read more

I was nervous about coming here because of the reviews but overall I had a great experience, given the circumstances. The parking lot is small and I am not sure how many spaces are dedicated to Labcorp but I found one immediately by the door. I checked in online and was allowed to wait in the car due to COVID. It turns out the lab order from my doctor was not in the system (not ideal) so I had to call to have it faxed over, but as soon as it came through, I was in a chair having my blood drawn. I hate blood draws but this one was painless. I was also impressed with how well the receptionist/phlebotomist (short staffed that day) multitasked- she seamlessly moved between patient questions. At most, I saw 3 people in the waiting room, which is very small, but people were in and out pretty quickly. One older woman was not wearing a mask at one point and no said anything which was not ideal, but like everyone, she wasn't there very long and you can step outside if you ever feel uncomfortable. ps it might be obvious since there are sometimes urine samples, but there is a bathroom available to use. read more

Awesome staff who helps lab going gentle and less scary. I found they ask questions to make sure you are comfortable, then let you know exactly how they will perform any procedure to collect from you. I was happy to be in and out with in 10 minutes. Walk in or appointments are all accepted, it just depends on when you come in and sign in at the desk. Can't give a negative review on their parking situation... just find street parking and walk is my suggestion. read more

Go on-line and make an appointment! Don't just show up like I did. I know better. But for reasons I can't explain right now, I had to go in without an appointment on a weekday at 9:15a. First, I had to use a bunch of coins to drop in a parking meter on the street nearby to park my car. Next, I had to find Lab Corp. It's located hidden in the back of this small office complex on the right side of their parking lot. I then walked in to a standing room only crowd of people waiting for blood tests! The woman at the front desk told me that it was a half hour wait. There are two whole spaces in the back of the parking lot reserved for Lab Corp patients. Good luck getting those. After a half hour, I had to run back outside and put more coins in the meter. I finally got called up to the desk to give the unsympathetic receptionist my paperwork. Another half hour went by before I got called in for my test. The test was quick and professional and I finally got out of there after an hour. Jeez. I hope next time I will get an appointment and go and get out of there before the meters start at 9a. I certainly hope to give Lab Corp a much better Yelp review next time. read more

People getting upset at having to wait is funny. Wouldn't you care more about the quality of the service? I've been here several times and the phlebotomist is very Efficient at blood draws. Granted my veins are pretty good but I've still had others mess it up. For reference I start Ivs for a living so I know good versus bad. I think the quality of service here is good. Having to a wait a little is a part of life. And I also expect they need a lunch also. People getting upset because their not supposed to take lunch. Also funny. read more

Their lack of CoVID protocols is ridiculous. I checked in with my phone so that I could wait in my car. They texted me to come in and then told me to wait in the waiting room with three other people. The whole point of waiting in your car is to avoid the waiting room, now they want me to sit in the waiting room. I went outside and waited. The next day I had to go back and it was even more crowded with no concern for distancing since it's a small waiting room. Six months ago I went there and they wouldn't let more than one person in the waiting room. Now, when there's a spike in cases and everyone is adopting stricter rules, they've loosened theirs. I'll find a different lab in the future. Other medical facilities have much better protocols. read more

Extremely long wait. When I came in there was only one person waiting. I still waited over 45 minutes and the waiting room was full of people by that time. One receptionist and one lab technician. Funny you self check in at a kiosk but it's still slow. I will not return to this location. Better time management, additional staff or more efficient workers are needed. Efficient blood draw ninjas. I got my blood drawn in less than 15 minutes with no appointment (go after 9:30 am) Techs here can get my small, finnicky veins quickly and fairly painlessly. Results for standard blood labs are fast -- only 1 day later, I was able to review them online through the Alameda Family Physicians patient portal. Nobody loves getting poked with needles, but they manage to make it a less crappy experience. read more

A very mixed bag with this place, and hence, my review of same. Pros: Today's blood draw by a young African-American woman wearing glasses (I hate to sound so clinical, but I don't know her name) was as smooth as silk and painless. We were talking and joking and before I knew it, the needle was already in. Five stars for her - she is absolutely awesome with her phlebotomy and people skills! I like the option to make an appointment, although feasible times for me are usually 2 weeks out. Cons: Invariably unfriendly receptionist whenever I've gone there. They always seem frazzled and spread too thinly due to the need to handle multiple tasks. It is apparent to me that LabCorp is about the bottom line and not its customers. Also, I often have trouble understanding the receptionist. This may offend some readers, but the fact is I have to have requests or statements repeated two or three times before i can figure out what she is saying. It's frustrating and awkward, and ultimately embarrassing to both of us. I try not to draw undue attention to this challenge, but I damn well want to know precisely what is being said because of the nature of the visit. Two stars. read more

They take Cigna insurance and accept post vasectomy specimen collection. (Note: Quest Diagnostics does not - as of March 1st 2015). I have had blood samples taken here and requested the smallest needle possible (cause I'm a giant baby...) they obliged so that was nice. Collection lab environments are not my favorite places, basically I want to be quick, painless, accurate and efficient, this has been my experience here. Parking in this part of town can be very difficult, if possible, weekday mornings are your best bet. read more

At another LabCorps (that shall not be named), I was poked and prodded in both arms, eventually cried from the pain, and was told that it was my fault. None of that madness here. No matter how often I tried calling, I've been met with a terrible musak loop for over 15 minutes before I giving up. And I can not find a way to email them. read more

This is a lab that seemed like the folks who work there know the patients. Efficient, warm. Tamaria (sorry if i spelled that incorrectly ) is more than super friendly, she is a total ace. Ive hard veins and she got me with a large straight needle and multiple tube changes in one stick and no fishing or bruising. Brilliant. read more

What a bad experience I had there. I had a medical problem, have been to a lot of doctors. The last doctor wanted me to have the blood drawn when I have the symptom. he wrote a letter for the lab asking them to get my blood when I have the symptom so he might have the best chance to diagnose my problem. When I did have the symptom, I went there and gave the technician the doctor note. She did not honor that and made me wait for my turn. Unfortunately, it was so long of wait, the symptom was gone. I left and very sad. I have been there before for a different blood test, there was only one person to work in the morning. I wish that they had someone who does the paperwork in front and the other does the blood in the back so people don't have such a long wait. read more

Great appointment here this morning. So smooth and easy. Walked in, they found my paperwork, and I was called back. Yes, it's drawing blood, and yes I don't like needles, and yes, I don't look down when she's drawing my blood out. But the phlebotomist Ji Lee was great, firm pressure, steady hand, and a nice full wrap-around bandage to hold the gauze in place as I left. read more

Once you actually get an appointment at this location, the employees are competent and friendly. However getting an appointment is next to impossible. Someone is playing games. I have repeatedly tried to schedule an early morning appointment (9;00 or before) only to find that there are no appointments available for the next week or more. (They say that they open at 7:00 am.) So I go in without an appointment and find that there is no one there who claims to have an appointment!This happens regularily to me and my husband. Today I tried to schedule an appointment for next week only to find that they are completely booked until late in the day at the end of the week. This doesn't work for working people who need to fast overnight prior to their blood draws. There are a lot of phony appointments on there website calendar. read more

Needed to get blood typing for work. Unfortunately had to see my PCP just to get a referral to come here. Walked across the street after I got my ref, sat down for 5 minutes, 5 minutes after that I was out the door. The young lady who stuck me was super fast, didn't feel a thing. I am here every week lately for blood draws recently and the last 3 weeks have taken me 30-45 minutes to be seen....with an appointment. There is no priority given if you make an appointment. It will still be first come first seen, so don't bother. The phlebotomist safe usually great and pretty nice though. read more

A very simple and efficient way to take care of a complicated and scary matter. I made my appointment online for later in the morning but since I was up, I headed over to see if there was an opening. After all, I was dying for more coffee and a bagel! I was the second one in, peed in a cup, parted with six vials of precious blood and wiggled my van out of the parking lot. I highly recommend these folks and will go again if I ab-so-lute-ly have to. I would suggest making an appointment then allowing a little time to walk a few steps to either Starbuck's or Pete's for a fix. read more

I made an appointment for Saturday May 15th @10:45Am. I arrived at 10:38. It took more than 45 minutes just to acknowledge my presence. They had people without appointments ahead of me and went before me. I don't know what is the purpose of scheduling an appointment if you will not be seen on time . Lab Corp should say: "first come first serve". I guess they have lots of customer and don't care about my business. I will go somewhere else from now on.
