This place is in a small plaza (there is parking, but it is limited), and when I first pulled in, I couldn't even see it because the entrance door is tucked into a dark corner, but I promise it's worth finding!!! There's lots of space inside and ample seating. The staff is very friendly and welcomed me immediately. I got a hot matcha, and they asked me the level of sweetness I wanted, which most places don't do. They have some coffee items for sale that would make great gifts, they have fresh baked goods, and it appears that they have a barista school as well. Tried LAB a few Sundays ago, and it was a very pleasant experience. Small family owned shop that also serves as a barista training school. Nice and clean location inside a strip mall in KTown. I didn't struggle with parking but it was as Sunday morning so maybe it would be harder later in the day as the area gets jammed packed. The coffee was really good. It didn't wow me but was very enjoyable. Oh and my niece destroyed their chocolate chip cookie. The orange drink and the vanilla latte were for my friends and they also enjoyed them. Mine was the Americano, well balanced espresso, glad it wasn't a basic or darker roasted coffee which many other places in the area serve. I have been on a mission for the past year or so to try every indy coffee or pastry shop in LA County. So, when I spotted this one, tucked away in virtual obscurity in what I would say is Melrose Hill adjacent at Rosewood, I had to stop in. A really nice experience, all around. We were greeted in a very friendly way the minute we walked in. Yiun took our order promptly, which was caramel mocha coffees (hot) and cheddar chive scones. We also got two chocolate scones to take out. Next time we are going to try the scrumptious looking peanut butter cookies. Service was perfect and the order was filled so quickly, we barely were late for the next appointment. Parking is in the lot. See the pictures, they tell the rest of the story. It is also the only shop in Los Angeles to serve coffee that's won the Cup of Excellence (top 1% speciality coffee). LaB Coffee also operates LA Coffee College next door with The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) Coffee Skills Program (CSP) & Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) diploma course available. [Amenities]: No public restroom, but the coffee shop got plenty of empty tables as the shop was not super crowded on Saturday afternoon. I actually think this is a solid spot to study or work for anyone who's looking for a more quiet environment. [Menu]: This is one of few speciality coffee shops in Koreatown that does NOT offer einspanner on the menu, so personally it is quite refreshing and the shop just goes back to the basic. I'm annoyed that I wasted both my time and money here. I dropped my dog off at the groomer next door and needed a place to get some work done, so I thought this would be a good spot to grab coffee. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start. The iced Americano was extremely watery and weak. I had to pay an extra dollar for an additional espresso shot just to make it taste somewhat like coffee. On top of that, the Wi-Fi connection was very unreliable. I first mentioned it to a female employee, but there was never any follow-up. I later asked another employee, who at least attempted to troubleshoot the issue and eventually confirmed that the Wi-Fi wasn't working. What really bothered me was that it seemed the staff already knew the Wi-Fi was having issues. The manager was loudly discussing it the entire time I was there, along with various personal topics, and made comments about how it was "great" that the Wi-Fi was down because more people would pay with cash. That attitude came across as dismissive and inconsiderate toward customers who specifically come in needing internet access to work. The male employee was friendly and followed up, which is the main reason I'm giving two stars instead of one. Still, based on this experience, I probably won't return. If you need a reliable place to work with dependable Wi-Fi, I'd recommend choosing another coffee shop. Also, the female manager/owner needs to learn inside voice. read more

LaB C & R is a local family-owned coffee bar in LA. They're located in a small plaza on Western Avenue. They have modest selection of coffee and tea drink on their menu. Moreover, they have some pastries albeit limited. Ambiance was relaxing with very spacious layout. I arrived early weekend morning to grab a Flat White. It was really good, a high quality coffee. Service was on point. Price was expensive for a small cup of coffee. Parking in the plaza is limited but plenty of street parking. Overall, I enjoyed my small coffee. I absolutely love the espresso beans from this place! They roast in-house and the quality is fantastic every time I stop by. I live less than a mile away and this has become my go-to spot for fresh beans. The staff are always super friendly and happy to answer any questions about their coffee, which I really appreciate. The orange bianco here is really good! Really happy to have a coffee shop near me that makes orange coffee well. The coffee is very rich in flavor and worth a slightly higher price since their beans are roasted in house. My drink had orange pieces in it which was very pleasant. There is space to study and get work done as well as outlets. I was able to snag a parking spot in the small lot in front for free but there's also metered street parking. read more

They do not offer mug service, but their recent photos show that they still do. When this place first opened, their coffee was good. They even run their own coffee school. But after COVID, it became the coffee shop I least want to visit. Instead of the friendly staff they used to have, they seem to hire less kind ones now, and the coffee is too sour. All the friends I went with didn't finish their drinks and threw them away. Got an iced vanilla oat latte , it was so good. Smooth, not too sweet, super creamy with the oat milk. Parking was actually easy (shocking for LA) and the vibe inside is super chill. Went for a post-Church coffee and came across LaB Coffee Roasters in K-town. The ambiance is very nice with some tables for a social time or doing work surrounded by many large bags of coffee beans. However, being that it is K-town, parking is TOUGH with a small lot. Service was good, as they greeted us warmly and were open to any available questions. This is a coffee roaster class as well as a coffee shop, and lets just say they got their cappuccino down to a science (hence, their namesake) and got a perfectly balanced capp! We also needed some food and got a vegan peanut butter cookie which was tasty, especially since it was vegan! I asked the Asian lady at the counter if she would be able to grind the fresh beans, like last time, and she said back hesitantly- ok but you can't return the coffee if we grind it! Like what?? I also ordered additional drinks, scone and a breakfast sandwich which was $6.50- it was literally a frozen jimmy dean sandwich she removed from the plastic! The baristas at Labcoffee are very knowledgeable about coffee. Every time I visit, they recommend the COE pour-over coffee of the day and provide great explanations about it. I love that the coffee is full of acidity, has a clean taste, and finishes smoothly without any lingering aftertaste. The Trinity Blend they used for their espresso drinks (we ordered a Latte and a Cortado) were so chocolatey and creamy. I almost thought they gave me a mocha except it wasn't so sweet. The Matcha Scone was fantastic. The white chocolate chips was so extra. We ended up getting another one. Hot Cocoa was also very good. They have a small parking lot (for the plaza), the place was clean and bright with simple but cute wall decor, only a couple guests inside and no wait to place our order, both indoor and outdoor seating, and most of all, our drinks were delicious! My bf had the Jasmin green tea, and I had an iced mocha, which hit the spot, exactly what I needed, nice chocolatey flavor, perfect balance of sweetness. Stumbled across LaB today because we needed a place to go to why we waited for our food from a different place to be ready. The storefront is super nice and big. You really can't miss it. Due to the pandemic, they were taking orders from front of the entrance and had those clear screens. Everything was set up to be contactless which was great. The coffee shop is a little Korean owned store with super creative drinks that I've never heard of from other coffee shops. I ordered the Orange Bianco thanks to fellow Yelpers. I've been into orange flavored things lately. The owner I presume took our order and we paid while he went to the back to make our drinks. The shop had a little camera and microphone and which he proceeded to say thank you. Another customer was waiting and he spoke in the little mic that he'd be right with him which I thought was super cute and convenient. The Orange Bianco was absolutely delicious. It was a bit on the sweeter side but I loved it. My coffee never tastes bitter since there were real orange mandarin slices/jam mixed in. I've never had coffee that tasted like that. Enjoyed the service but the drinks seem overpriced. i get that coffee shops are competitive in LA but it seems like prices are what people are competing for these days, not the quality of the drinks. I tried to enjoy my Orange Biano drink, but it was hard to get the orange bits through the straw. The oranges got stuck mid way and coffee would slip from the top of the straw, and made it messy to drink. I think they could have added some lightly sweetened cream to blend the orange + espresso flavors a little more, but that's just my opinion. It is their signature drink after all. read more

This is the best cafe in all of Los Angeles. Every time I go somewhere else, I'm wishing I was at LaB! Their cold brew is incredible. It's super strong and brewed Kyoto style. The atmosphere is calm. There's usually people working on their laptops, or catching up over coffee. I love reading here. Also, helpful to know that they have a parking lot. This cafe is cute and cozy, and the service is friendly enough, but I was just extreeeemely underwhelmed by the one item I ordered- the Brioche Toast. For what it cost, I guess I just expected a little something more than what it was...whether a larger portion size (like maybe one more slice of toast) or some berries on the side or powdered sugar or just something. Anyway, it was basically $8.76 for 2 slices of plain Brioche Toast about the size of my palm and some jam. The jam was tasty but the toast tasted like any other bakery toast imo.
