Cool spot for a hot or iced tea, small bites and dessert in Chinatown. I just happened to find this spot while exploring Chinatown. This spot is located in the Mandarine Plaza with the green gate. They have few shops but majority are shut down. Once you past the gate it is right in front of you. They have variety high quality authentic teas from China and Taiwan. ...And even more interesting they also alcohol/non-alcohol during the evening hours. Yes, they have a bar. Ordered: Jumi Herbal Tea - $6 - Less ice and half sugar It is non-caffeinated floral and taste similar to Chrysanthemum Tea. It really refreshing drink. It was really good. As I was leaving, I saw a lot of delicious dishes they served to the customers. Friendly staff. Ambiance is really nice, cozy and with a modern vibe. They have dining inside and outside. They sell their own merch as well. Street Parking/Parking garage nearby.

The food was truly amazing with the kind service staff. My favorite dish with the fish with rice although I forgot the name along with the Taiwanese sausage. I truly adored the snacks of furikake popcorn and the lychee martini was to die for. The ambiance of the restaurant was peaceful and relaxing.

Contemporary bar and eating place with friendly service and enjoyable teas and drinks. They sometimes showcase art for sale by independent artists. The menu changes seasonally. They take card. Bathrooms are located outside of the shop.

I've visited here before and should've posted sooner. Night life in Chinatown is underrated. Often I'm here in the daytime of the weekends for local dim sum. But there is a fantastic night life here with many restaurants and bars buzzing. Steep is one of them. They sat me and Buddy without reservations. (Something I'll have ready next time). But honestly anywhere you sit inside or out is great. We were inside at a short counter and short barstools. Comfortable. Service was friendly and chill. Ambiance was laid back, esthetically pleasing, and the had an attractive crowd. I order a salted plum lager and my bro got a Sochu medicine. Check out the Menu for all the cool ingredients. They do have small food plates that nice. This place is a bit pricey, but you should be treating yourself if you're out here. My only nit pick, they offer a free snack. Spicy popcorn with furikake flakes. Sounds good. It really wasn't. Kinda felt like we wasted it. But whatever's, order from the menu. Super easy covered parking for only $5. Detached but clean restrooms.

I was able to snag a reservation for Steep's evening/dinner concept and it did not disappoint! I got the Oolong Cream Soda and Lu Rou Fan (pork belly, marinated egg, pickled radish, steamed rice)--both were very tasty. The cream soda was not too sweet, bubbly and refreshing with a good amount of tea flavor. The pork belly dish was delicious: you can't go wrong with fatty and crispy pork on a warm bed of rice. I would love to visit again in the daytime to check out their tea flights and other light bites!

My friend and I came here to kill time for an hour and only had their cocktails. We were seated outside since inside was full. The plum high ball was pretty solid. Their tea flight was okay

This is my second time coming! The last time I was here with friends, we got the Shuoguo Negroni, Honey Lemon Tea and something else I forgot but it seems like they really got it down with their drinks! Very tasty drinks but very mid small bites. The atmosphere is great, along with friendly service. Their popcorn grows on you as you eat it. We got there later in the day where they no longer serve tea so we went for the cocktails! Got the Jasmine Vacation and Clear Lychee Martini. Along with a non alcoholic drink: Logan Chrysanthemum Tea which came in a can. Honestly loved it! Also ordered a few small bites like the marinated egg and the cold side dish which were a little disappointing. $3.5 for one egg split in half and $9 for a small plate of tofu skin and wood ear is a bit much. The egg was marinated in a rather sweet sauce and the cold dish pretty much has no flavor.

I discovered this spot in December of last year, and I swear I would go at least twice a month because it was that memorable. From December to May the only thing that I would order was the Japanese scallops with cold soba noodles. The absolute powerhouse that this dish was literally changed the trajectory of my flavor palette forever. I'm really sad that it's off the menu, but I do think that steep is transcending the game and I trust them to crank out even more delicious main dishes. I recently went back last week and I tried the yellowtail rice dish with oolong dashi broth and pickled cucumber (sweet as opposed to acidic)-- I was mesmerized. The yellowtail was succulent and rich with flavor. The broth itself was upfront and tasted like oolong tea and dashi. I would recommend eating it in spoonfuls to taste everything all together because it makes it so much more cohesive and tasty. And do not get me started on the chewy tofu it was incredible. The flavor of garlic was so positively pungent and savory. I had a slight spiciness to it, but it wasn't overbearing. It was so balanced, and the tofu was soaked in flavor. The Hokkaido oolong chocolate tea cake tasted just as the oolong ice cream very soft subtle flavor of brown sugar and oolong. I've tried their oolong tea before and it is so delicious it does not need sweetener. It tastes like brown sugar. I recently had their new guava oolong iced tea, and the initial sip tasted like straight up all along, but once I mixed it in, it tasted like a warm spring day sitting underneath a shaded tree. The restaurant itself is gorgeous and so sleek. They also have a lineup of different tea leaves that you can smell in front of the bar area. They also have a bunch of ceremonial tea cups, and pots in the back of the restaurant and it is just so cute and it's such a beautiful vibe in the middle of the day and at night time. This review has been something I've been cooking up forever because I just have enjoyed my time and my meals here back to back for nine months now. As for the service, I think that it's really sweet that when you make a reservation, they ask if you have any accommodations that you need and the first time that I had ever went with a friend we had put that we were neurodivergent and might need a table that was on the quieter side and I remember the manager kindly greeted us and made sure that we were comfortable with the noise level. Side note: I think the prices per dish are very reasonable. Steep is incredible and I truly hope that everyone is able to experience it.

We had just finished dinner at Firstborn and thought we'd come here for another cocktail. It's a cute space. We sat at the bar. The bartenders were friendly and helpful. We got the Sauvage garden and the Sochu medicine. 2 Beautifully crafted cocktails. And their complimentary popcorn is the bomb.

**Weekday morning review** Their teas are excellent both hot and iced. The special menu teas are always a highlight and definitely worth ordering. The tea ceremony is fun whether you're with a group or on your own. Only negative is that I just feel like the pastries are cold and not very fresh. If you're a business in Chinatown, I just feel like you can source fresher pastries or heat them up... Service is always pretty solid, they're patient and helpful with recommendations. I especially love the outdoor seating; there's lots of chairs and shade, and it's always very clean. The music can get a bit loud at times, but it's not a big deal. Parking is kinda iffy, but if it's a weekday you probably can find metered street parking.

I visited on a Saturday morning when they first opened - during the 30 minutes that I was there only one other person ordered anything. The staff was very nice and the interior felt cozy to me so it was a pleasant experience but hopefully they're typically busier than what I saw. For the food/drink itself, I ordered an Oolong tea and a pomello cheesecake. The tea was fine, albeit didn't stand out compared to any other oolongs I've had elsewhere. I enjoyed the pomello cheesecake, which wasn't particularly sweet (which was good because it was the first thing I ate that day). Overall a nice spot but definitely on the pricier side. Would visit again if I were in the area.

Loved it here. I wanted to do a tea ceremony for my birthday with tea and snacks, and this was a great option. I wish they had a tea flight but that is okay. The tea ceremony was a great experience. Do this with friends you don't mind getting vulnerable with because it is an emotional experience. The tea was super fresh and lovely. It came with some pastries and dried fruit which was nice to snack on. I also got a side of furikake popcorn since I heard how popular it was. It was super savory and flavorful. I wish it was warm/fresh, since it did was a cold/stale slight taste to it, but it was great nonetheless. The service was homey and friendly and I'd come back for more food and teas.

Really cute spot for tea-infused drinks and food! Was only able to try their cocktails because I got there late, and they were very delicious and unique. In a tucked in spot in Chinatown, lots of seating area inside and outside as well. Will be back to try their food!

Do I need reservations for Steep After Dark?

No, last time I just showed up. You should try to go early though since sometimes they run out of the special cocktails!

    Is there outdoor seating?

    Yes there is!

Do you have gluten free food options?

Hi Amanda, we have our Chicken Rice 2.0. The dish itself is gluten free. It does come with 3 sauces on the side. The chicken stock soy sauce would be the only one with gluten and something you can definitely stay away from to keep the dish…

They explain the science behind how they create every elixir aaaand how they are so sustainable! #1 sustainable bar in North America and apparently #24 of top 50 bars in North America! We decided to get a drink to celebrate Father's Day, only to strike out at the first two bars we tried--I guess a lot of places are closed at 9:30 on a Sunday. This is how we ended up at Thunderbolt, a buzzy bar in Echo Park, just far enough away that we'd never made our way over. I loved it immediately. Thunderbolt has the friendly, comfortable atmosphere of a neighborhood bar and the hip aesthetic and high-level cocktails of a millennial boozer destination. (Not that young people can't or shouldn't hang out here, but it seems especially geared toward people like us, who drank at Walker Inn a decade ago.) We ended up sitting next to a guy who regularly drives up from Palos Verdes. I guess the place gets pretty busy, but it was ideal on a Sunday night. Happening but not crowded, with just enough space at the bar for us to grab two seats together. The bartender was great, super helpful and welcoming. He also made excellent drinks. Thunderbolt is one of those bars with an encyclopedic illustrated book for a menu. Not a long menu, just a detailed one, with a lot of information available about each drink. We got a Liquid Picnic and a Barcelonnette--just one round to close out the weekend. Both were delicious. The Liquid Picnic was a smooth, savory gin martini made with London dry gin, tomato, citron, vermouth, rosemary, and black pepper. I learned from the book that it used clarified tomato water. (There was also further reading about the clarification process.) The Barcelonnette was a mezcal sour with Suze, passionfruit, and lime, the foam made without egg white through some geeky mixologist process. Thunderbolt is not our neighborhood bar, but we plan to go back when we can to check out the rest of the menu. It's a wonderful place, well worth a jaunt on the freeway.

We went on an early Thursday evening, so it was pretty dead, which honestly I liked. But on the weekends it turns into a piano bar, so if you want the full experience that's probably when you should come. My partner wanted to check this place out, and I had absolutely no idea what I was walking into. I used to live in Savannah, Georgia, and walking in immediately reminded me of bars back there. I've missed places like this. I didn't even bother looking at the menu. I asked one question: "Do you have fried pickles?" "And are they spears?" Check. And check. Instantly passed my very low bar test for a place like this, and they tasted exactly how I wanted them to. Both bartenders were great too. Easy to shoot the shit with. Although I will say... I kind of wished there were just a couple old guys sitting in the corner quietly brooding over their drinks. They also have pickled eggs, which I honestly can't remember seeing at another bar in LA. And if pickled pig's feet are your thing... they've got those too. They've never been my thing. The only thing that really pulled me out of the atmosphere was the giant ring light by the bathroom. I guess you have to keep the younger crowd entertained these days if a live piano player isn't enough. There's also the market next door, which is owned by the same people and looks like it's full of good stuff, but it was closed when we visited. I'm assuming it's open on the weekends too, which is another reason I'd recommend coming, if you want the full experience. One last thing... don't be a dick and order a Ramos Gin Fizz when the place is slammed. We only ordered one because it was completely dead.
