Terrible Service. Took a good 15 minutes after being sat before the waitress spoke to us. My wife and I ordered fajitas for 2. About 20 minutes in we got the plate of grilled chicken and peppers. About 10 minutes later we got the plate of standard fajita sides (lettuce, cheese, sour cream, etc). I had to ask for tortillas and that took another 5 minutes so by the time we were able to eat any of our fajitas, the chicken had sat on the table for 15 minutes and lost most of it's warmth. I have been patronizing this business for several years at the old and new location. I would order breakfast tacos for take out in the mornings and also my family of 4 would also dine in during the evenings. The food has been adequate for Tex- Mex and the cost has been reasonable. The last 4 times for dining in I have noticed that service has been really really bad and each time I have noticed a reoccurring theme. My Anglo family of 4 would get seated and given menus and maybe get chips and salsa in a timely fashion but would inevitably have to wait and wait to order and or get service. Each and every time during these instances I would look around and see larger Hispanic families who would come in after us being waited on hand and foot. They would have waitresses and wait staff attentively tending to they're table and would have they're food well before ours. Just FYI if your a Gringo or a Gringa or any other non Hispanic nationality your probably going to get substandard service. Due to this reoccurring theme I have chosen to patronize other establishments and will never go back. read more

That's easily $350 in business that we didn't give you because the manager/owner doesn't think their customers are worthy of any attention. I want to love this place, i really do. For starters, it's really close to where I live Secondly, they make a great margarita. My wife and I have been here over two dozen times and gotten excellent margaritas each time we ordered one. They have some great food. I personally love their enchiladas suizas and mini tacos mexicanos. Those are my go-to dishes for lunch and dinner. They also have very good guacamole and queso. For breakfast I really like their migas. Their prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get and the food is served pretty quick and hot. So why dont I love this place? My favorite Tex-Mex is crispy beef tacos and beef enchiladas. Theirs aren't too bad, but I don't like how they season their beef. So anything with their ground beef, i don't care for. We've easily been here over 2 dozen times now for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The service can be very uneven for your visit duration. For starters, their seating procedure can be slow. Typically, the cashier does the seating. This person also handles togo orders. So when they are moderately busy it can take a while to get seated even when tables are available. During those times a wait person will eventually seat you. We've waited close to 10 minutes to get seated when there were plenty of tables available, but the cashier was busy cashing people out and with to go orders. You get your initial order taken pretty quickly and get your food pretty quick and served hot. After the initial good service, once you get your food, sometimes the follow-up service is non existent. On too many trips to count, we've wanted to add something; be it another drink, some guacamole or dessert, and we couldn't get someone to come to our table. We've learned that some staff is always great and others not so much. Everyone is real good about getting your initial order out to you. After that, it kinda depends on who your waitress is if you can get anything else. Like I said, i want to love this place. And we keep going there because the things they are good at, they are very good. But the service can be very inconsistent if you need / want anything after your initial order delivery. read more

These restaurants the food it's great but they're management sucks. One time we came to eat inside and the server messed up our order by not bringing one meal I kept waiting while my family had their plates I eventually asked her if they were almost ready to bring my plate and she asked. As I was waiting for my take-away order, an older couple came in without their mask. I looked at the man and he smiled. I tugged at my mask indicating that they needed masks. The hostess offered two masks and said that they needed to put these masks on. And he kept saying, I want to sit outside. The wife, I am assuming but as much of an asshole as he was, I hope she wasn't. She was ready to put it on. He asked if they could sit outside and the Hostess asked again. "Oh I can't breath" with those things. "Do you expect me to eat with this on" as he played stupid. I said sir, "It's required and mandatory." He said that he wasn't sick and pointed to his head and I responded, "I don't know that and neither do these people." He then began to call me a "Jerk" and to mind my own business. The Hostess and other empoloyees started to gather as the man and I were getting heated. And they began to start telling him to put on a mask until the Hostess said "Get Out!" He kept yelling at me that I was being a jerk as they walked out. I can't standby and let customers beat up on restaurant employees anymore. I stuck a prickly thing in my mouth and I loved it. It was those delious Nopalitos. Who would have thought cactus was so good. Delicately sliced and sauted with sliced onions, throw a bit of seasoning in the pan then Blam. BF and I were fighting over this side dish. I digress from my review, this building has been here for some time and changes restaurants like we change socks. Inside is no frills décor, the corragated steel walls are rusted in spots. Very few customers when we walked in, more flowed in as we waited. I think we were the only gringos eating there. So here I am again, eating at another Mexican restaurant. I can now skillfully navigrate a Mexican menu and find something that isn't covered in cheese and chilis. I decided on the Pechuga Asada and BF picked a special Beef Chili Rellanos. The Pechuga Asada was served with Guac, refried beans, salad greens, tortillas and French fries. No offense but the fries looked so out of place and weren't needed. The chicken was tender and mouth-watering. Oh, and the tortilla have got to be homemade they were so good. I even enjoyed the refried beans, which has loads of flavor and the texture wasn't dry. The one taste of BF's chili rellanos was just the beef and not bad but not my cup of tea. BF thought there was little beef compared to the chili and cheese. He finished it all. We wanted to order the sopapilla's for dessert but no luck. They didn't have them that evening so we had the flan. So creamy and rich, it didn't stand a chance. It was devoured in no time. The service was outstanding. If we even thought we need something, our waiter magically appeared. We walked out of there fully satisified and only $27.00 lighter. Not bad. Being from Southern California, we are Mexican food critics. Is is the best? No. Will is satisfy you craving for "true" Mexican food"?. Hopefully. Their refried beans are "thin" but they have a good flavor so we enjoyed them. They have a kid's menu which includes chicken tenders and fries or a cheeseburger along with crispy or soft tacos. Full bar and good margaritas. Service was good. All "La Tapatia" locations are not created equal - we were pleased with the location by HEB Plus in Leander, but not at the one on 183 & Whitestone. This place is good for some decent Tex-Mex. The best part about the food is the portion sizes so you definitely don't leave hungry. We usually always order the combo fajita platter for two, and there is plenty of chicken and beef that comes with it. It goes down well with a nice tall glass of Horchata (I'm addicted to it). Only thing I'm not a huge fan of are the rice and beans. The rice is kind of stale and bland, and the refried beans are runny and have no flavor. Other than that, service has been good every time I've gone, and take out service is just as good. I will say they do have some fantastic breakfast tacos and they are really cheap. For the amount of food you get, you can't complain about the price. We drove past and saw the banner for $14.99 fajitas for two on Tuesday's and couldn't pass up such a deal. The service was fine, very friendly, but sadly the food was bland. The flour tortillas were perfection, but the chicken and beef for the fajitas were extremely under seasoned. The pico was just chopped up onion, tomato, and jalapeño with the rib cut out. No cilantro or heat so it didn't have that kick I usually love in pico. Them serving it on a bed of boring shaved iceberg didn't help either. It was almost $3 to add guacamole but I will say they give you a giant mound of it. Rice and beans came with it as well which were ok, nothing special. Overall when you pay so little for that much food you know not to go in expecting greatness. read more

We were charged for 4 children's plate dinners on July 6th and we were not even there. Be careful of this restaurant as they can charge your card and if you don't check your bank account each day they will get away with it. We were charged $12.45 twice. This has always been a goto place for us and we have been going since they opened. Sure through the years there have been small issues but no deal breakers until our last experience. Ordered the menudo and as I prepped it and began to eat I found a small hair than stirred the bowl and found a ton more. One after another. It was like someone shaved or got a haircut and all that ended up in the menudo. The nastiest and most disgusting thing I have experienced ever eating out. I have ordered this in the past with no issues and explained that when I took it back. My family was disgusted and the entire meal went to waste. I tried to give the staff and mgmt several opportunities to make this right before posting. They failed to do that and the mgr even challenged me to "we look forward to you sharing your displeasure with everyone sir". Many calls to the owner have went unanswered and he has not returned any of my msgs. We will never go back to this place again. read more

The food was pretty good, but my order was wrong, and once the food was brought, no one ever checked on us or refilled our drinks. I ordered the cheese enchiladas with extra side of rice instead of beans and received chicken enchiladas with a side of beans. Glad I'm not a vegetarian! This is a nicer location than the one on 1431/183 - still nothing fancy, and ceiling is just insulation and roof, but it's a better location if you want to eat in instead of drive-thru or take-out. Typical laissez-fair Tapatia service, but that doesn't matter because the food is delish. I got three diff breakfast tacos for din... Migas, Bean+Cheese, and Egg/Chorizo. My all time fave is still potato/chorizo, but I've not been disappointed with any of them. My only beef is that they didn't give me any salsa with my plate - they usually do when you get them to go. Not sure if it was an oversight, but they could have used a kick of spice/tomato. Unfortunately, after the food was brought to the table, the waitress never returned until long after we were finished, so I couldn't ask for it. Tapatia remains my favorite breakfast taco place, and so far, none of the three locations I've visited have let me down! read more
