La Strada is located at the El Dorado Hotel. I've dined here several times and have been very satisfied with each visit. The price is right and the food is amazing. Service is great. I recommend reservations on the weekends. One of my favorites is their appetizer called "FOCACCIA DI RECCO. We just did a walk in, we did not make reservations so that's the way it goes... However Mike was our waiter this evening and he did an exceptional job. Since we were going to see a comedy show, we didn't have time for the fall dinner experience here. I usually like a nice bottle of Caymus Cabernet. No time to sit and enjoy lol. We were supposed to come back and have dessert and I'm on the way, however my wife got a little tipsy at the comedy club (really strong cocktails lol) and she got stuck at a slot machine. Very beautiful restaurant inside the casino. Clean, professional, outstanding service. Brianna was our server and she was amazing-attentive, helpful, so nice. The bacon wrapped prawns were really good. I especially enjoyed the brown beans & onions drizzled with oil & balsamic that made the bed for the prawns! The mushroom ravioli is pretty good, but overhyped without meat in my opinion. The sauce is excellent though. We had it on some lobster/crab ravioli that were delicious. The lasagna is good. Very meaty and saucy, which I really liked. What I didn't like was that the only cheese was just on top. Not a cheesy lasagna at all. I appreciate the shredded Parmesan! Once I found out that Food Network named La Strada as one of the best places to get pasta in the country, I knew I needed to try it. I was very lucky and was able to score a reservation twenty minutes before we were seated. While it wasn't very busy when we first arrived at 5:45 pm on a Friday, it definitely filled up in the time we were there so I definitely recommend making a reservation. We ordered the infamous mushroom ravioli as our appetizer and are so happy we did. It probably wouldn't have been filling enough for a full entree, but it was absolutely delicious and deserves all the praise it receives. We got the chicken parmesan and half boneless chicken breast as our entrees. Both were fantastic, but between the two I liked the chicken parmesan more. They also brought around a basket of garlic bread that was to die for. The restaurant has a neat ambiance that transports you to Italy. The servers were very attentive. Someone at another table was celebrating a birthday and one of the servers came out and sang happy birthday to them in Italian and his voice was fantastic. Went for a date night with hubby..La Strada is really just a great restaurant. The people are great and go out of their way to please. Our server surprised us with the cheese bread appetizer that had prosciutto ham and fig jam... a sweet and savory mix! I ordered the boneless chicken with mustard sauce, and hubby ordered the charred octopus and steamed clams in a red tomato sauce/soup. All of it was excellent, and we also enjoyed a bottle of Caymus cabernet 2020, which was awesome!! And for dessert, the chocolate hazelnut cake was really delicious! read more

I don't believe I've ever had such excellent service from waiters in my life. I had always assumed that a Michelin-starred or really exclusive restaurant would provide me with that kind of service, but La Strada surprised me by providing it. And all of that is a result of our wonderful server Keith. Keith took care of business as usual, bringing out our chairs so we could take a seat. But when I was transferring my napkin and cutlery to a new chair, his attention to detail and concern for his customers became apparent. Keith stopped me right away to expertly set the table settings. He then assisted me in taking off my coat and placing it back on when I started to get cold. When the belt from my coat accidentally dangled down to the floor, Keith notified and quickly gathered it into my seat. Of course he was just as attentive to our food and drinks, always refilling before I ever hit the bottom. Basically, I didn't dare lift a finger if Keith could help it! Onto the food. We had the Steak Fiorentina and Risotto with Pan seared scallops. The steak was tender and cooked perfectly the way I liked it. The accompanying salad was a great idea as it provided some freshness. The risotto was creamy and lemony, just the way I liked it! But the scallops left some to be desired as it didn't seem fresh because of the strong taste of baking soda. But the deliciousness of the risotto made up for it. I don't want to forget to mention the beauty of the restaurant. I found myself transfixed on a mural of a Southern Italian countryside the entire dinner that made me ardently wish I was there. But the most unique part of the restaurant were the glittering indoor stars that lined the ceiling. They aren't your typical glow-in-the-dark star stickers but seemed to be LED lights on a velvet-black ceiling. It made for a romantic scene. La Strada has been around for a while because they made a name for themselves as one of the classic, upscale restaurants in Reno. I hope to visit it more often in the future. read more

Been here several times over the years and it continues to be an excellent decision for a special night out. Mushroom Ravioli and Lasagna you just can't ever go wrong with. Service and the overall vibe was also great as it was attentive and quite. I would have loved to give it a 5 star rating but the dessert selection and quality wasn't good. We had their Tiramisu and it was dry and tasteless to the point where we left it after only a couple bites. Also the waiter failed to share the cost on their table side smoked cocktails. He made it seem like they were normal or similar to normal costs ($17) but when the cocktail table service arrived they shared prices from $35 to $90 each which surprised both of us. read more

There was a good variety of food choices. The fettuccine alfredo was good, I added the grilled chicken which was very bland and no seasoning which was disappointing. The baked ziti was phenomenal according to my husband, the baked ziti did come in a dish that had cracks running through it. The service was great. It was disappointing to see they do not follow the business casual attire dress code they have, many people came in wearing flip flops, tank tops, shirts and even workout clothes. We had a date night here on a Saturday night. We made the reservation online and tried to park in the garage but that didn't work out. We ended up using the valet and made it to our reservation right on time. We were seated promptly with a view of the kitchen. Jack was our server and made our dinner experience special. We asked for a recommendation on a red and ended up with Avignonesi Nobile (picture attached) that went perfect with our meal. We started with La Caprese, fresh buffalo mozzarella, vine ripe tomatoes, basil & EVOO. Splitting the salad was perfect. I had the Veal Picatta which was heavenly and my husband had the Veal Marsala, also very good but we both preferred my dish. We were too full for desert but that did not stop me from ordering the Tiramisu to take home, which by the way was amazing. La Strada continually misses the mark for me. This restaurant is forgettable and yet I have family who come into town, that prefer to stay at The Row. With limited options we keep going back to La Strada. I have pretty much given up on the pasta dishes. This evening, my brother got the spaghetti dish and asked for no meatballs. He said that the spaghetti was too toothsome. We started with the mushroom ravioli, which in my opinion, taste bland. Another family member of mine got steak with vegetables and potatoes. The vegetables were terrible. They were over-charred and lacked any seasoning. :( The potatoes that come with the steak are constant miss for me as well. They can be gummy and the flavor is off to me. I decided to order Caesar salad and the lentil soup. The Caesar was fine, perhaps a little overdressed. The lentil soup was very good. I find that the service is usually good. La Strada is beautiful inside. I know I will have to keep returning to this restaurant. Had a great dinner here the other night before a concert at the Silver Legacy. There were no reservations available so we were lucky to grab a table. About 30 minutes after we sat the place was packed. Robert was our waiter and he was excellent. They were out of my first choice wine and he recommended one that was still great and actually cheaper. When does that every happen? All other service was also solid. Food was good for the most part. Our party had veal saltimbocca, linguine with clams, carbonara, and veal chop. Enjoying happy and comfort; it's seems Italian is "what's for dinner!" Our first night in Reno, as we wander throughout the hotel; good eats is on our mind. We don't know the area, as we wander and sway to all the live music this restaurant seems to be open. It's a week day here in Reno, they close at ten too. While bar food has its time and place we need "real food." A call from the hotel room makes the guest come to the restaurant for ordering, but when your hungry a short hike is no problem. As we gaze at the menu, it's a to go order night. The yelp app provides a better view of their food choices then the one the hotel offers for sure. As we approach the hostess stand they are about ready to close. It's thirty minutes and counting. The staff of course seems eager to leave, but they were nice enough to take our order. The hostess was a little on edge, maybe she just wanted to leave. We did not hold her attitude against us. The reviews here presented on yelp are excellent. After placing our order the wait begins. While we cannot all be happy, be are tired from a long drive and "need to replenish." We wander around the Row area in the hotel, wondering if the price of the food was worthy. After we returned to the room the order was intact and complete. All the place settings were provided since we are dining out of plastic. The extra sauce that we requested was provided; the only thing lacking was a smile. Their food is delicious truly, we believe based on the reviews from prior patrons that if you "dine in," your experience will be better. Truly that's too bad. The pasta was a little feeble but the extra red sauce provided made a much better difference. The mushroom ravioli was great, but good. I truly expected it to taste fresher. The mushroom sauce looked a little old. The bread side we ordered was "hard." We hopes that dessert would bring better results. For dessert it was a side of gelato and cannolis. The gelato was weak, but when mixed together with the cannolis was better. The sauce used on top of the cannolis was delightful. All in all fine dining is best when eaten as a dine in choice. For our first meal experience here it was so so. In the week we did spend here, we did not venture back because of the experience. I would advise that this establishment seems excellent, but make sure and dine in. Thank you to the staff for providing the extra special attention that we asked for our order. What a difference a few years makes. We came here recently to celebrate a birthday with some friends. We were happy that they were open on a Sunday night and made reservations so we would be sure to get a seat in what is usually a very busy restaurant. We arrived and there was hardly anyone else there. I figured off night, and everyone is stuffed after Thanksgiving feasting. We were seated right away and were given water and ordered drinks to wait for one late party member. A huge basket of garlic bread was brought to tide us over. So far so good - until I actually tried some of the bread. It was just OK. It was not very warm and tasted like it had been sitting around for awhile. I felt like what I make at home was better. The service was attentive and things came out in a timely manner - no problems there. The main dishes, however, did not meet expectations. I ordered Veal Piccata. What came out was some very thin slices of warm veal covered in a cream sauce with a few capers thrown in. It was definitely not the lite lemony sauce that I was expecting. The side veggies were two spears of overcooked asparagus and what I think was a grilled carrot that was inedible. My husband had the Uncle Willie's Beef Ravioli which he said was nothing special and not very flavorful. The Veal Osso Bucco was a bit dry and the rice was just rice and not risotto. I do not feel like they have kept the high caliber of fine dining that used to be their hallmark. I feel at this point there are far better Italian restaurants in Reno that better match the quality to the cost than LaStrada. read more

Their version of an old fashion was pretty good. I ordered a few. The app I ordered was Bruschetta. Ohhhhh man was that good! For dinner I go the Orecchiette. It was pretty good. The sausage was very tasty and it had that perfect level of spice. The sauce was more light and liquidy versus thicker which isn't really my cup of tea. I really enjoyed it though. Impromptu date night with honey. I'm craving ossobuco, and La Strada is one of the very few restaurants that serves this. I have a low tolerance for salt The ossobuco was perfectly seasoned to taste great yet not salty. It fills up quick and by the time we were leaving, we heard they only had seating at the bar available. The decor is a bit outdated, and there is an eyesore unused salad bar in the middle of the dining area. The chairs look like an early 90s fabric choice. Otherwise, it is very clean, the staff is friendly and professional, and the ambiance was peaceful. They offer garlic bread and breadsticks to start. We tried a fritto misto app, with shrimp, calamari and artichokes served lightly crispy. For dinner we had a seafood linguine with a wine sauce and the risotto w/ pan seared scallops. It was VERY flavorful with loads of shallots, and a slight tartness, and I loved every bite. Overall, the experience felt very luxe and was definitely a treat for special occasions. We were here for dinner 2 days after Christmas, and the place was pretty busy. Even though the line to get to the hostess was backed up all the way to the stairs, they were calm, professional and not too happy but polite. The food... Veal Saltimbocca was amazing, and so was the Veal Parmigiana. Originally my husband was going to try "Milano" style Parmigiana (deep fried, more like Schnitzel) but our server, Alex, recommended not to go with Milano style, and he was 100% right. We were glad to go as regular Veal Parmigiana. Tender and juicy meat, just enough cheese and sauce was amazing. We ordered Mushroom ravioli as an appetizer (4 pieces) and it came to our table within a few minutes after ordering. I am sure it is a signature dish, so they were ready but all our food came out pretty quickly despite the fact that almost all the tables were occupied. Our good friends took us for dinner as a Christmas present it was our first time there. I had the baked ziti and my wife had the linguini with clams. The food was excellent and the server top notch. We also had a glass of wine with our meal, Isosceles Cabernet. Either I didn't see the price or it wasn't listed but our hosts who don't drink were surprised that our individual glass of wine was much more than our meals. I was kind of embarrassed cause I would never do something like that without asking if it was okay to do. That said I would go back again but make sure to know the price of the wine that I'm ordering first. Our friends were so gracious, they are able to afford it. I hate to leave negative reviews, but we had such a bad experience at a place that is so highly rated that I have to post because my guess is it happens more often than the reviews suggest as this was a repeat for us. We went before a show because we hadn't been in a long time and figured it was worth another shot. The ambiance is nice if not a little outdated for a casino restaurant - has a dark romantic vibe. The wine list is quite disappointing for what is supposed to be a high end restaurant - all very standard and pricey compared to other places with the same wine. Service started out great as the bartender was highly attentive. We ordered an appetizer right away and asked that it come right away so we could get started before we ordered entrees. We ordered entrees when we got our wine and this is where things went downhill. We had been waiting about 30 minutes and our app still didn't arrive - the bartender came and told us another server took it. I've worked in restaurants this happens and you fire another one fast - it was the grilled octopus. It showed up about 30 minutes later and was super cold - presentation was nice - we were starving and needed a bite before the show but it was not edible chewy and strange flavor. At this point we only had 20 minutes to get downstairs and our entrees still hadn't arrived. We ended up asking to have them cancelled, which the bartender did. He also took the appetizer off the bill, which was nice but also the right thing to do. So my rating is based on: Ambiance 3/5 Wine list 3/5 Service 2/5 - this all was avoidable with 1.5 hours at the bar that was half full Food 2/5 = 2.5/5 and since I can't do half points going to round down on this one as the manager came by to apologize but didn't do anything (like comp a glass of wine) for the trouble. read more

Our group went to La Strada for a family reunion recently. The cafe was busy and the ambiance was lovely. Brianna was our waitress. She was very helpful in helping us select appetizers and main dishes. We had a great dinner with a large variety of items from steaks to seafood. La Strada is a cozy and lively spot to relax and eat well. We've been going to La Strada for 25 years and it never disappoints. Leaving a restaurant review with only 2 stars for what has been my favorite restaurant in Reno for over 30 years is hard to do! First of all on October 11, my family including my 88 year old mother were so excited to have dinner there! I want to make sure management knows the wait staff was awesome !!!!!! Attentive , fun, friendly and kept my mom's glass always full! Waitress had bartender pick a wine based on my likes and that did not disappoint ! What did disappoint was the food ..... something off that night . We usually order lots of appetizers and the calamari and artichokes were not what we know Waitress took back calamari and after getting artichokes, we decided no more appetizers . We left a whole basket of mushy garlic bread .....unheard of in my family My mom's mushroom raviolis were the best as always but the other pasta dishes were not ...... bolognese sauce was good but not the pasta .....it was not al dente and seafood pasta was a disappointment from other years except for mussels Sure hope this was an off night for food We wanted to talk to manager before leaving but my mom had an incident and we had to help her. We did go back next night to talk to manager but she was rude and not a good representation for La Strada ..... I had met her when the wait staff we requested weeks before was working a cake boss party. But I would like to say on my brief visit this is a beautiful establishment. The ambiance is a cross between classy and romantic. The staff are so professional, well dressed, and there to take care of all your needs. I ordered the lamb chops which were okay, but it was at the end of the night before they close so I'm sure they could have been better given we had more time. The bread is addicting, you just have to remove it from the table to stop eating. All in all, it was a nice visit and I'll be back to try more items and cocktails. read more

I dined here last night as part of a bachelorette party trip we took for a friend for the weekend, and picked this place because the menu looked like it had a lot of options and the prices were still decent enough. When we got there, we were seated immediately, and the overall environment is pretty great. They have sparkling lights meant to represent the stars of Italy, and our server was very kind and respectful. I personally ordered the Caesar Salad, and the Spaghetti Carbonara. Both tasted amazing, however that came back to bite me in the butt. I woke up at 3:30am today and got sick with food poisoning. Not sure which of the items it was, dirty lettuce from the salad or uncooked egg from the pasta, but it was such a disappointment that a place with such great staff and amazing looking food can make you sick hours later. Will probably not be back again because of this, but hopefully a staff member sees this and makes sure those items are properly cleaned and prepared for future guests! read more

We were really excited to come here. I would have loved to give more stars but I think is a fair rating. We ordered the antipasto misto cheeseboard which highly disappointed. The selection of meat was disappointing given the price and only accompanying some cheese and olives when Italian cuisine would be the perfect cuisine to elevate this board. We also ordered the Paloma which we actually ended up sending back as it did not taste great or like a Paloma and we love palomas. Our waiter took the board without asking when there were still olives and cheese on it without us having finished it was was odd as you would think they would ask if they can take it. For entrees we ordered the spaghetti carbonara which was good but definitely had more then a touch of cream as well as the seafood linguine which was ok, the broth tasted good but the pasta was just ok. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and made this annotation when reserving on Open Table. While the hostess was seating us she asked us if we were celebrating any special occasion. I was surprised but let her know that we were celebrating my wife's birthday. I had the Mushroom Ravioli and my wife had the Grilled Swordfish. Our sides were spinach and polenta. Unfortunately they were unable to provide a side of risotto. The ravioli was a perfect ten out of ten! The swordfish was grilled crispy on the outside and very juicy on the inside. The swordfish was served on two patties of polenta. The spinach was fresh and the polenta was creamy and nicely seasoned. We were full after the dinner and I asked our server if we could have the cake to go. He seemed puzzled asked if we were celebrating an occasion. I let him know that we were celebrating my wife's birthday. He apologized, wished my wife happy birthday and promptly went to the back and bagged up a slice of cake. The ambiance is very nice with faux marble columns, a starlight ceiling and beautiful paintings. read more
