Came here on a random Thursday at 5. Hardly anyone in line so we were seated immediately. Pretty clean inside and wasn't too loud till later when more people started showing up. Service was great, always checking up on things etc. The bread we had was pretty good, They have an early bird special (for lack of a better term). It was a choice of either risotto, carne, or Pesci. Then a choice of mushroom ravioli, a soup or salad and a desert. I choose the mushroom raviolis. I choose the veal chop parmigiana, and tiramisu desert. My mom choose the salad, salmon and pistachio gelato. She loved what she ordered. Overwhelmed by how much gelato she got at the end HA! A lovely evening spoiled by terrible service... Friends had commented how much they loved La Strada, so we were eager to give it a shot. A small group of 6, we had reservations for 5:30 on a Wednesday evening. This should not have been a particularly busy time. Situated in the Eldorado Casino, the entrance to La Strada does not capture just how big and spacious the restaurant really is. Beautiful decor and hand painted frescos, the environment conjures up images of old Italy. With our early seating, our party was able to take advantage of "the early bird special" which included a starter (soup, salad or Ravioli starter) and a dessert, all for the price of the entree alone. Our evening started with a friend ordering an Old Fashioned. Prepared tableside, he was offered a few options of whiskeys. Once selected, the server put on a show, pushing smoke into a decanter. I don't know if this was his intent, but the two ladies sitting closest to the server were absolutely innundated with smoke, leaving their clothes polluted with the smell of a chimney. Once prepared, the smell of smoke in the drink was unmistakeable. My friend said and I quote, "this is absolutely the worst Old Fashioned I have ever had. Completely undrinkable". We passed around the glass and I will say the smell of smoke alone kept me from trying it. What a waste. Moving on to the food, our starters were "fine". Everyone ordered salads. Nothing remarkable. They were fine. Now I will say, for the most part the food was quite good. I ordered the Chicken "Mattone" which was a boneless half chicken, in a delicious sauce. It is normally served with Calabrian Style Roasted Potatoes but I passed on the potatoes, opting for more Brocolini. The Brocolini was prepared to perfection. My entire meal was fresh, deliciious and prepared perfectly. My wife ordered the Salmon. Her fish was prepared perfectly. The outer edge had a nice snap to it and the fish was moist and flaky. Delicious. It was served Smashed Potatoes, which I have to say were not my favorite. I would have preferred either roasted potatoes or just plain mashed. One of my friends orderd the Risotto with Scallops. A generous serving of Risotto, the meal looked great. Unfortunately, my friend said the dish did not compare to the last time he ordered it, on this night, the dish was soft and gummy. Not good. Unfortunately, the big spoiler of the evening was the service. Coming early mid-week, I would have expected better service. Our server, while pleasant, would often disappear, leaving us in need of refills and a general feeling of inattention. On one of the rare occasions he did stop by, my friend asked for another "Gin & Tonic". Simple enough. I don't know if he just forgot but the second drink took forever to come. Once done with our meals, poor service continued with taking forever yet again to get some boxes and finally get the check and run the credit cards. Husband and I went downtown on a Tuesday night arrived at 5 o'clock. It was our anniversary and like many times before in 35 years we have been to La Stada. We were told there was no seating in the restaurant due to all reservations We were seated in the bar area. I was a bit bummed because over 35 years this was one of our favorite places the ambience and the food. I had a feeling that things weren't as usual when I saw the dead flower growing black mold in the small vase on the table. The server took our order my husband ordered spaghetti with Bolognese sauce. I ordered shrimp risotto with the risotto well done. I've had this before and I appreciate it soft and not crunchy. 45 minutes our plates arrived by another server My husband did not have what he ordered, and I had very crunchy risotto. After waiting several minutes, I asked the manager "Jack" to help us out. He grabbed our plates asked if we'd like them to redo our order correctly I told him no I was done being there. I've already been more than an hour He just walked away after a while. I asked her server for our check. She came back and said there would be no charge. After leaving a tip for food that we did not eat, we left...hungry. What a completely disappointing experience, I would expected so much more at La Stada. read more

Got a recommendation to try this place for dinner so walked over from my hotel. Located in the restaurant row area of the casino, it's elegant inside with all white/ light interior. Seated right away, ordered an old fashioned while I looked over the menu. Decided on a Caesar salad and the fettuccine Alfredo add chicken Salad was good, pretty standard Alfredo was delicious and chicken was cooked well. Really tasty. Drink was also good, a normal old fashioned. Always surprised when they can't make a decent old fashioned Service was excellent. We went to La Strada last night and had such a great experience. The food was superb and tasted incredibly fresh. Everything came out timely, the service was fantastic, and you could really tell the staff cared about the experience. The manager even came over to check on us, which I really appreciated. We lucked out and had our own little private room, which made the night even better, but honestly the quality of the food alone would make me come back. We sat at the bar area which was nice and you don't need reservations, staffing is limited so some wait time to order but not too bad and understandable. The food was ok. I enjoyed my pasta but if I had to nitpick I would say the bowl is a bit awkward to cut into two chicken breasts. Would have preferred the chicken to be cut for that kind of plating. The steak was precut with some fried oyster mushrooms and fries which can be a pretty heavy dish. Definitely would have benefited from some freshness or acidity to break through all the fat. 1. Wait time: we waited at least 30 minutes probably more after our reservation time. Not sure why they enforce such a strict reservation policy (with late/cancel charges) yet cannot seat everyone on time in a timely manner. When we were finally brought to our seat, we all many many empty tables so that made us even more confused about the extra wait. 2. Service: lackluster. Our server kept forgetting orders, coming back and forth, others were forgetting things we requested such as bread, and overall service was overall extremely slow. They were all very nice and polite, but they really need to work on efficiency. Food also took awhile for each dish, check took forever to come. Our entire meal took 2 hours! 3. Food was alright, nothing to write home about. I got their famous mushroom ravioli (7 pieces) but there wasn't much flavor. The one thing that stood out was the pizza; it was fantastic with plenty of topping; we all thoroughly enjoyed this one! Drinks while expensive was just alright as was the tirimisu. Oh yeah, one of our glasses had a fresh lipstick stain on it (see image) Unfortunately I would not recommend eating here unless you have lots of time for your entire meal. First time in Reno and first restaurant! Atmosphere: The restaurant is located inside of the casino, so it's a fun walk to get there! The restaurant is very classic-looking, dimly lit - definitely a romantic vibe for date night. It's quiet and seems a but upscale (as Italian restaurants tend to me be), but you can dress casual. There's no dress code. Customer Service: Everyone was very nice. I noticed that a number of staff were older gentlemen, which I found pretty endearing. They have that grandpa vibe to them that others might find a bit awkward, but it didn't bother us. They're sweet. Parking: We stayed at the hotel and parked in the self-parking. There's a parking garage, but I'm not sure how much that cost (perks of being a passenger princess). Pricing: It can feel overpriced for what you get, but for a restaurant inside the casino, an uncharge is expected. It costs more than your regular Italian restaurant, but less than fine dining. For 2 people, we paid $200 for 1 appetizer, 2 pastas, and 2 drinks. Food & Drinks: The Smoked Old-Fashioned is fun to get because they bring the cart over and make it in front of you. The price ranges from $25 using Maker's Mark whiskey, or up to a special whiskey that is $65. I think this was more expensive than the drink is worth - it was fun and smoky, but I wouldn't pay $65 for it. That's just me. Mike was very pleasant in making our drinks. The Raspberry Martini was really good. They do not go light on sugar here though, so something to be aware of. For appetizers, we had the Bacon-wrapped Prawns. For Pasta, we had the Mushroom Ravioli and the Seafood Linguine with red sauce (which was what was recommended by our waiter, Christopher). My personally favorite was the Mushroom Ravioli. I don't think I'll be back to try anything else on the menu. It was a nice restaurant to try for a more serious dinner. You should try it at least one - get the Mushroom Ravioli! read more

My special treat place always satisfies. Enjoyed dinner here recently with friends/family and was so excited to go and enjoy La Strada once again. I've come to love and appreciate how well they execute Veal Osso Buco. So yummy and with the Risotto Milanese I can't think of a more decadent dish! I brought a nice bottle of wine to enjoy and I love that they do a corkage fee for that opportunity. Sometimes you just want a special bottle to pair that happens to be in your private stash! It was my sister's pre- early birthday celebration. She wanted this place for dinner. I made a reservation First of all, upon seated on our table. Everyone was greeting us warm and kindly. Then our server and bussing our table was also attentive to every detail on table etiquette. We all agreed the food was sumptuous, my mom finished her plate and said this is her first she really liked her pasta. We all shared a bits and pieces, everything was delicious! Last night we had dinner at La Strada with a party of five, and overall it was a great experience. One of the first things we noticed was the atmosphere--you truly don't feel like you're in a casino. The décor feels like an old Italian restaurant, complete with beautiful columns and classic details that make the space feel warm and authentic. We started with a couple appetizers: the eggplant parmigiana and the focaccia di recco. The focaccia was outstanding--stuffed with cheese and prosciutto and served with a fig jam that reminded me of apple butter. Absolutely delicious and something I'd order again. The eggplant parmigiana was just okay--it lacked seasoning and could have used more flavor. They also brought garlic butter for the table, which was a nice touch. Our server, Christina, was fantastic. She recommended a wonderful wine within our preferred price point, and everyone at the table really enjoyed it. For entrees, everyone ordered something different and all were very happy with their meals--even our picky eater, who ordered Uncle Willie's ravioli and ended up taking leftovers home! We also had the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp (the shrimp were impressively large--think upscale steakhouse cocktail shrimp size), baked ziti, bucatini carbonara, and I had the linguine and clams. One of my reservations canceled on me, so I ended up coming here last minute... and honestly I'm glad it happened. From the second we walked in, the vibe was amazing. La Strada, tucked inside the Eldorado Resort Casino in Reno, delivers a reliably enjoyable Italian dinner with some standout dishes and friendly service. While it earns a solid four stars from me, there are a few areas where it feels like it's coasting on nostalgia rather than pushing forward. The vibe is classic Italian trattoria--think warm lighting and Italian music playing throughout. The music fits the theme but can get a bit loud, making conversation a little challenging at times. The space feels dated; it could really use a facelift to feel fresh again. The old salad bar station is still there, now filled in with decorations, which comes off as slightly cheesy and reminds you how long the place has been around. No complaints here. The waitstaff was friendly, attentive, and quick with drink refills and orders. Everything moved at a good pace, which made the evening pleasant. Garlic Bread Starter (complimentary) was really good. Crispy edges but still soft inside, with a strong, well-balanced garlic flavor. A great way to start the meal. The Focaccia Amalfi was ordered as an appetizer and extremely fresh and tasty overall, but the topping ratio is off--way too much tomato and not enough bread. At $20 for just three small pieces, it feels a touch overpriced. We ordered Chicken Parmigiana and mushroom ravioli for entrees. The chicken itself was outstanding--perfectly crispy exterior, juicy inside, and an ideal ratio of marinara sauce to melted cheese. Unfortunately, the included sides (roasted potatoes and asparagus) were disappointing: both arrived only lukewarm and the asparagus was soggy, the potatoes overcooked. I ended up ordering a side of pasta (which I'd recommend doing from the start), and it was very good--interesting hand-rolled-style noodles that held the sauce beautifully. The Mushroom Ravioli is a nostalgic throwback for anyone who remembers the old Eldorado buffet days (this dish was always the standout there). The ravioli are fresh, and the sauce is rich and incredible--easily one of the best items on the menu. Overall La Strada delivered a very good, enjoyable dinner with some truly excellent dishes that make it worth a visit, especially if you're staying at the Eldorado or craving classic Italian comfort food. read more

At one point early into the meal she said she was "surprised the corn chowder soup of the day was good" and I didn't feel very confident ordering anything after that. I thought the mushroom ravioli was famous? Famously boring perhaps. For a casino restaurant in Reno this place is definitely a departure from the usual. We had a reservation for 24 people and due to unexpected circumstances we were running late, yet the restaurant was very understanding and accommodating. We called and kept them advised and we really appreciated their assistance. Placed at three tables of eight my group was placed in a private dining room and it was delightful. The ambiance is very Tuscan Mediterranean and it's quite large. It's a higher level tablecloth type restaurant. Seated comfortably we perused the very well thought out menu, obviously Italian. It's also pricier, but worth the cost for the value. We ordered bottles of red wine and the array of choices was quite good, albeit on the pricier side again. Toasted garlic bread was brought to the table, and for my meal I ordered the Ceasar salad and the special and widely acclaimed mushroom ravioli. All of it was excellent. The salad was fresh and very well dressed. I'm not a huge fan of a Ceasar but this really hit the spot. The ravioli was exceptional and delicious. The pasta was freshly made and the mushroom filling was just right. Topping it off with a sauce and herbs fit the dish perfectly. It wasn't over sauced or overembellished. Some freshly ground pepper added some to the flavors. We ended the meal with a dessert and coffee. The service was outstanding. They are professional, personable and on top of their game. My partner and I dined at La Strada on Friday 4/10. While the ambiance was nice, the food and service were sub-par. Here are examples of why I am only rating it two stars. The service was very slow. I believe that this was due to the number of large parties of bowlers that were dining that evening. (Tables of 12 or more.) Our poor server was assigned to a large table, plus had four other tables to take care of by themselves. This slowed down delivery of our food signifcantly. Mind you, the server was very nice, but too busy to do their job successfully. Our server did not bring out our side dish until we had almost finished our entrees. We really should have sent it back since dinner was almost over at this point. (We only ate a few spears of asparagus.) Regarding food quality - We ordered fried artichokes, which were OK, but lacked any zing. I recommend adding lemon wedges to this dish. The pappardelle were absolutley swimming in a somewhat watery meat sauce. This sauce needed to be cooked down more before being served. Note: Italians don't drown pasta in sauce. The dish should not be 80% sauce and 20% pasta, as was presented by La Strada. The chiappino broth was too tomatoey. It was more like a sauce. (Maybe they make one tomato-based broth for both sauces and soups?) The side of grilled bread was dripping in a flavorless oil. They should have just served the garlic bread with the chiappino instead of the grilled bread. We were not offered grated cheese with our dishes. I think the server was to busy to remember. The meal wasn't a total loss, but we will not be returning to La Strada. For $100 plus tax and tip, I expected more. read more

Went to la strada solo and sat at the bar. I ordered the mushroom ravioli for an appetizer as I was told that's what they were known for. I also ordered the seafood linguine for dinner. The mushroom ravioli was good, the sauce was slightly under seasoned and needed something else to complete the dish though. The ravioli were cooked perfect and they were STUFFED with a lot of mushroom. The seafood linguine (pictured) was ordered in the red basil sauce. When it came out it was so hot I could hardly eat it, typically a great thing but with seafood not so much. When it first came out the seafood was cooked perfect, however, after it was cooked enough to eat the seafood was like rubber unfortunately. The noodles were slightly under cooked as well, I understand al dente pasta but this was borderline el raw pasta. The savior was the bartender Briann. She was absolutely amazing. read more

Wow! The potential that this place could have to be the #1 Italian restaurant destination in the Reno area is limitless. Unfortunately, the reality is quite a distance away from this marker. A fairly busy Friday evening we expected to watch bit for a table and we did. Once seated it took a good 15 mins for someone to acknowledge us and bring water. Finally, the bartender came over to ask if anyone had helped us yet. We let her know that we were ready to order. She didn't have a pen or anything to write on so she said she would remember. We ordered and she repeated it back. We waited another 15 mins and the assistant brought some bread. We wolfed down the bread and our waters were empty. We again did not have anyone check on us for another 15/20 mins. Our waters were refilled and we asked for more bread. The bartender came over again to ask how the appetizers were. We hadn't been served any yet. So she went back to check on them. She returned immediately with the plate of frito misto and our shared caeaser salad. Clearly the appetizer had been sitting under the warmer as it was obvious that it didn't just come out of the fryer. The Calamari was over cooked. The salad was looking a bit old. The dressing looked dry on the romaine and was also clearly sitting for awhile. Service was so S L O W! At this point we had finished our salad and appetizer. She came back to let us know that there was a "mix-up" in the kitchen and wanted us to repeat our entree orders. (Was this truly the case or did she forget our orders since she didn't write anything down? I'm not sure but...) Other customer's orders were brought out way before ours who arrived significantly later than us. Once we got our food the Entrees looked like they had also sat under the warmer for a bit. We Had to ask for bread for the third time. By now our wine glasses were empty but not once did they ask if we wanted another glass. The shrimp ala vodka sauce was decent. I ordered the Orcchicette with broccolini and Italian sausage. While eating I found a shrimp shell in my food! That's kinda weird eh? Overall, it was a huge disappointment. I realize that they were short handed but the service was horrible. The food delayed and it affected the taste and visual presentation. I probably won't return for awhile especially unless I get feedback that big changes have happened. I hate to hold this against them but they need to step up the game for the prices that they are asking. read more

This restaurant is excellent! The table bread is garlic bread and it was soooo good! Can't believe they give this for free! My pasta dish that had prawns and vodka sauce was delicious! So flavorful! My husband had the seafood pasta with red sauce as it was highly recommended. He is always a white sauce guy but went with the recommendation and it didn't disappoint! We both agreed our meals were exceptional! Don't miss eating here! read more

Good..........but not great. With a few tweaks, could be great. Arrived on a weeknight. Tried to get in earlier in the evening but was told no availability, so arrived around 7:30pm. I'm really surprised they were booked, as hardly any tables full at 7:30. I understand they have a special available between 5 - 6, so maybe that is a draw. Passed on appetizers; maybe we are not their target audience but no meatballs, crab cakes, etc. Instead, had the complimentary bread, which was very good. Think pieces of garlic bread, toasted nicely with butter/garlic. Had the beef ravioli, and bolognese. Both appeared to have homemade noodles. The sauce appeared to be the same on each dish, so the flavor profiles very similar. The misses: each of us ordered a drink. No effort made to inquire if we wanted a second drink. This would be an obvious and easy way to increase the bill. We also wanted to order dessert, but by then it was 8:40pm (they closed at 9) and there was such a long pause before returning I did not want to keep the kitchen staff for just our table (by then, we were the last patrons). If the waiter had come by shortly after depositing the dessert menus, we would have ordered. Instead he disappeared for a long stretch and when he finally returned we decided to get the check instead. Would I go back? Maybe; it was a solid meal, no complaints on the food. We were looking for a nice dinner for our last night in Reno . We decided to dine at La Strada . We made reservations on Open table . We arrived at our appointed time . We were quickly seated . We were greeted by a few of the staff . :) Nice large restaurant. I noticed many awards the restaurant have won over the recent years . We were seated and served water and a really large bread basket . Very fresh and yummy bread sticks and garlic bread . We met our server Jacob . So, knowledge and friendly . He made our dining experience extra special:) . We started with some drinks a Pinot Griso Pinot Noir, and a Guava Refresher. Very tasty ! I had the La Strada Salad to start - nice salad. I had the Chicken Parmigiana really moist and nice breading and sauce . It came with polenta and veggies. My Hubby and our friend had the Veal parmigiana chop w/ a side of fettuccine w/ meat sauce . The meal also came with polenta . They absolutely loved their meals . Our other friend ordered the Mattone it came with potatoes and veggies . She said it was really good . Excellent service and good food. The ambiance was lovely, too! After leaving La Famiglia unserved the prior evening, we decided to celebrate my birthday at La Strada. It was a good meal starting with the Caesar salad and tomato soup. Both were delightful! My daughter ordered the shrimp with curly pasta which was amazing, best dish of the night. Mom got scallops but substituted the risotto from the other risotto dish. She was happy with it. I got the lamb which was quite good. They were accommodating to my gluten free requests. The dessert was not great. The creme brûlée was the best of the bunch.. we had tiramisu, hazelnut pear chocolate tart. The chocolate was cold and difficult to eat. All in all it was nice to have a birthday dinner at a nice Italian restaurant. read more

My husband and I just had dinner at La Strada and I am honestly blown away. This was one of the best fine dining experiences we have ever had. From the moment we walked in, the service was exceptional. The manager, Alexander, was incredibly welcoming and attentive, and our server (I will update with their name because they were wonderful) made the entire experience feel special from start to finish. What truly amazed us was the level of hospitality. The chef actually came out to greet us and even prepared a couple of special dishes from the kitchen for our one year old daughter. As parents, that meant so much to us and is something we will never forget. It is rare to see that level of care and personal attention. Even the smallest details stood out. The busser was fantastic and thoughtfully packed our leftovers in neatly separated containers so everything stayed perfect to enjoy later. That kind of attention to detail says a lot about the entire team. And the food. Absolutely incredible. Authentic, beautifully prepared, and honestly very reasonably priced. You could easily spend the same amount at a chain restaurant like Olive Garden, but here you get a true fine dining experience with outstanding service. Everyone we interacted with was warm, professional, and clearly proud of what they do. If you are in Reno and love Italian food, you absolutely need to dine here. My husband and I stayed at Eldorado in Reno and decided to eat here for dinner.  We ordered Spaghetti with veal meatballs and Insalata La Strada.  They provided a complimentary bread basket, which was really good.  When I placed the order, I told the server that my husband wasn't hungry and wasn't planning to eat.  He took it upon himself to have the order split (at an extra charge for both the spaghetti and salad!), which was not cool.  The food was good, but the extra charges were annoying! read more

Drove up to Reno for a convention and stayed at the El Dorado Hotel. I had seen the signs about La Strada had the best pasta in the country. Needless to say, my daughter and I were intrigued. So, we made a reservation on the last night we were there. We arrived and were seated immediately and it wasn't super busy like i anticipated but there were a good amount of tables. We had a friendly and sweet waitress which makes all the difference in the world. In fact, the entire staff were so friendly. We were greeted by everyone there and a very attentive staff. Now, on to the food!!! We had the following: Calamari Frutti - 10/10 Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo- 9/10 Lasagna - 9/10 Seafood Linguine- 9/10 Spaghetti Bolognese - 9/10 Overall, we had a phenomenal dinner there. Ate here for Christmas dinner and made reservations for 5:15 pm. We got seated immediately so it seemed they were not fully booked for the night. Let me go review the food. For an Italian restaurant, they offered complimentary bread that was more like garlic bread. No plain bread and no olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The bread was soaked with garlic butter and was fine. Nothing special but was a good supplement with my main course. 3 stars We had the soup of the day which was broccolini if I recall. It was good, not too creamy or watery. Though I added some pepper to enhance the flavor. 5 stars For the main course, my wife had the mushroom ravioli which she enjoyed. I tried one and had a chocolatey taste to it which I was surprised with. It can get cold quickly. 5 stars My main course was the chicken parmigiana. It consisted of 2 chicken breasts. To me, it was okay. The portion was huge and came with polenta and asparagus. If I can be honest, I wasn't that impressed with the flavor since it seemed a bit bland and I left 1/4 of the parmagiana on my plate. 3 stars We did have the gelato and sorbet for dinner which we enjoyed. 4 stars Ambiance- 5 stars . Although because of the dim lights, not great to take pics of your spouse at the table. Service was fast and efficient . 4 stars Would I go back? Probably not since I didn't think the food was anything special and having been to Rome, Italy.
