It's hard to find quality food that's worth the cost lately. We enjoyed the chips and salsa. And hubby ordered a Mexican coke, and the server brought him a frosty glass for it. My dining partner ordered the barbacoa tacos, and I didn't even have to ask if they were good. The involuntary "Mmm..." after the first bite answered that question. Four tacos disappeared in record time, followed by, "I could've eaten two more." That's about as glowing of a review as you're going to get. Now let's talk about these tortillas. Handmade. Corn. Tortillas. Are you kidding me? They're the kind of tortillas that had me question every tortilla I've ever eaten. Soft, fresh, and somehow they manage to steal the spotlight even with everything else on the plate being so good. The chips and guacamole were excellent, too. The chips have to be made in-house and they disappeared at an alarming rate. The bottled table salsas deserve their own paragraph because they completely confused me... in the best way. They bring three to the table... a green, a red, and a darker red. How can I not like this place? It has my name written all over it! I came here on a Saturday night to sample this popular gourmet taco shop. I stepped into the dark interior which had a Day of the Dead décor and filled with ten tables for hungry diners. The menu is divided into five sections: Gourmet Tacos or Gourmet Taquetzin Street Tacos Gourmet Burros or Cazuela Bowl Gourmet Corn - Quesadillas Lonches I ordered the Al Pastor Burro (spicy pork, salsa, pineapple, veggies) $9 and Daniel got the Tlaloc Vegan Burro (mesquite grilled cactus, caramelize onion, veggies and cheese) $9. Both of them did not have rice or beans inside (a.k.a. fillers) and still kept it hardy but not overstuffed. My Al Pastor had the spiciness and sweetness which you typically find but what made this burro special, was it was grilled on the top and bottom and the fillings were made from high quality ingredients. And for you cheese lovers, you won't find it inside but I'm sure you can request it. The burro was a healthy alternative and the cactus had a nice texture. My only complaint was it needed additional salsa to add to the flavor. Be warned ... take a Beano before this meal! All meals came with a basket of tortilla chips and unlimited trips to the salsa bar which had at least ten different types of homemade salsa to experiment. Most of them had a kick of spice to it and you can pick from chunky vs. smooth salsas. My favorite was mixing the Salsa Mexicana and Avocado Salsa. Talk about double dippin'! The Salsa Chipotle was also another favorite for us. Personally, the lighting was a little darker than I preferred during dinner. I wouldn't call it romantic but rather adventurous! Since it was a busy night, the two servers were on their toes and the wait for the food was reasonable. They had an extensive cocktail list with many of the diners enjoying their margaritas and homemade horchatas. I hope to return to try the mole street tacos and say I ate at "Santisima"! read more

I give this place 4 stars because the tacos I had were absolutely delicious! I had the cochinita pibil taco platter for $6.99. Two double tortilla tacos, filled with the most delicious shredded, savory, Achiote pork! Wow! Knocked my socks off! OH, the plate comes with a side of rice (which I didnt try ) and a side of beans, which were pretty good. The tacos are pretty big. You can expect them to be the size of a corn tortilla like those you would buy at Safeway or Fry's....comprenden? If and when I go back, I don't plan on getting the platter but instead only ordering the tacos a la carte, which then run $2.99 per taco. Not necessarily too much of a savings, but at least I'm not wasting food. The salsa bar is definitely a fun thing to try with the free chips they give you. There were many salsas to choose from and most were good. Did any blow me away? No, but they are good. I especially enjoyed the radish salsa and the tomatillo salsa. For my beverage, I chose the Jamaica. It was pretty good, perhaps a lil too sweet for my taste, but good. I drank the whole thing, so I must have liked it! I did notice, that they had a few beer options hand written in to the menu....sorry for not having more info on the beer selection or price.... I agree that the music is just a bit too loud, but i did enjoy the music! Writing this review makes me sad, because La Condesa used to be a favorite. I would recommend it to everyone. It was my go to for out of town guests to show them how awesome Phoenix food can be. It was a stop at least every other week for me as I lived pretty near by. But my last few visits here have just been terrible. The food is still quite good, but I think they are just overwhelmed with their popularity. I gave them a 6 month break, and went back recently hoping things had improved but no better. Salsa bar dirty and half the things are out with no replacement. Food served in stages where one in the group is done eating before the others even see the food. Oh, and our drinks - the last things on the table. About 20 minutes after I got my tacos. The final insult, I don't eat red meat and there was a big chunk of gristly beef in my fish taco. I'm pretty sure it was all cooked in the same pan. Cross contamination is a big deal and incredibly unsafe for people with allergies - especially seafood ones. I know it is a little hole in the wall dive, and that is my kind of place, and I'm not expecting white linen tables and hovering waiters, but the place is small enough that you can be on top of stuff like getting drinks to a table in less than an hour (yes, that is what it took to get them). The service is just deplorable. As good as the food is, I don't see myself going back anytime soon. read more

I think my friends and I waited for nearly an hour until we were seated; I don't think we'll ever do that again. We were really enjoying the food that we ended up sharing another burro, the La Santisima burro (chicken). Overall, the burros were pretty legit and mouth watering. I've struggled with whether to write this review for several days, primarily due to how unsettling the experience was. Having visited La Santisima before and always enjoyed it, we were thrilled to check out their new location. I arrived with my sisters around 2 PM, and the waiter, Anna, was exceedingly rude. She displayed impatience while taking our order. When my sister inquired about salsa, Anna pointed to the taco bar in a dismissive manner. She attempted to take our drink orders, but when she noticed we needed more time, she simply said she would just get us water and walked away. To our shock, she began badmouthing us to another staff member in Spanish, assuming we couldn't understand her. When she returned to our table, I confronted her, stating that she should be cautious about making derogatory comments about customers when she doesn't know if they understand Spanish. After reading other reviews, it's clear that many others have encountered similar issues, suggesting that management is indifferent to the behavior of their staff. I've visited this restaurant several times with friends and family and I'm never disappointed. They have many delicious Mexican dishes and even serve a delicious, fresh, and well-portioned seafood options. The margaritas were one of the best I have ever had. The Street tacos were my favorites, but the guacamole and La Condesa were also delicious. So many good choices! If you don't know what to choose and if you're new in this spot, ask the server's recommendation. They will give you suggestions that you will never regret it. The place was just nice with a very comfortable setting. I love the art wall frame inside. It makes the location more beautiful and interesting. How much do I love this place? Well I live in Washington state and I've made a flight layover in Phoenix just to run grab some lunch here. The salsa bar is amazing. Tons of unique flavors. My only critique would be the avocado salsa is a little too spicy for me. Otherwise I really enjoy almost all the salsas. The main reason I come here though is for the Mole Quesadilla! Their quesadillas are not your standard fair, they are deep fried, and filled with whatever you order with them. If you are a mole lover, this should not be missed! I've yet to find another place that I can get this dish as good, hence the reason I will make alterations to my flight plans to eat here! i went into message envy a week ago and i was very pleased by the service . the front desk girl checked me in and i waited only two minutes for my message therapist , her name was Michele D and she was fantastic ! i went in for a relaxing message and i got it !. I liked the way she used guiding strokes and i like how she was not to firm . originally my shoulders were hurting that morning but Michele took care of that. Hey! Anybody who liked the art in this restaurant should let the REAL artists know! Manuel Gilavalos y Garcia and Ricardo Ramirez are LIARS and THIEVES, and those with actual talent are getting ripped off. The owners and managers of this restaurant really need to do some research before giving money to supposed "artists" for their work. Countless news articles have now been written praising those thieves. The idea is deplorable. Best Mexican Restaurant (Authentic Mexican Food) I discovered this place a couple of weeks, since I became addicted and I can not stop coming and eating DELICIOUS BLACK MOLE WITH TRADITIONAL WHITE RICE. To all friends of yelp if you like to eat mole, this is the only place in the valley that serves real traditional Oaxacan black mole. La Santisima Gourmet Taco Shop is my favorite place in Phoenix to get fish tacos and Mexican seafood. The ingredients are really fresh, and everything tastes yummy. Service can be a bit slow and seating is limited. So, I recommend calling and placing to-go orders. If you try to eat inside the restaurant during peak hours, prepare to wait 30 minutes. I usually get the Baja Sur Dogfish Shark Tacos, but I also like the Cabo Shrimp Tacos. My boyfriend prefers beef, pork, and chicken dishes. So, he usually gets the Sonoran Carne Asada Tacos or the Mayan Cochinita Pibil Tacos. He also likes the Aztec Tinga Tacos. read more

This is one of our all time favorite Mexican food restaurants and they recently expanded their menu to include a TON of vegetarian and vegan options, which makes me incredibly happy. I have a soy allergy, so finding Mexican food that I can eat is difficult and so the fact they do not use it in their food (and they make their own tortillas!) is amazing enough, but the high quality of their options and the wonderful flavors they offer blows my mind. Not to mention their huge salsa bar! We love spicy salsas and they do not disappoint. The strawberry salsa is game changing. read more

We got here one night and sat down for dinner, our waiter was spacey and not paying attention to any of us then she came to our table way too many times and even started talking about her political standings. The food was nothing out of the ordinary but good overall. When it came time to pay the bill it was obvious the tip was the only concern of hers and even stood there while I filled out the tip portion for $9. When I check my credit card statement it read $19 because someone added a one in front of the nine. I will not be back. :) read more

This place has a very unique atmosphere. My family owns the oldest Mexi restaurant in Scottsdale so I know a few things about Mexican food. First off, the food was awesome however the waiter was not very helpful for first- timers. Second of all, he snuck guacamole into our order. My dinner partner was upset they weren't up front about that. She is less experienced and thought the guac came with the chips. Shame on you for that. Be more upfront and helpful to new patrons. I checked this place out La Santísima after seeing all the rave reviews. The vibe is definitely cool with lots of unique artwork. Our waitress was nice, just not too familiar with the drink menu. I ordered the guacamole for $15 and honestly, it was a letdown. Barely a few spoonfuls and it came out cold, like straight from the fridge. Not worth it at all. The Coliflor Asada made up for it a decent portion and tasty. Overall, the spot is fun to hang out at, but for me it didn't totally live up to the hype. read more

I want to thank Ingelside Animal Hospital, and especially Dr. Childs, for their compassion, ethics, and love for animals, Dr. Childs was able to do a though exam on Gabby after she had anesthesia and with my ok did an xray on the mass she had growing, that is when they found the cancer surrounding her spleen, they could have done her dental surgery and she would later have suffered with the cancer, as it is she went to sleep and never had to suffer, Love you guys, Thanks for loving my Gabby. read more

Like a number of others here, I have to agree with the comments about the service. The food is good, but the service is just bad. For me and my guest, the experience was ruined but how long everything took. Honestly, I won't go back. The place is resting on it's Triple D review laurels and just isn't trying. It took so long for us to get service and food it's just not worth it, I'll try some other place and also go back to my normal hole in the wall that's really good. read more

The Mayan Cochinita Pibil tacos are AMAZING. These tacos have really impressed me. The horchata is also a great treat. They add strawberry, melon and nuts. I'm not vegetarian but i try not to eat so much meat and their veggie tacos are sooo good. Cheese, peppers, onions and mushrooms. My mouth is watering just thinking about them. I took away 1 star because sometimes the service is very slow, although i will say the last time i went they seemed to be working on it. read more

They build equipment and provide installations and service for major companies like Lowe's, Spencer's, and many home builders in the AZ market. The best Mexican food around. Salsa bar has too many options - cilantro salsa got me like crazy. The classic lime margarita ( superb tasty), gandhi bowl, gandhi taco, vegan burro ( I don't remember the name) second one on their vegan menu- these are the things we ordered and every dish stands top. Really liked it. FYI the waiting time is crazy. Entered at 8:10 and we seated by 9:00. I have no idea if they actually take reservations but a must try place. read more

The Torta & Taco Plate combos are $15.99 each. It's a bit higher, but that's turned into the new norm with everything. Taco plate includes rice & beans, while the Tortas include Fries. 2 Taco Plates & 2 Tortas Combo @$16 add up quickly, but the food is always consistently good. If you're coming in for tacos, take advantage of the Taco Tues specials, which change up a bit but can include rice & beans or just tacos. Tortas are filling so I kept it simple with Carne Asada and Chicken. The inside is kept clean and the fridge off to the side with all the beers is always calling my name.... I resisted the last 2 trips, but not sure how long I will be able to hold off!!! Until the next time, possibly lunch in coming weeks.

But the quality of the meat made up for it. The menudo was absolutely delicious as well. The restaurant is small, but it has a very warm, family-oriented atmosphere. Service was great definitely a team effort from the cashier/hostess to the waitress. Jazmine was my waitress and she was the sweetest. Overall, I really enjoyed it and would definitely come back. Great food, great vibe, and clearly a local favorite.

You can choose either corn or flour tortillas; we opted for the corn tortillas, which were fresh and delicious. After picking up your food, there is a self-serve toppings station stocked with a variety of salsas and other garnishes, allowing you to customize each taco. Everything we tried was fresh, incredibly flavorful, and well prepared. These tasted like authentic Mexican street tacos. We visited early on a weekend evening and there was no wait. We were able to order immediately, and our food was ready after five minutes or so. If you are looking for authentic, delicious tacos in Phoenix, Taco Boy is absolutely worth a visit. The meats are fair, decent price point, and flame cooked over charcoal. For what they are, they are fine, use to be better.
