We had the steak taco dinner and Al pastor taco dinner. The steak has this great flavor from the grill char marks. Also got a side of guacamole - I asked the guac to be extra spicy and boy did they deliver! Also, the red hot salsa is AMAZING. The woman who took my order on the phone was very polite and kind on the phone. Overall an amazing experience. Hands down the best authentic tacos in DeKalb. (We have tried several places such as Flamingo's, Los burritos, burritoville). read more

My Mexican friends say it's pretty authentic but that shiznit was gross. I got a tamale and it was wrapped in a banana leaf which made the tamale taste like the stuff between my toes. I hope they keep succeeding because I support small business but I'm not going to go there again. Flamingos is where it's at. read more

Best tacos in town hands down although it takes some time to get your meal I promise it is worth it the prices are good and the staff is very friendly during your wait time read more

Love, Love, Love this place! Tacos Salsas Y Carnitas, or La Salsa , is a cozy little place that never fails to satisfy my cravings for Mexican food. The food is affordable and consistant. They have great salsa (thus the name) and make fantastic hot sauce. Last but not least, they do not skimp on the avacodos! I am obsessed with their bean and avacodo torta! Try this place and I guarantee that you'll be eating here at least once a week! read more

Let me preface this review by saying that I absolutely love eating authentic Mexican food--I make my own salsa as a hobby, I can it, I'm pretty much in a relationship with Mexican food. I've been in Dekalb just over a year, and there's only one Mexican restaurant in town that I haven't tried yet. This was my second visit to Tacos Salsas Y Carnitas, my first carry-out experience, and my last time visiting altogether. The only reason I came here is because Burritoville across the street was closed for renovations, and this was the closest place I could think of. I was really hungry and didn't want to wait. I came in at about 7:30PM on a Tuesday Night, and at the time I came in, there was a group of 3 people ahead of me in line--great, I wouldn't have to wait long! Boy, was I wrong. I placed my order easily enough, though the waitress didn't seem to write down everything I wanted in my burrito. I noticed this and repeated the order a few times and she insisted she had it down correctly. So I paid--getting scalped an extra dollar to have a couple spoonfuls of rice in my burrito, plus another $1.75 for guacamole--and stood off to the side to wait for my order. Again, remember that there were only three people ahead of me in line when I came in. I waited, I waited, and I waited some more. I waited until my feet started to hurt from standing in one place for so long. I'm pretty patient, so it wasn't for some time that I looked at the clock and realized that 20 minutes had gone by since I placed my order--a little bit disappointing, but again, I was hungry, so I kept my mouth shut and kept waiting. Finally, a total of 30 minutes after I placed my order (one burrito!), my food comes out, I get my salsa, and I go. I get back home and get ready to dig in. Now, for the burrito, it's definitely on the smaller side of what is typically served in Dekalb. The salsa is some kind of weird blended consistency, completely liquid, and opaque, neither the color of tomatoes or most chili peppers. After tasting it, the heat was good, the flavor was extremely lacking. At this point, I just want to get the burrito inside of me and call it a day. So I start eating, and of course I don't get everything I asked for in my burrito, they forgot to put in the onion and the cilantro. Overall, the flavor of the burrito is extremely bland. So, completely disappointed, nine dollars closer to being broke, and an hour of my time gone, I finish eating, throw everything in the trash, and tell myself I'll never go back there for Mexican Food again. Taco Bell is like a 3 minute drive away, and I honestly believe I would have been better off going there, instead of this place. read more

The place is great. Authentic. Great service. Super reasonably priced. Should be packed all the time, but isn't. Always a spot available.

I was very pleased with the good food and the service of this small family own restaurant. I can't wait to go back the tamales wrapped in banana leaves and the stuffed peppers are amazing. What a hidden gem. read more

I cant believe I have not reviewed this place yet. The food is great and cheap. The staff are pretty attentive and agreed it's not the cleanest, but I would rather eat there than burritoville (which is super disgusting and the food is terrible). Their salsas are very fresh and have great flavor. They have a wide range of tacos in addition to burritos, chimichangas, and sopes. read more

Some of the best Mexican we have every eaten!! Combo fajitas where just excellent!!! The horchata was excellent!!

This is by far the best taco restaurant around! I will drive as far as I have to to get food from this place!!! Everything tastes amazing. The Chorizo here is delicious! Best green salsa I have ever had. I love Mexican food and have not found anything to compare to this yet. We recently moved to Dallas where there is a ton a great Mexican food but nothing as authentic and delicious as this. Every time we come home we always come back to La Salsa for lunch or dinner!! read more

Authentic mexican, huge portions, great for the price.

I love the food here, friendly people and I love the Mexican style corn and stake tacos and I do recommend the horchata drink!! Also if your not interested in mexican they also have nachos amd burgers and fries and other american foods. read more

First review ever, After eating here at La Salsas many times, ordering a multitude of delicious meals. I felt I owed this place a good review. Best salsa I've ever had, they have 3 different kinds. The rice is even amazing!!! Some of the best chicken tacos I've ever had. Overall best Mexican food in the area read more

Friendliness ladies ever! Everything on their menu is great. Their tacos are awesome and their corn in a cup is the best in town.

I can't understand why everyone is so gaga over this place. The food tasted good, but honestly, the place is disgusting! There were poop splatters in the bathroom! Management that thinks this is acceptable in a restaurant probably has a lax definition of cleanliness, which may also apply to the kitchen where your "4 star" food is prepared. I'm just sayin'. read more

Went here based on the yelp reviews... Sadly I must say that I feel misled. The place is clean and the staff polite, but the menu is pretty limited and the chow rather bland, and the tacos are kinda dry. My wife had a Carne asada burrito; I had a asada torta, and we shared a sampling of tacos - al pastor, chicken, carnitas, cecina, and ground beef. So everything was just kind of "ok", nothing was great, but not bad - we didn't upset tummies, but weren't impressed with anything we ate either. El Burrito Loco is still the best place in town for Mexi. read more

I am a regular here, and it is consistently good every single time. To sum it up, it is way better than any Mexican restaurant in the Dekalb/Sycamore area, and it is authentic and delicious. I will be a regular even after I graduate- I love this place. read more

The food here is good and cheap! If you're looking for Mexican food by Greek Row, go here instead of Burritoville! The only downsides of this place is that it isn't as clean as it should be and it isn't open late night. read more

This place is really good for being in dekalb. The price is more then fair the staff is friendly and the food is pretty good. I always get steak tacos here which are pretty good and if you eat inside they give you free salsa which is awesome. Their salsa is delicious :D read more

We love it here. We like it so much, we can't wait to back to school and go again (we go to niu). It's "our spot" when we go out to eat. My boyfriend and I always get the taco dinner, complete with three tacos (meat of your choice - I always get chicken, he gets steak), rice, and beans. My weakness, however, is the limonada (the yellow drink in the beverage machine). The prices are also ideal, as it's only approximately $15 for us to eat here. We never leave here hungry. read more

Loveeeeee this place. It's mine and my friends absolute favorite. Really the best steak tacos and tortas in dekalb. We stick with steak tacos and tortas so I can't speak on everything else but the ladies are really sweet as well. Love the food. read more

First, it has no sign right now and was hard to find my first time there. Second, it is in a run down shady strip mall. Two strikes like that and is still open, good sign for the food. Steak tacos are great, and a huge portion of meat. Salsas are also excellent. I'm a green salsa guy, but their red is a taste changer. Get all three when you order: green, red, and they have a pico de gallo also. Three tacos,, three salsas, three unique tastes. I have to ding them for inconsistent sides, first time: great rice, gross watery beans. Second time, dry rice, average beans. Try it out, the tacos are kick ass. read more

Without question the best mexican restaurant in town. While I've had better elsewhere is quality mexican food at a reasonable price. They are off the beaten path so I think most never go past it but it's worth the trip off IL38. read more

This restaurant has been in the bussines for a while. I have been eating here since I was young and it is pretty good. I love the tacos and the people that work here. They are so nice and their food is delicious. I definitely recommend it. read more

Just in town for the day so stopped by because we love tacos. They had a wide selection ranging from lengua and cabeza to carne asada and chicken. The chicken was a little bland, but overall very good experience. Would definitely recommend it. Would have given 5 stars if served alcohol... read more

I only had the lengua and cabeza de puerco tacos here during a quick stop for lunch. The cabeza was good but the lengua was outstanding. The meat was tender and seasoned to perfection. If I lived here I would become a regular if not just for the kind, courteous staff but for lengua tacos. read more

I've been going here for years. I go for my torta al pastor (a seasoned pork Mexican sadwhich). The food is delicious and very cheap.

Very good tacos, carne-asada and salsa are excellent. Will be coming back the next time I'm in town.

Greatest Steak Burrito of my freakin life! Go here if you want cheap Mexican that's great!!

The best mexican in DeKalb, which is not saying a lot, but the green and red salsas they provide in squirt bottles with every meal make it all worth it. Great prices. Also check out the chicken in mole sauce. read more

The absolute best Mexican cuisine in dekalb. I am a little reluctant to share because it's one of the best kept secrets in dekalb. Great service and the best salsas. Get the carnitas in any form. read more

Awesome steak tacos. Salsa is super spicy but good. Rice and beans are always good. Haven't strayed from that typical order.

My husband, son and I had breakfast here recently. Chips and a very fresh and tasty salsa were brought to our table soon after we sat down. My son and I had the huevos rancheros. We both loved it. The sauce was so flavorful. My husband was very pleased with his huevos con chorizo. The corn tortillas, rice and beans that were served with our breakfast were very good. My son comes here often for the steak tacos. If I lived near DeKalb, I would be a regular here for breakfast. read more

Excellent authentic Mexican food at a low price. Restaurant is nothing fancy, yet it is very clean and comfortable. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Great place!!! read more

Totally disgusting! I used to buy from them regularly a little over a year ago. However, I stopped due to the financial struggles of being in my final year at NIU and my savings running low. I just ordered a tamale and a chicken quesadilla. The Tamale had two bones that were a little over 2 inches long in it (no meat attached and very limited meat in the tamale. Basically it was all corn meal, a few specs of meat and 2 bones. The chicken quesadilla has been switched from chunks of white meat to shredded dark meat. Their food is disgusting now. I called to complain and the only english speaking person (the dishwasher) tried to belittle me and said, "no one else ever complained, you are the only one". I explained my situation and how I almost broke a tooth on the bones, and he laughed and said "Thats just how we make them". I wish I could give this resturant negative stars. They used to be the best mexican resturant in Dekalb. Now they are among the worst in America. Stay clear unless you have false teeth and lost your sense of taste. read more

La Salsa - Bones that were half the size of a pen were in my Tamale and they laughed about it. - Mexican Near Me - DeKalb, Illinois

We did carry-out and really enjoyed the food! We ordered a taco dinner and burrito dinner. Chicken was very flavorful as were the beans. The only reason I'm giving four instead of 5 starts is because the drinks( which are included in most dinners) are from a can. Prices were very reasonable and we will definitely be having it again! read more

Best Mexican food in the Dekalb/Sycamore area. Food is always fresh, delicious and authentic! Everything tried has been great.

Went there this past weekend and I really wanted to like this place since there are really no good Mexican Restaurants in De Kalb. Sorry to say it was not a good experience. We had Nacho's and the ground beef was hard and overcooked. Hubby had Chicken Fajita's and the chicken was dry and hard with little flavor. I had beef tacos and had same experience with the meat. Son had chicken tacos and the meat was soft juicy and great(i think it was cooked fresh for the taco's) Overall experience, Waitress was friendly, food took too long,( and they were not busy) guacamole was freshly made and had no taste at all nothing had much flavor unless you overdosed it with hot sauce and i wanted to taste my tacos without a mouthful of hot sauce. I will NOT be going back here or recommending to anyone I like. read more

We have been going here for years. I have never had a bad meal! It is THE BEST mexican food in the Dekalb/Sycamore area.

Love this place! Their steak is amazing and I am very picky. Their red hot sauce is my favorite. Food wasn't messy like a lot of other Mexican restaurants present their food around here. read more
