Now a store front vs a food truck, delicious! The Alambre is a must try, and the tacos are great. Small, so don't go in a group, but you can always have take out :)

Amazing food. Authentic, delicious, not so crazy expensive. Kind staff. Cool location. I only wish I lived closer.

Taxco is more of a hipster take on this cuisine with many options for vegans and vegetarians. Of course there's plenty of available meaty items. You can find things for everyone thankfully. Came at lunch and it was pretty busy. It's not a big place meaning there's not much room inside for big crowds so it will always seem busy of course. The menu is what's big about it though. Lots of things to choose from. There's a shit ton to get here seriously. Has a section of things for vegans and vegetarians which makes it a lot easier for us to choose. There's still too much to choose from though. It's about $15 for the Char-Grilled Cauliflower Torta, which is a pretty big sandwich filled with good stuff. There's avocado, lettuce, charred pineapple, refried beans, pickled onions, and tomatoes. Also there's tacos of course. It's about $15 for the Taxco Tofu Tacos. Good and hot. These are filled with cayenne, cumin, and garlic tofu, and topped with avocado and cabbage slaw. Also there's a few other things that can be made plant based. There's enough on the menu for those wanting beef and chicken to be honest. Good place for interesting takes on Mexican food. It's closed Sundays and Mondays. There's plenty for meat eaters and a ton of options for vegans and vegetarians.

My NIU student found this place when their club needed a place for a lot of people last minute (other restaurant they had reserved couldn't do it last minute). After a great experience there for that, she's brought other family members back. I can't wait to come back and try the different margaritas

Los Rancheros is a place that has a pretty big menu of classics and specials. A lot of the typical items. The prices are kind of high but you get a lot on a plate. Could be disappointed if expecting authentic flavors. It's like a lot of the typical restaurants around here of this style. There's typical favorites like chimichangas and all that. Kind of pricy for some items. Seems the portions are big though. It's about $12 for a margarita. There's also bigger ones that cost even more but these are humongous ass ones. Food is not that bad. It's about $16 for the Veggie Taco Salad. This has broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, onions, peppers, squash, tomatoes, and zucchini. Also there's the cheese sauce and sour cream which I left off. This is also topped with guacamole, lettuce, and tomatoes. Big enough we could share it. There's a crap ton of things on the menu so you can get burritos or even seafood like scallops. Good place for getting some Americanized Mexican food. It's located in DeKalb Market Square close to Wal-Mart and other chain stores. This is maybe the most authentic one around so whatever.

My boys and I were looking for a reason to head to Sycamore for dinner from Western St. Charles so…read morethat we'd be conveniently near Ollie's for some dessert custard. After looking through some options decided to try Pub 64. My kids aren't very adventurous so they fought me a bit and wanted something they already know and like. Nevertheless, I was providing the transportation, and off we went. I had the "Not Your Momma's BLT," and my kids had a couple of Craft Burgers and a pork belly flatbread. I'm generally not generous with giving 5 star reviews, but the two kids eating the burgers (which have a heavy layer of cheese, a lot of bacon, and a fried egg on top) BOTH said that this was the best burger they had ever eaten. Seriously. These are teens and they were super impressed. The wait for the food was a tad on the long side, but the atmosphere in the restaurant was nice, with just the right amount of TV's. The waitresses were all super friendly and even entertaining to a degree. This all made the wait perfectly acceptable. It's a nice place to have to wait 5 extra mins for your food. I'll just say that. My BLT had a layer of pork belly, cooked very nicely and full of flavor, and was served with a layer of some kind of spicy mayo, which was outstanding. Honestly, it might have been the best sandwich I have had in years. It was downright amazing and had just the right amount of spice, and freshness and flavor. I can't wait to have it again. The boys both raved throughout eating their burgers. My 11 yr old couldn't finish his but wanted to bring the other half home to put in his school lunch on Monday. They both very much enjoyed their fries and I had the home made potato chips, which were very good (I don't usually like homemade chips!). My 16 yr old ordered a porkbelly Asian zing flatbread thingy that he said he very much enjoyed. I tried some of it and loved it. This joint is well worth a visit. I can't imagine someone not liking this spot. Their menu is somewhat limited, but I consider that a good thing. Although it's a somewhat smaller menu, there are plenty of things for kids and plenty of different items that look pretty good. We can't wait to go back and try it again. Considering it's the best sandwich I've had in years, and my two boys both rated it the best burgers of their lives, I can't give a rating below 5 stars! Additionally, they have a very nice selection of beer on draft. Some well known, reliable brews, and some local, craftier stuff. I was impressed. Very nice.

Best bar in DeKalb County! This is me and my friend's favorite bar to go to. Great service and fun,…read morefriendly crowd

Ah, good old Cub and Spanks…read more.. Now I've only been coming here for the past couple of months, but they fulfill a couple of requirements I require in a bar. 1) cheap drinks. And I don't mean this place is the kind of establishment that serves drinks in red solo cups, they serve them in regular plastic tumbler cups, and they're not bottom shelf garbage liquids either. A Jameson and Ginger ale will set you back a whopping $4. I feel like I'm stealing from the bar when I drink here! This is a good thing. 2) conversational level of crowd noise. This place has never been so loud that I couldn't hear the person I was sitting with, granted, we haven't come here on a Friday or Saturday night, so consider that the asterisk. I prefer a place where u don't need a bullhorn to talk to someone 3 feet away. 3) shuffleboard table. This place will always have a special place in my heart since I popped my shuffleboard cherry here on September 30th after closing out Charter Fitness. However, they've since replaced the old board with a new-fangled board with the prison bars that come up in the middle to avoid free plays, and the table is but crooked. Not that I'm a cheapskate and try to play for free, but the sand gets stuck in the holes so when you start a game, you have to manually push the bars in in order to allow your pucks to slide freely from end to end. I know, I know, #firstworldproblems 3) jukebox. Since the beginning if time, man has attempted to push forth their culture on those around them, and this is the perfect way to do it. You can even control the jukebox from your phone! Well, your smartphone at least. I don't think your Motorola StarTAC is going to help you out here, nor will your Nokia 8200. 4) regulars. You will see the same people day in day out here, whatever day of the week. They may or may not remember that you had a conversation about whatever you had a conversation about, but they're friendly. Or you can chalk it up to this place being a townie bar, but I won't call it that. Come to Cubbies, sidle up to the bar, and maybe drop a buck on a game of shuffleboard or two. If I'm there, say hello and challenge me to a game. I might show you a thing or two. Or not. I've only been playing for a couple if months...
