The food is great but warning PLEASE CHECK YOUR FOOD BEFORE LEAVING I have a family of picky eaters and there is trouble when there are too many orders. Ask them to read it back. I've had to return TWICE on two separate occasions for mistakes. And I wasn't rude, but the problem this day and age is that no one knows good customer service anymore. OMG - My new favorite $9 steak-burrito place. Steak was lean, tender and just chunky enough to be a bit pink inside. Maybe just a bit too salty. Totally worth the 20-minute trip from Sugar Grove when I'm hungry. I told everyone I know who likes big burritos. I order mine with only cheese, cilantro and onions, with limes & salsa verde. The staff here is always friendly and patient to answer questions. Their food is always fresh and the quality is consistent. I recommend all their tacos, big portions with double tortillas and you feel so happy they do it when the first one is torn apart. Too much stuff they give in a taco, so it's not a bad thing at all. Two of my favorite things are chili rellenos and California burrito - amazingly delicious!!! Chili rellenos are always fresh and full of flavors. It's the best idea to put French fries in their CA burrito. Must try!! Their soups are surprisingly good too although you would say it's not typical Mexican restaurant items. We went there for dinner.... It was very disappointing. The tacos were very scarce but prices have gone up. I understand about prices but why make them smaller. I love this place!. The food is authentic mexican food made by Mexicans. All the workers are very nice people. The place is not sofisticated nor fancy but it's always clean. The owner works just like the employees. The portions are big. Today there is a bigger reason to like and support them. Their burritos are amazing! They don't skimp on anything. They're thorough and fast, too. The only reason I didn't give these guys five stars is because during the height of the Covid pandemic - when their own policy was to wear masks in the restaurant - none of the cooks wore them and the rest had their noses exposed. Gomez and I walked out as so much was unknown about the illness at that time and we didn't want to take a chance. I wish they had taken their own policy seriously enough to not want to potentially infect their customers - or become infected themselves. read more

After always driving by for the past 3 years, I finally stopped in on a Taco Tuesday and let me tell you, the amount of food you get for such little money is astounding. I ordered some tacos only 1.25 each on a Tuesday and was expecting the small ones you normally would get but that was far from the case it was a normal one stuffed with so much ingredients they overflow when you take a bite. Their sauces are delicious they have three kinds, the typical red hot sauce, verde sauce and a third one that is vibrant green. I don't know what one it was but it was bomb. I've eaten here twice this month and will surely be back semi frequently. I definitely recommend stopping by and be warned a lot of food is coming your way. Really can't see us coming back here. The last three times are orders have been incorrect. This time, I ordered 3 Beef Tacos and 3 Tongue Tacos. When I got the order, I asked if they were marked. The response was "No, you never requested that so they are all wrapped together. Want us to open them and check?" No, if anything you should have offered to remake. The previous trip we got a burrito in stead of a torta (no even close) and before that items missing. Got home and it turned out my wife did not have to worry about getting the wrong taco since all were beef. Old, dry overcooked to boot. When they get it right, the food is OK, however these last threes trips were over a period of 4 months or so. It would appear getting the order right is no longer an option on the menu. Can't see us going back with all the other viable options in DeKalb/Sycamore. read more

I used to go here all the time. A couple months back they changed all the prices and the meals were skimpy. The owners got greedy and made it an overpriced place for very little food. $7.85 for a burrito? Plus $1 for sour cream? Are you kidding me? $2.29 for a tamale and $2.20 for a taco?!? I went yesterday and was so mad at the prices but didn't want to leave because I was hungry. I got a burrito with chorizo and it was very small compared to what it used to be (for $7.85) and almost no meat. I bit into it and spit it out because there was nothing but tortilla. The chorizo was cut in microscopic pieces and couldn't have been more than a handful. If I'm paying $7.85 for a burrito I want a whole cow inside that thing, not a small cup of meat. Food 3 stars Service 4 stars Ordered for delivery online on their website. It is a modern, slick looking page with a couple glaring exceptions; no pictures and almost no descriptions of the food. My wife thought the steak tacos were fine, and the al-pastor tacos were a little dry. Same with the enchilada. I ordered the Wet Burrito with chicken. I purposely did not check the boxes for sour cream and guacamole, because I don't care for sour cream on my Mexican food and I'm allergic to avocados. Because there are no photos or descriptions of the food, I didn't know that it came with both and the boxes were for extra of each. When I called to get it fixed, I was apologized to and told a replacement to my specifications would be at my door in 10-15 minutes. It was. The person who took my call, (manager/owner?) also delivered the replacement. Again he apologized and again explained to me how to order this meal correctly next time. Why 3 stars? The food is ok, just ok. The burrito I ordered, a giant, is gigantic, enough for two people and hard to eat. Would suggest the baby for one person. The chips are maybe a little over cooked or maybe old oil dark and tough. The salsa is good, as is the taco sauce. My wife ordered cheese fries and liked them very much. Inconsistent. The steak has had a low-grade liver taste to it lately. One time I got some form of Chicken here either in a burrito or a taco and felt kind of nauseous afterwards. The pastor tacos have always been on-point. The potato tacos are also decent. The chile relleno is also usually pretty good. The horchata is a bit sweet, probably my least favorite in De Kalb. I've eaten at Burritoville, Salsas y Carnitas, Flamingo Restaurant, Loco, and another excellent burrito joint that used to be on S. 4th and Lincoln Hwy...("Burrito #10"?). It's a tough call to say "who is the best" so I still mix it up. Loco is closest to my house and they are open pretty late but if it's before 10pm weekdays/11pm weekends I go to Flamingo Restaurant (on Pleasant and 11th)...I might have to be the first to review that sucker...
