Burrito is a pretty good size. Flavor more on the bland side I'll say 4/10

Bland flavor 4/10. In my steak burrito I really just taste rice & cheese. The horchata w/ no ice is pretty good 6/10 I also got a coconut treat. Ambiance was inviting.

Took my kids to lunch at El Faro the other day, and it is still outstanding. We got a pastor burrito, and a steak burrito. Food came out hot and fast despite restaurant being really busy with a bunch of take out orders as it was lunch time. The burritos were huge. More than enough for myself and two teenagers. The flavor of both was amazing, but for me, the pastor was the best. I highly recommend if you are in the area and looking for great Mexican food.

This place will give White Castle a run for the money on Friday and Saturday nights. Plenty of greasy tacos and burritos are more than capable of sopping up some late-night alcohol. Don't expect miracles, just a dependable friendly oasis with a menu chock full of belly-buster possibilities. No fancy diet shit, just plenty of Meat & Cheese. But rest assured, you can top anything with an egg and call it Breakfast!

My favorite Mexican eatery of all time! This place has it all folks! Great food, great prices and they're open late. I've been going to El Faro since i was in high school in the mid nineties and it very well may have been my introduction to homes-style Mexican food. I've been to many places since but no one seems to come close to the quality and deliciousness. The Portions are huge (giant gosh darn burritos!) and even the chips and salsa they give you when you dine-in are excellent. To make things even better, they're open quite late during the week and i believe for 24 hours on the weekends. So whether the bars have just closed or you just want a burrito for breakfast, I highly recommend El Faro!!!

Excellent service and food. Coming from someone who worked at a Mexican restaurant in Elgin, el faro on state has the best food in town. The shrimp fajitas are big enough for two people. Fries are crispy unlike a lot of other Mexican food places around the area. Their burritos are fantastic, not greasy. Overall great establishment.

THE BEST STEAK BURRITOS. Always delicious. Tacos are also really good. Whenever I come home to Elgin, I always have to stop by here.

Every time I have been here the place is full. Their drinks are fun. For the designated drivers and angry drunks, I've been told that most all of their signature cocktails can be made into mocktails, so you won't miss out. Their food is delicious. They have a great menu and present food well, considering this is a party bar atmosphere. Not singling out this place, but I agree with the many who complain that street tacos should not be inflated from $2 to $6, just because they are popular now. When it comes to tacos, No Manches saves itself because they have many specialty versions, like ribeye, pork belly, and even cod. In every visit, many people check in on us to make sure we're doing okay, much appreciated. Also, their salsa verde is the best of all three salsas, try to fight me on that.

That said, the live music creates a high-energy vibe, so it's not the best spot for a quiet dinner or for kids. Perfect if you're looking for flavor and atmosphere. A couple issues with our meals however the manager made sure to fix them to ensure we were happy when we left. Well done.

It's in an unassuming strip mall and has an extensive food and drink menu. Stand outs were the flaming tequila saganaki appetizer, kiddie mocktail options, and tons of hot options like Chile rellenos, tacos, elotes, and burritos. My kids didn't really like the mac and cheese (stating it was tooooo cheesy), but it looked decent and used cavatappi noodles. My $12 carnitas burrito was a great deal and enough for 2 meals. Our $100 bill covered: - a frozen mango margarita (towers, which are equivalent of 5 margaritas, are available too) - cosmo martini - saganaki appetizer lit up table side - elotes tamales - carnitas burrito - 2 kids' meals - complimentary chips and salsa - tax and 20% tip Service was extremely attentive and pleasant! Recommending this to all, and can't wait to go back when in the area! Adios!

I finally found the right time to try this place, being in the mood for a dine-in Mexican dinner…read more It's a nice place with pleasant servers, and kudos to the guy who filled my water 3 times. I was torn between a chicken mole dinner or just good old tacos. I opted for the tacos Al pastor with rice and beans. I have had Al pastor at many, many places, and it's been interesting to see people's takes on the recipes. These were, hands down, the best I've had anywhere. The meat was charred nicely, yet tender. The marinade/sauce had the perfect balance between the sweetness of the pineapple and the counterbalance of the lime, cilantro, and onion. I was so proud of my selection, that I ordered some to-go for my daughter to try. I also had a delicious strawberry margarita and finished off with a tres leches dessert. Everything was superb! I'll be back for that mole someday, and will also try their Taco Tuesday. Judging from my food, as well as the presentations of others choices that I noticed, I believe their chef is seriously talented and creative.

Casa del Pollo Asado that stays open until 9pm. I took that as a good sign and headed that way. The restaurant is pretty big with a good amount of tables and booths. It's counter service with self-serve fountain drinks and salsas. They also have beer for sale. I originally was just going to order an 8 pc of only chicken but since I had driven out I decided to make it worth my while and get the 12 pc meal. They were unfortunately out of corn as a side so I got mashed potatoes and beans. They have big TVs in one section of the dining area and a World Cup match was on. My order was ready in about 5 minutes and I'm happy to say that the roasted chicken was still steaming hot and delicious when I got it all the way back home. The salsas are all very good although I didn't get any pico de gallo because it looked pretty soggy. The beans are good and the fries are fine but the mashed potatoes and gravy could use some revamping. Also, I felt like I we didn't get very many grilled onions or chiles with our order. Those things in combination with the slightly high price is what make me not so confident I'll make the trek back to this Casa del Pollo Asado soon.
