Absolutely yes. I loved the Columbian food here. I only wish I hadn't been so tight on time. I had to scarf my food down in 15 min and take the rest home. It's a family owned, small business which I love. I always want to suppprt those. Located in the basement with a bakery above it, the location is unique. It's very colorful and festive which adds to its charm. I ordered the Bandeja Paisa and it was enormous and cost $29. Pricey, but I got 3 meals out of it. It had pork belly, columbian sausage, rice, beans, a fried egg, avocado, and a fried plantain . Gigantic portions. We also ordered empanadas and they were the star of the show. This place was great. The food was delicious. We ordered different types of empanadas, some arepas, birria tacos, a bandeja, and the kids had some fries and chicken bites. They handed us different sauces to go with our dishes, all were delicious. We loved that we could get Mexican, Colombian, and Guatemalan food in one single place. My only issue with them was that they were missing quite a few of our choice items on the Sunday we went. They did not have the mac and cheese and the carrots with corn for the kids meals. They did not have the Tamarindo Jarritos I had asked for, and they did not have agua de Jamaica or the Maracuya. We went with our Mexican and Colombian couple family. Our Colombiana said the empanadas were generous in size, since most places made them much smaller. She also mentioned that in comparison to another restaurant, Pueblo Escondido had the better empanadas. The kids enjoyed the fries and the empanadas the most. The chicken was to my liking, but a little too dry for the kids and my husband. When you enter the place, you do go down some stairs to get to the restaurant. It is a cozy little place. It also has a little panaderia at the top of the stairs, though that part seemed to be closed for that day. The ambiance was lively. Loved the music, they had UFC on the tv and they had a great spot to take some pics. Unfortunately we forgot to take advantage of the spot, but I thought like they put a lot of work into the look of the place. We went to this restaurant based on the good reviews we saw on Yelp. We asked the server for suggestions as to the best food to order and she suggested a Colombian dish which supposedly was ribeye steak with chimichurri sauce with some kind of potatoes, rice, and salad. The price was around $25. Four of the 6 people in our party ordered this based on her recommendation. We all asked for the steak to be medium rare. When the food arrived, the "steak" was way overcooked (very thin and burned), the potatoes were French fries (which the menu didn't indicate), the rice was plain white rice, and the salad had no dressing. We asked for dressing, but they didn't have any. The four of us who ordered this plate were all extremely disappointed with our choice. I have to add that the other two people with us ordered some traditional Mexican food, and they both enjoyed what they ordered, so the dinner wasn't a total bust. And the service was decent. But overall, it wasn't a great experience. read more

Everything had the perfect balance seasoned just right, portioned well, and fresh all the way through. Ordered takeout, it was delicious. We got a burrito Al pastor, Pabellon Criollo, and Bistec A Caballo. All of it was good quality and very tasty. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cool and would be nice for dinning in. Staff were friendly. read more

Definitely worth a visit. We completely forgot to take pictures of our food, but everything was delicious! We tried both the chicken and the cheese empanadas, la bandeja paisa and arroz paisa...everything was great and generous portions. Jamaica was yummy and the horchata was yummy too. Pueblito Escondido, means "Hidden Town". This is TRULY a wonderful place that SHOULD BE named "Hidden Gem" instead! I have eaten here several times and I am ECSTATIC about them! I'm Guatemalan and I haven't eaten my food is quite sometime. This restaurant has brought back memories of my childhood. The black beans even taste like the ones my grandmother would make! The service is kind and attentive and the ambience is lively (even though it's in a lower level). They have food that you don't normally find anywhere else. Even some familiar Mexican dishes! So... if you want something different and you're adventurous in gastronomy, THIS is the place for you! It's delicious NO MATTER what you eat! I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone! As we are finishing up some items in downtown Elgin, we are looking for a place for lunch and I came across this on yelp and so we took a walk to find. It has a bakery upstairs which wasn't open and the downstairs is the restaurant which was set up very well and to my surprise, they had a full bar with lots of selections. We sat down in a very comfortable booth, there was music playing atmosphere was very, very artsy and set up very well. Lots of heritage from the decor and it was a comfortable vibe. Looked over the menu ( which was broken up with different Latin specialties) ordered some empanadas which are my favorite for the appetizers and they were absolutely perfect we then for our lunch, we ordered a couple of Columbia dishes. We had some fried yucca and pork belly and then we also had a sausage with bacon, some sauces and shoestring potatoes and it was very delicious. We had a couple of drinks and the selection is plentiful. Service was fantastic. Very helpful with the menu and food came out fast and like I said the atmosphere is very very nice. We will be going back to have dinner there sometime with some friends because it looks like a very electric place. one piece of advice, if you have to use the restroom, don't wait till the last minute cause it's a little bit of a walk to get to, Just make sure you give yourself enough time. read more

While we're a bit far form the location, the food arrived well presented and warm.
