We are in Rome for a few days before our Greek Isles cruise. I got a recommendation to visit this restaurant from https://www.instagram.com/theitalianwinegirl. This is an amazing meal. Seafood focus, amazing seafood and pastas. My favorite type of Italian sparkling wine is Franciacorta. Excellent and friendly service. We loved everything we ordered. On top of this, their tiramisu is amazing. Not sure what kind of tiramisu we have in the US, but we are missing out! Amagnac is delicious. I recommend this place. Wasn't a great fit for us. I have a mild shellfish intolerance, so there are times I need adjustments to the tasting menu at a restaurant. Unfortunately, La Rosetta was not able to accommodate. It was understandable, given how shellfish heavy they said the tasting menu would be. So instead we opted for a whole Sea Bream prepared traditionally. Very simple, very fresh tasting fish. It was enjoyable, but at the same time extremely expensive for what it was. Another diner near us seemed to really enjoy the tasting menu, so I wouldn't write this restaurant off if that's what you intend to go for. Amuse-bouche and appetizers were good, though I forget the specifics. Our champagne was phenomenal. Central location in Rome is nice. Extremely close to the Pantheon, though at best some of the outdoor tables have a partial view from the side street La Rosetta is tucked away on. read more

This was our last meal in Rome/Italy and was recommended to us by a colleague of mine. We were steered right! This was hands down our best meal of our trip so we inadvertently saved the best for last. We ordered the four course tasting menu and every dish was fantastic. A summary of our meal is below with a blow by blow for each dish. My girlfriend stuck to water but I ordered the wine pairing and they recommended some fantastic pairings for my meal! If you are in Rome this is a must have dinner! The chef and owner Massimo was very friendly and gracious enough to allow for a photo together at the end of our meal. I don't know how else to say this was amazing without repeating myself from here haha. As our friend advised us, this is one of the world's greatest seafood restaurants. It's not a large place, but beautifully done. Modern art, all fish related, is everywhere. The dark cherrywood preparation area, out for everyone to see, is outstanding. On arrival we were shown the evening's offerings, on ice or live in the tank. Beautiful seafood! Then we started with complimentary champagne. . I had four courses of seafood. All were fabulous. I started with raw langostine with lemon and sea salt. They were extremely tender, melt-in-your-mouth delicate, and fresh tasting, with just a hint of the salt. Next was seared tiny pieces of calamari with pieces of eggplant and a sour mint sauce. This dish grew on me. The eggplant didn't overwhelm the tender calamari, but the mint gave an occasional kick. It was very pleasant - no texture contrasts and lots of delicate flavor. The two main courses I had the chance to try were a wild sea bass fillet with crispy prawn and string beans, and red mullet fillets. The sea bass was as fresh, flaky, and tasty as I've ever had. Another melt-in-your-mouth dish. The "crispy prawns" were totally unique - large prawns with a coating of long delicate crunchy something I can't name. Like birds nest material. No real flavor, just a great crunch and texture contrast with the delicious giant prawns. For wine we had a Sardinian white, which stood up very well to the seafood. This was an outstanding meal, wonderfully served, in a very pleasant atmosphere. Although I've had similarly great pieces of fish, I've never had four such fabulous courses together at once. This is a definite destination restaurant for seafood lovers. read more

Disappointing experience... Especially to do with the service.. For a restaurant that charges prices this high I expect to be treated better! We were welcomed well and got a nice table. The sommelier was a cheerful, patient and helpful guy. Unfortunately he didn't fill our glasses as attentively as he should have done... We had to ask for his service several times. At least he was nice and friendly! The man that took our orders for the food was less patient. He was rushed, looked grumpy and was not polite. When we asked him whether the red shrimps were a specialty for the south of Italy (as someone had told my partner) he hardly responded. No answer... (And this was not a language thing as I spoke Italian to him.) I had to repeat the same question to one of his colleagues later on... Sigh... I was eating scamponi (they were good!) and my hands got rather dirty.. No surprise really ;) again, I had to ask for someone to bring something to clean my hands with... Double sigh... We complained to the manager. He didn't seem to care at all. He quickly had us served champagne and looked all understanding, but he barely took the time to properly listen and do something about this. The alcohol had to do the trick... Triple sigh... Such a shame! They should really improve their service... My food was good but too expensive for what I got... 20 euro for a nice but not too special dessert?! I won't go back... read more

Just the best. This is an institution, an establishment that has been running impeccable business for years. I've recently been back and it was amazing as always. Lovely place, chic but not pretentious, attentive service, yet not smothering. Amazing wine list and a great sommelier who helps you navigate it without trying to impose an awfully expensive bottle. And the food.... If you like octopus, grilled polipo is what you should have. Crudi are incredible: sea bass carpaccio with orange and ginger is terrific. And if you feel a little adventurous, go for the cacio e pepe with prawns. You're in for a pleasant surprise.. Make sure you like some room for the pistachio creme caramel or house tiramisu. This was our very first meal in Rome and it was the absolute BEST since our arrival into Italy! We called for an rsvp and got an 8pm seat. As soon as 9pm came around, the place was packed! In our short experience in Italy, we learned not to expect a speedy service, but to sit and enjoy the wine and ambiance. I ordered a salad which I thought was asparagus, but later found out that was chicory hearts. It was the most delicious simple salad I have ever had....especially since it was in an anchovy sauce! Superb! My main course was a giant plate of seafood; lobsters, longastino shrimp and prawns! It was a lot of protein but I totally inhaled everything and even put some of the seafood in my salad....tasted great! The dessert was wonderful. We got the chocolate cake and boy was the portion generous!!! I MUST come back here!!! And YOU MUST try LaRosetta if you love seafood!! read more

Looking for this place we almost missed it. There is a nice display of fresh fish in the window. We were welcomed in by a very kind host and seated in a relaxing dining area that was lit just right and had a very distinguished decor. We started with a grilled octopus that was flavorful and very tender. From there the wife and I split and I went to a lobster pasta while the wife had the crab ravioli. Mine was done well. The ravioli was a bit dry but still good. For desert I had Chocolate moose while my wife had tiramisu. Both were exceptional and the desert wine they had with it was perfect. LANGOUSTINE CRUDO. Exquisite. Perfectly seasoned, delicate and sweet. The Zuppe di Pesce was also wonderful, a balanced blend of clam, mussel, cuttlefish, octopus, and flaky white fish. The broth you can tell was carefully tended, infusing all the seafood, yet not over powering. The staff was helpful and fun, and the restaurant itself small, clean and had a great atmosphere. Stay away! How do they get away with this? We spent a small fortune on dinner for four that was so mediocre and the service so upsetting that it was almost surreal. Our waiter felt compelled to frequently interject his opinions in our conversation, state his disapproval for what ever we were discussing and generally be insulting. The service was so poor that we are still in disbelief. What about the meal? Very little variety in the appetizer portion of the menu. I must apologize right off the bat to La Rosetta, because I actually feel that my only giving five stars is a disservice. La Rosetta, imo, actually deserves better than this for a couple of reasons. First off, the black squid ink pasta was outrageous, I am not sure if it is a part of their regular menu anymore, but try requesting and see what happens. You will not be disappointed, it was as fresh as can be. For me though, the real highlight was the dessert, which was the zabaglione. Not only was it the best zabaglione that I have ever had (good luck finding a comparable in the states), but it was easily one of the top three best desserts I've ever had, period. I went here with my Dad, and after finishing we both looked at each other in hopes that they would provide us each with a to go bucket of zabaglione... Go to La Rosetta and follow my path of culinary euphoria, you owe it to yourself to experience the best parts of Rome, and this place is certainly one of them. read more

My wife and I opted for the chef's tasting with wine pairing, which included around 24 different food preparations with 6-8 excellent wines. The tasting and wine pairing was expensive but did seem like a fair price for the quality and quantity of the food and wines. The tasting came with an impressive array of raw and cooked seafood preparations and was finished by four desserts. One of the raw plates had a langostine head attached to its peeled tail with salmon roe, which was very tasty. In any event, after my wife ate her langostine tail, the legs attached to the head started moving, which is merely to say that we can attest to the freshness of the seafood. All in all, La Rosetta was a special treat with simply exquisite seafood. read more
