    Some garlic for the side.
    Steven M.

It was our last night in Rome and we needed to find a nice place to enjoy some dinner and we narrowed it down to Vinando. This cool little restaurant is located down some small cobblestone streets and offers both indoor and outdoor seating but thanks to us having a group of 7 we ate inside but had a beautiful view of the outside right next to us. The waiter during our visit was super friendly and even offered some recommendations to those of us that couldn't decide what to eat. Like most restaurants in Italy they served us some delicious garlic bread before our mail came and it was top notch. For my main course I decided to go with a lasagna since I have somehow managed to not eat any since I landed a few days ago. The lasagna was absolutely delicious and surpassed what I was expecting. The cheese was delicious, the meat was delicious, and the pasta itself was delicious as well. Overall, I absolutely loved my trip to Vinando and would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an incredible meal in Rome. Do yourself a favour and come here!

After a long morning of walking to different monuments around Rome, I turned to Yelp to guide us to a nearby lunch spot. My search led us to Vinando and I am so thankful it did. Located on a side street where cars don't regularly pass by, Vinando is a restaurant and wine bar that has inside and outside seating. It has a pretty view of a vine covered building as well. Everything that came out from the kitchen to other guests tables and ours looked incredible. My fiancé and I started our meal with Mussels and Clam which were as equally delicious as they were beautiful. I enjoyed the Cacio e Pepe served in a Parmesan encrusted bowl while my fiancé enjoyed a salad with chicken and the meatballs. He said they were the best meat balls he's ever had and that the sauce was to die for. They served the check with a couple biscottis pieces which was a nice touch. Yelp never lets me down! Dine here. It is absolutely divine.

I was visiting from Atlanta, Georgia and I ate here twice because the food and service was so good! The first day I had lasagna which was hands down one of the best I e ever tasted! The second visit, I had seafood risotto which didn't disappoint! The servers were witty, attentive and delightful! I highly recommend this restaurant to visitors! You won't be disappointed

Off of the beaten path, we came upon a great little place Vinando. Since it wasn't in the high touristy areas, it had a very peaceful setting for us to enjoy our drinks. They offer a nice outside seating area. Just because we were outside didn't affect any service. They were great about checking on us as we found ourselves ordering more than just one drink. The caffe latte hit the spot for me. They were also kind enough to include some biscotti as a treat! They were very kind to these foreigners. It's definitely a great little place for coffee. Grazie!

I absolutely loved this place. I don't think we would have happened upon this place unless our Airbnb was located 20 steps away. It's located in Piazza Margana which is a very small piazza - pretty much 2 restaurants and some apartments/living quarters. The best thing is that it is out of the way of the hustle and bustle of everything. For that dinner moment, I almost felt as if I was living like the locals do. Granted two young girls spoke english at the table behind us and there was english translation on the menu.... but at least it felt like it. Carpaccio di Spigola agli agrumi (sea bass Carpaccio in citrus sauce) - ordered based on the rec of another yelper. Clean taste. Not fishy. It had it's own citrus on top but I also squeezed extra from the slices on the side. Spaghetti Alici e mollica (spaghetti with anchovy and soft part of bread) - before you say what?! This was pretty good. The waitress warned it really tasted like anchovies. I hesitated back and forth before finally deciding why not? when in Rome! First bite - even w/ warning was still a shocker. The anchovy wasn't whole or cut up like on pizza - it was mixed in the sauce and evenly mixed throughout the pasta. The soft bread wasn't soft bread really at all but a lot of toasted crumbs on top that added a really nice crunchy texture. The pasta was perfectly al dente. And to be honest...The fishy flavor seemed less harsh each bite after. Either my palate got used to it... or maybe it was the few sips of wine in between... Still beware - you must really like anchovies... Orecchiette - so the exact one my husband ordered is not on the menu online so I can't tell you the name. It was the ear shaped pasta tossed in red wine and onions and pancetta. By far this is my fave meal out of all the ones I had in Italy this trip. It was pretty much absolutely delicious and I wish I could have it again as I write this. The red wine sauce thinly coated the ear shaped pasta but was enough to give a delicious flavor. It was different than I expected and had a slight hint (but perfectly enough) tartness to it. All of this sat on a perfectly crisp and not overcooked Parmesan cheese crisp. I even asked for another half order after I finished the anchovy dish and ate it all by myself. Saltimbocca alla Romana (steak of veal with ham and sage) - veal was thin and tender. The sauce had good flavor, maybe a bit salty but still good. Service was great, food was wonderful, location was awesome. If I stayed in this area more than one night, highly likely I would have returned.

    Squid ink risotto, very tasty!

My husband and I looking for a place to eat lunch and saw this tucked away little restaurant. We didn't want anything too busy so this was perfect plus luckily for us it was delicious. I ordered the squid ink risotto, which was tasty and the cheese (which I wasn't too sure about at first) in the dish just made it creamy and yummy. My husband ordered the bolognese pasta and a second course of meatballs. He loved the meatballs and said he didn't even need the pasta. (We had been in Italy for over a week at this point so we had had our fair share of pasta.) We shared grilled veggies and it was all very good. I did see another table order the calamari steaks. It looked amazing. Must try it the next time I find myself in Rome!

Ate lunch here on a rainy day and we found this place very friendly and warm. It feels exactly how a small restaurant in room needs to feel. I can only say "wow" the food is amazing. We had pizza and I tasted some of all the ones we ordered. Great food and service. Highly recommend you stop in when you are around.

Ahhh I hate to drop the review here.... Whenever we travel, we try to avoid the touristy restaurants as they are overpriced and I just feel like they are not as authentic. We wanted good pasta and the reviews of other Yelpers seemed great so we gave this place a try. First of all, service was great! Very attentive staff and they speak some English. Food came out in a timely matter and everything seemed great. Our Cold Cut Meat was delicious.... But it is literally thin slices of meat so I guess you can't really go wrong there. However the pasta was SUPER bland. Omg, it was the worst we had in our Italy trip. There was absolutely no wow factor. Quit disappointing..... +1 star for the decor....

10:45pm After a night time Colosseum tour (Highly recommended) we strolled into a nearby restaurant. Waiter:"Do you have reservation?" Us: "No" Thought Bubble: "Crap! We're not going to get a meal tonight!" Waiter: "I have the perfect table for you, one moment please." We are then seated at an open window table overlooking the little piazza. Thought Bubble: "This is perfect, it couldn't happen any better way....On our anniversary no less!" ~LET THE ORDERING BEGIN~ - Bottle of Prosecco - Fusilloni Carbonara e Zucchine Fusilli Carbonara Style - Acciughe con Insalata Balsamico e Rucola Caramellata Anchovies with Caramelized Balsamic and Arugula Salad - Tortino Pere e Nocciola con Cioccolato Bianco Fuso Pear and Hazelnut Cake with Melted White Chocolate - Tiramisù Everything was extraordinary with the Anchovies and Pear Hazelnut Tart taking the spotlight. - Anchovies: Probably the most harmoniously balanced dish of our trip. The salinity of the Anchovies balanced with the acidity of the balsamic with a slight bitterness from the arugula with a touch of sweetness from the shaved carrots on the side. - Pear Tart: Made in house this was a masterful dessert. Normally this is nothing I would've ordered but the wife insisted and I'm glad she did. Her words "I think this is the best dessert I've ever had!"

Stop by this restaurant on my way to ancient Roma. Pasta is mediocre, but I do like the pizza. And also service is just okay. Will recommend other restaurants.

Potato Flan with Speck and Mushroom

Not easy to find a restaurant opened after 3pm in Rome, most restaurants close around 3pm. But we were lucky to run into this lovely gem with attentive and friendly service and excellent Italian dishes with reasonable pricing. The restaurant had a nice charm to it. It's filled oak cabinets of wine, lush reds and formal dressed staff conveyed a more formal dining setting although prices were very reasonable. Hidden around the back of the some streets it seems like a place that would be visited by the locals more often. Service was excellent when we went. The waitress was very kind to help us recommend a few dishes and all with patience and a smile even though she had trouble understanding my fast paced English. My fault really. Potato Flan with Speck and Mushroom This was a lovely start. It was fluffy like a baked potato but the addition of egg in it gave it that creamy bouncy texture. The cheesy herby sauce on top made it the ultimate comfort food, packed full of flavour, rich thick and creamy. Pumpkin flower stuffed with buffalo ricotta and basil One of the freshly addition I've had in the whole of Italy. It was incredible and light although deep fried. Behind the fresh fried light batter was a delicate pumpkin flower stuffed a oozing amount of creamy ricotta. The texture was amazing and very satisfying to bite into Pizza Capricciosa Pizza isn't their speciality here. The base, especially the crust was quite hard and crispy crust rather than doughy making it quite hard to eat. The dried floury taste against the other flavours so was probably best to leave behind. Egg white was lost somewhere but the runny yolk made a lovely creamy impact. I found the seeded olives quite disruptive too, the continuous need to spit out the seeds. The mozzarella cheese however was, generous, stretchy and the tomato sauce light and refreshing. The Parma ham was fresh and not too salty. Save your pizza for a pizzeria. Tonnarelli with scampi and zucchini carbonara style This was pretty good. Covered in a yolky buttery sauce making the consistency thick and creamy. Freshly chopped tomatoes to lighten the flavour, although lacked umami. The courgettes were cooked till melting soft consistency adding new earthy flavours whilst the scampi provided new textures. The dish could have had a bit more complexity to it but it was still very enjoyable and a light dish. Veal with orange sauce/white wine/lemon sauce The veal was succulent, incredibly tender and seasoned perfect, The sauce itself was delicious. I'm so used to that synthetic tangy orange sauce in Chinese restaurants that it was a nice surprise to have something so full of complexity and rounded in flavour with nice notes of the wine, sweetness and a bit of zest. Nice recommendation from the waitress. Vinando shines in it's freshness and use of high quality ingredients. Dishes are also creative and not just the classic Italian dishes. It's a pretty reliable choice although not all it's dishes produce a fine result or the greatest in flavour. I suppose it's hard to be good at everything if you have such a varied menu. But it's nice relaxing atmosphere makes up for it, with staff that looks over you well

Gnocchi with bacon and mushrooms (black truffles?)

Super solid tasty food restaurant with good presentation, good value, and no lines because it's in a side alley. Definitely push for outside seating! I stopped by here twice because the food was that good and it's very conveniently located near the piazza Venezia. The only problem is the service, which is honestly about on par with any other Italian restaurant although I had the stark contrast of dining at several Michelin star restaurants before this where after you put your fork down for a few seconds after finishing a plate, someone comes to clean up your space and give you new silverware. To get any service here you have to really flag down a waiter and heaven have mercy on you if you have multiple questions because they will answer one question, then run off to do something else! Wait time between each request is easily five minutes even when they aren't busy. To get: sea bass carpaccio, grilled calamari, gnocchi with bacon and mushrooms (truffles?)

Sea bass encrusted with fried potatoes
    Cindy R.

The wine list is extensive. They offer both bottles or by the glass pricing. The food was freshly prepared and delivered at hot temperatures. Yeah! The sea bass was encrusted with a fried potato crust that was intoxicating! The handmade lasagna was the best I've ever had! We would have ordered more, especially dessert, but our waiter never came back. We finally went to the bar and asked to pay when they closed!

We ordered sea bass fillet rolled in zucchini and honey mushrooms. Fish was tender, soft, and delicious with great seasoning. We also ordered Ravioli with white truffles and it was delicious as well. Ravioli tasted like it was freshly made and it tasted great with truffles. Lastly, we got tiramisu for dessert. This tiramisu was prepared by an artist. Just by looking at the dish, it was very pretty to look at. It was presented on a beautiful plate with thin chocolate cookie on top with sugar decoration and underneath was a creamy white tiramisu. I loved this dish because it was unique dessert with great sweet flavor and great presentation. The service was excellent. Everyone was friendly with great attitude and they are attentive. I think they liked the look on my face every time they brought out the dishes because their presentation was great. Whoever was the Chef that night, I would give him or her an award. We opted for the Roman-style cuisine tasting menu with wine pairings. The service was warm and welcoming, and the ambiance was quiet and romantic. I appreciated the decor, especially the various wine bottles displayed throughout, and I also liked the dishes the food was served on. That said, this restaurant leaned a little too "foodie" for my taste. I also discovered that I really dislike truffles! My husband, on the other hand, enjoyed everything--including my leftovers. The wines were fantastic across the board. I also want to mention the pricing was shockingly affordable for what we got at dinner, which again, included the wine pairing. If you consider yourself a foodie and enjoy creative, thoughtfully prepared dishes, Ristorante Ad Hoc is worth a visit.

Pane e Salame, however, was delicious!!!! On our first day in Rome, my husband and I decided to search for a lunch spot nearby (we were staying near the Trevi fountain), and I found this place had pretty good reviews. We got there about an hour after it opened and requested a seat outdoors. They have a tiny patio across from their entrance, but they fit quite a bit of people in it! We initially wanted to order two sandwiches to try more items, but I'm glad we just shared one - they were big and filling! We also had the small charcuterie board to share which was plenty of food for us both. We shared a bottle of rose, and all in all, we paid under $50 (usd) - what a steal! This was the perfect first meal in Rome. The food was incredibly fresh, the service was great, and the outdoor seating allowed us to experience the streets of Rome. 10/10 - would absolutely go back.
