Absolutely amazing meal from start to finish. Each course was impecable and the staff was very friendly.

The service was terrible. The waitress never asked us what we wanted to drink, eat, or came to us at all once we sat down. It was clear the racism was loud because everyone near was served even those that sat down after us. Ditta Trinchetti was one of my favorite meals in Rome! The menu is very vegetarian friendly and I tried a tomato and burrata special, cacio e Pepe, roasted chicory, and eggplant Parmesan. Everything was delicious but my favorite dish was the cacio e pepe. Service was quick and helpful and if the weather allows it would definitely recommend sitting outside to soak in the ambiance of the area. This restaurant caught my attention because they have a sign that claimed this is not a touristy place. Duh! Got me! Indeed, this turned out to be what I consider a true Italian restaurant: the waitress spoke no English, so my little knowledge of Italian was very handy there. She also seemed to have an attitude, and service in many Italian places left much to be desired (God bless America!). For my last meal in Italy, I ordered a board of cold cuts with cheeses, bread (for which I paid separately!) and a beer. My bill was €23. The variety of meats and cheeses was ok, although I would anticipate a larger board for the price. It's bread that cost me €1 what ticked me off. In the past 2 weeks in Italy, I paid for water, but never for bread. Other reviewers mentioned that this restaurant was trendy and unique, but I did not find it that was at all. Super cute and cozy atmosphere and incredibly delicious food! We stumbled upon this place trying to avoid the tourist traps in Trastevere and boy did we luck out! We were seated immediately and our waitress was very kind and attentive. For starters, we got the burrata with anchovies and endive, which was incredible! The half litre of house wine was also very great, totally worth it. For entree, we got the salmon, which was to die for, and the gnocchitini with asparagus and calamari, also super tasty. For dessert, we got the tiramisu, and even though I'm not usually one for sweet things, this was so flavorful, I loved it! Incredible place, great vibe, super tasty food!! read more

This is a beautiful and romantic restaurant. Very hip and cozy. This is what drew us in for our last dinner in Rome! The restaurant is very narrow and doesn't have too much seating available. My girlfriend and I ordered to share: Agnello Alla Cacciatora - Lamb with garlic, rosemary and wine served with potatoes. - This was disappointing. I didn't taste the garlic, rosemary or wine. In fact, it was super greasy and just tasted like oil. The meat was also very dry. It was definitely overcooked but a good portion. Fettuccine Fatte In Casa Al Ragu Di Carne - Pasta with meat sauce. - This was good and fresh. But the portion was tiny, especially for the price. Carciofo Alla Romano - Roasted artichoke. - This was good but again very oily and greasy. Prices were a little higher than your standard places. However, the house white wine we ordered (1 liter) was actually a really good deal. (8 euros) Service was good and fairly quick. The restaurant is really just about the ambiance. In A Nutshell: -Ditta Trinchetti was such a FUN adventure to find. -It's snuggled in the modiva (nightlife) area of Rome called, "Trastevere", amongst the tiny & crowded mini-alleyways. -The restaurant is small and local, which makes it great & I haven't even mentioned the food and service yet. -The service is very good, attentive & authentic Italian. -We ordered the Linguini w/ Clams. -We loved the noodles as they are cooked slighty hard/chewy, the sauce was just enough to coat & the clams I commented on by asking, "did you just catch these out back?". EXCELLENT DISH: best ever. -The cold cuts were a bounty full of the best thinly sliced meats. You get A LOT! Another must!! -They also have wine and IPA & other craft beer. My wife and I were looking all over Trastevere for the perfect restaurant and landed here after some 30 minutes of walking around. It was the perfect place for us by far. The burrata and anchovies appetizer was incredible as where our pasta and fish dishes. The service and ambience are what really did it for us. The place seems to bring fresh blood to an oversaturated sea of restaurants. It was neither a tourist place nor an old Italian only one. It was cute and perfect inside, giving prime location to dinner guests. Highly recommend! read more

This is our 2nd time here and we couldn't pass up an opportunity to check it out again. -We love the decor- it's super quaint. -The service is wonderful! - Food was strong- at our table we started with some bruschetta and the grilled pecorino cheese with honey- wow! I saved this business card to write a review and never got around to it. Found it tonight as I was packing boxes to move and had to write this. It was my first time in Rome. I ate at several places, and wanted something really special. It's not easy to tell what places are going to be great. So I decided to keep looking until I found a place that was really well designed and decorated. If the food was at least average, at least the surroundings were artistic. Loved the staff, the service was personable and excellent and it was the best food that I had on my trip. You know how the meal can be excellent, but the dessert is just ok? Went here because it seemed different than all the touristy restaurants on the block. Many of the better restaurants were closed for August holiday. Settled here and we were disappointed. Service was awful and portions were very small for the price. Food was decent, but nothing to write home about. read more

If you find yourself in the Trastevere and hungry for lunch in a non-touristy place, definitely wander over to Ditta Trinchetti. This sweet little osteria is a huge find. There's a homey, cozy feel to the place. The decor is charming and warm. The service friendly. The meal was excellent and a good value. My husband liked it so much he insisted we walk there on our last day all the way from the Colosseum just so he could have the burrata again (it is, truly the best I've ever tasted). Like those tiny West Village restaurants in NYC that become a sort of second kitchen for its customers, Ditta Trinchetti it is one of those places you want to return to again and again. read more

My wife and and I stumbled in off the street drawn in by its buzz and what appeared to be a cute restaurant from the outside. It was full and the only table available was adjacent the busy kitchen. What at first seemed a misfortune turned into the most enjoyable dining experience. Aside from being able to watch the kitchen in action (it was all good), the parade of food being picked up and walked by our table was truly inspiring. The waitresses were happy to provide commentary and description. There were many things I'd like to come back and try. We had a baked cheese with walnut and truffle honey, rocket salad, traditional cannelloni and a long noodle with amatriciana sauce, sharing all between us. Though generally saltier than my personal taste ( I use less salt than most) the food was terrific. We finished with a shared tiramisu, coffee and tea. The staff were friendly and helpful, though typically roman and less attentive than we experience back home. The kitchen staff appeared very focused, paying attention to the detail of all the meals being prepared. If you're looking to break away from the standard tourist fair so abundant in Rome, I'd recommend this place. read more

Great place with delicious food. We had burrata, fried pecorino and bruschetta for starters. So good!!! The burrata is huge, so two people can easily share it. I had the polenta with pork for main course, and it was great. Well cooked and seasoned and just so yummie. The tiramisu was a little bit too sweet for me, but I'm picky on tiramisu on the other hand. One of my friends had the cheesecake and it was to die for. The service was great too! read more

This came recommended by a friend. The pros are: pleasant interior and ambiance and a good menu. The cons are: loud music, my lamb, while tender, was clearly reheated because it was cold in the middle, the house wine was not so good, and our host was not as kind as the Ecuadorian staff. The food was good but unfortunately the service left much to be desired. All the waiters were really grumpy and we felt very unwelcome. After finishing the main course we would've wanted to order dessert but couldn't get anyone to serve us. All the waiters just completely ignored us. Finally we ended up waiting for service for 1 hour and 15 minutes. When we finally got the waiter's attention we complained about having to wait for so long. We didn't get any apologies nor any kind of compensation for poor service and on top of everything the waiter was rude to us. Definitely one of the worst customer service experiences ever! read more
