This was hands down the best restaurant I visited in Rome. The pasta was absolutely perfect. We started with the beef filet carpaccio served with rocket and parmesan, alongside the Tris di Bruschette with Truffle. For our mains, we had the truffle tagliolini and lobster pasta, both executed flawlessly. The texture of the pasta was spot-on--firm yet tender. This great place just off Piazza Novana grabbed our eye as we were searching for an earlier lunch than yesterday. When we waited too long and the choices became more and more scarce. We sat outside under the tented patio where they thankfully had heaters running. Probably our best meal of the trip to Rome so far, and they have set the bar high for what's to come. The service is great with the wait staff wearing smart uniforms and taking care of your needs, quickly and with a smile on their face. My carbonara was excellent, if a tad on the firm side, which I am learning is the norm in Rome, and throughout Italy. The guanciale is traditional here and it really adds to the dish. We use it at home too, so nice to see it included here. The lovely K had the minestrone soup which you could tell spent a lengthy time developing the excellent flavour that it possessed. There were a bunch of men of the cloth inside having lunch when we arrived, and if it's good enough for them, it should be a great choice for all. The washroom upstairs are pretty interesting as well, but I'll let you discover that yourself. There are also two private rooms upstairs if you are looking to host a group. read more

We loved Osteria dell'Anima! We went twice!! Great staff--they all work together and take care of all the customers. Our server was Fabio and he was the best. Attentive without hovering, able to anticipate our needs. Three times we were about to ask him for something when he came over to us, he had it in his hand!! We came here based on a recommendation froma friend who ended up coming here twice during her time in Rome. She, and everyone else, seems to rave about the pear pasta. One street over from the Piazza Navona, it is in a very touristy area, but doesn't appear to be one of the usual trap restaurants that you find all over Rome. We were seated outside at a nice table. We started with a meat and cheese plate, which was pretty good. After that, we both went with the pear pasta based on recommendations and reviews. Yummm! One of the best meals I've had in Rome thus far. Sometimes, you just gotta go with your gut feeling while walking around in these highly touristy area and cross your fingers that it's not a tourist trap. A few good clues for those without Yelp: no one desperately hounding you to eat at the restaurant, somewhat filled tables instead of an empty room of bored employees, and the people in the restaurant look relatively happy. We saw a few happy couples seated through the window so decided to try it out! Service is good and attentive. Menu is easy to order from and understand so you won't be caught off guard. I hadn't tried a pesto pasta dish in Italy so I wanted to get it at least once. The pesto was full of flavor and tasted even better when topped with the Parmesan cheese! Seemed like a lot at first because it was a little bit heavy, but I finished it, no problem. For dessert, I got the Black Truffle Affogato...which was exactly what I was craving. Perfect balance of bitter and sweet with the espresso working flawlessly with the truffle. Definitely check out this place if you're in the Piazza Navona area! read more

Stopped by here at around noon, and the restaurant was completely empty. However, it soon filled up with locals and tourists alike for the delicious food. I highly recommend the fritto calamari and antipasto italiana, which is a board of salumi and cheeses. All you could taste was the fried dough, very disappointing. At the table we got the prosciutto pizza, the prosciutto was good but the rest was not memorable. There are so many pizza pasta restaurants through the city having much of the same menu items but I will say this place had a few different options not seen at some of the neighboring spots. I have been here twice in the last five years, and both times it exceeded expectations. Especially worthy in a location that offers a few tourist traps. The interior is quite large enough to hold a large number of guests. The outside puts you on a small street with folks ambling along for a night in Roma. Hands down the best food I've had in Rome after being here a week. The spaghetti with pesto (house/handmade) was an exquisite balance of subtle flavors. I never lick the plate and didn't here, but when pasta was consumed I did fork up the remaining pesto sauce. I also had the bruschetta option where you get to try three of their four brushcettas: with tomatoes and olive oil, with artichokes, and with olive patte. Olives are not my favorite, but the tomatoes and artichoke versions were mouthwatering. Even the olive patte was flavorful. I came here on a recommendation from a colleague and would absolutely recommend it to anyone. I came around 6:00 when they weren't busy and was the only one seated outside for a while. I asked about that, and combined with their upstairs. The Romanian waiter said they had 110 people booked for dinner tonight. I don't doubt it. The service was fantastic, everyone friendly. Just had dinner at this place, food was good but we had a terrible experience with service, the bring only half of the order and took ONE HOUR AND A HALF to bring the rest. We had lo leave and some of us had not eat anything, they just said there was a confusion. They offer a discount equivalent to the service charge but still we had a terrible experience at this place.
