Donuts! - Two donuts are on a decorative plate; one has pink icing with colorful sprinkles, the other is plain with sugar.

I got some freshly made donuts and tortillas here today. They were both very good. And the ladies were very nice. Good price too! A+

The staff is great. All the ladies that are working are always super nice, helpful and friendly. They have a variety of pastries and sweet bread and it's always very good and fresh. They also sell homemade tortillas for $6 per dozen which is great for the quality. They offer red and green shredded beef burritos for $5 as well. I also enjoy when they put out holiday themed items. I believe they also sell tamales but I have yet to try those. Everything tastes very authentic and you can tell it's made fresh. You can even see them making the tortillas at times too. All their items always look colorful, fun and appetizing. Love coming here!

This bakery has been a staple for my family for years. I remember as a kid going to the original location in Glendale super early to make sure we got there in time to get what we wanted before they ran out. Times have changed and you don't have to worry about volume as much. This location is super close to my house and I love it. They bake their Mexican pastries fresh each day and are quality. Soft, flaky, flavorful depending on your choice. If you haven't had the green chili burrito I'd recommend that as well. The last time I had it, it was a little bit "small", so I would say get two. When I buy flour tortillas I get them here. They are medium size and cooked just enough so you can take them home and throw them on the comal, flame or however you cook yours.

Great selection of baked goods, got lucky with a short line and professional service! Today is their 42nd anniversary in business - so I extend my congratulations! Thank you for the bakery stickers and canned soda - happy California visitor!

I can say I'm officially obsessed with this bakery! I just moved right down the street and I find myself going a couple times a week! You just try the green chile burritos!!! The tortillas are perfection. Pork, potatoes and salsa are soooo tasty! I usually get 2-3 to have one the next day! Everytime I've gone in I try a new pastry but I've had a strawberry cake that was delicious! A cheese pastry, and pineapple. Everyone who works there is so friendly and helpful! It's just a small bakery off Indian school and I'm so glad I was told about it! Must try!!!

Ok so my good buddy Joe would pick me up these tortillas several months back for like $4, now $6. They were so good. He said they became to expensive to pick up he has a large family. So not here it's just me, had been craving those flipping tortillas. They are so good you can just heat them & eat them. Don't do like I do put butter & honey on them . Thank you Jesus they gave my taste buds new life. Ok let's get to today, so my friend gave me the name he lives in Avondale, I'm in central Phoenix. I Yelp the name, what to my wandering eyes appeared they have a location like minutes from my crib. Shut the front door, I'm getting my tortillas. But he didn't tell me it was a beautiful Mexican bakery. They have burritos, tamales, tortillas, Mexican cookies, bread, and cake. The green chili burrito OMG $5 bucks little but mighty flavor. I got a couple deserts very good. I'm stopping tomorrow I now have to try the red burrito & I'm curious about their Tamales. I haven't found any good tamales in a while. Gabby behind counter cool and funny.

I am sad I have to wait to go back to get their Rosca de Reyes bread. I should've got the biggest size they had and a mini one. It was the best bread I've had. The bread was flavorful and soft. We also got concha's, jello domes and other types of pan. The prices were also very reasonable. The bakery was pretty busy when we went on a Sunday morning. This place also makes fresh tortillas. It's a nice local bakery we'd love to visit again when we are in the area.

Omgeee, best conchas AKA pan de huevo I have ever had!! So fluffy and soft and moist just wow! The Glendale location has impeccable service. The ambiance is nothing fancy but this is a classic Mexican bakery with fresh homemade staples made with love!

Went to the other branch on my last trip to Phoenix and couldn't leave this time without getting some more Mexican baked stuff. Much smaller outlet then the original store but definitely the same good quality product! No lines at all, so the person working there was able to describe everything we wanted to know about. Peach Empanada was amazing! Filling was not too sweet, and kinda felt too little at one point, but the crust totally made up for it! Flaky and suddenly sweet and went really well with the filling. I would totally be able to have five at a time! Bigotes (like to concha but little more dense and had the pink koncha topping swirled inside, and powdered sugar on top) was SO GOOD! It looks like a croissant but it was actually a bread. Very distinct flavor and so so good and addictive! Super soft Conchas! So fresh and light and airy as well. Very easy to devour in under a minute, haha. Flan was soft and smooth and sweet as last time. No sugary sweet and just the right amount of caramel flavor and overall a beautiful one. Husband also got the square pastry with coconut on top and a dollop of vanilla pudding in the middle. He really loved it but I wasn't too much of a fan because of the coconut and pastry going on.

    Red tamal....

Friendly, bilingual help is a plus. Tasty tamales and pastries. Very fair price for scratch made.

Do they sell tres leches cake/ cupcakes?

I've not seen Tres leches there, but call ahead and maybe they can do a custom order of 12 if you ask. They do have some items that aren't permanent that sometimes you see and sometimes you don't, maybe this is one of those.

Sweet D got a cherry and an apple turnover delivered into the box. It is five days later. My sugar intake has dropped a lot. In our home baking we cut sugar ingredients by half. Older Hopi bakers put in enough sugar for a hint of sweet in their cookies. Modern bakers glaze them. I'll take those traditional ones. I can't speak on the customer service as we never left our table and our waited just walked over and got what we needed. We were pretty stuffed from our massive meal, but we decided on sharing a cup of gelato just to satisfy our sweet tooth. I peeked inside as our table was right at a little walkway from the restaurant to the bakery. Gelato is just one of many things they serve here. They also have all your typical Italian desserts. Cakes like tiramisu, pastries like Italian flag cookies, cookies like Italian wedding cookies, cannolis of different varieties, and of course gelato. What was suggested to us if we wanted gelato was the hazelnut flavor. I was expecting a little cup for the 6 of us just to get a taste, but what he brought over was a massive serving. I don't know how many scoops it was or even how much we even paid, but we all got plenty with some even left behind. Now this gelato was life changing. Probably the best I've had in the states. I know it's gotta be way better in Italy, but I'll take what I can when I can. Think of a Ferrero Rocher but in gelato form. It was delicious and I couldn't get enough of it. It wasn't overly sweet and it had a little crunch with bits of chocolate and hazelnuts. My sweet tooth was extremely satisfied after having dessert here. I have literally been thinking about that gelato since I left Phoenix. Luckily this company has locations in Texas so I will definitely be seeking out this gelato soon.

While I was still in NYC with my family on XMas eve eve, it hit me... I need to bring something besides wine everytime I go to their home. Nor a Southern dish. I wanted something unapologetically New Yaek. And what's more New Yawk than a box of classic Italian cookies? After asking a few Yelp friends where to find the best Italian cookies in Phoenix, The Sicilian Baker kept coming up. I called them last minute on Christmas Eve eve, having never been there before, totally sight unseen. First of all, their voicemail is hilarious. Truly. If you do nothing else, call just to hear it. It will instantly make you want to order something. Once I reached a real person, I explained my situation, that I wouldn't be able to come in beforehand, I needed a beautiful cookie tray for about 14-16 people, and I had a few must have preferences. Without hesitation, they said, "We got you." I was assured it would be ready when I landed on Xmas eve. Sure enough, after my partner picked me up from the airport, we headed straight to The Sicilian Baker. Parking right out front, a huge plus. As soon as you pull in, you're greeted with Frank Sinatra playing, not just inside, but even in the parking lot. It sets the tone immediately. We walked in, gave my name, and within minutes a lovely young person brought out my tray. Ten minutes later, we were on our way. Easy. Efficient. Warm service that made me actually grab a small box of cookies to drop my besties home on the way outta there. I didn't even realize at first that there's a sit down restaurant next door where you can relax and enjoy something. Great to know for next time ;) . Now, let's talk about the cookies. Yes, they are on the pricier side, but every single dollar was worth it. The tray was robust. Classic Italian pastries across the board like lobster tails, tri-colored almond cakes, cannolis, and all the favorites you hope for when you're trying to impress a room full of potential inlaws. And impress it did. The moment I walked in with that tray, it was a hit. People were already claiming which pastries they wanted, plotting what they'd take home, and hovering before dinner was even finished. There was more than enough for 16 people, grand is the only word for it, which is my style 1,000%. To this day, they're still talking about those cookies which makes me phenomenally proud (and humbled). I say this in all my reviews, "I hate almost everything. I'm discerning. I'm critical. And when something truly represents what I stand for - quality, authenticity, and heart, I will shout it from the rooftops". The Sicilian Baker delivered New York level excellence in Phoenix! Do not walk, runswiftly to this place if you need a gift, a show stopping dessert, or simply want to treat yourself. I cannot wait to go back. Highly, highly recommended.

The pastries on the shelves literally speak to you, they actually beg YOU to "pick me, pick me". Your biggest dilemma here, will be how do you want to eat your gorgeous calories. These delicate pastries are absolutely delightful. We got three... 2 for there, 1 for home. Waaaaa! It was such a far drive we should have gotten 6! Storytime: They are VERY hygenically aware - a bit over the top -- but I do appreciate that, especially since they are self serve to the public (the public I don't really trust when it comes to hygine, lol). Even though it's Scottsdale, I am still skeptical. Ok, here's the protocol: You are suppose to open up the pastry doors, use tongs and put your little blessing of a selection your tray, then you pay at the counter. (BTW, this self serve part is not very French!) A few people that were choosing their pastries were a bit rude, hogging the windows, not getting out of the way for others, chatting in front of the doors blocking others from being able to make a choice and letting their kiddo press up against the glass witht their fingers and mouth. I know, I know, this place is like DISNEYLAND for Pastries.... it IS TOTALLY EXCITING! I don't blame the cute kiddos for their excitement. I turned into a 4 year old here as well. I am just sharing the experience! Then when one of the 'overly bejewled kinda oblivious ladies" went up to pay for her chocolate croissant, and asked for it to be warmed -- she was told "that can't happen, because the croissant might explode in the oven and they don't ever heat the pastries that have fillings!" The shocked woman, could not believe that. After she expressed that she didn't want it if it wasn't going to be heated, the man behind the counter took her pastry away and told her what other pastries she could pick out to be warmed. She insisted that she would put her chocolate croissant back on the shelf as "she didn't touch it." The guy behind the counter, said, "Oh no, we can't do that. If it comes off the shelf and if you don't want it, because we can't warm it, we have to throw it away!" She was appalled that A. they would not warm it B. That he wouldn't let her return it to the shelf for another to have and C. That he was going to throw it away. I wanted to sweetly suggest to her, 'Why don't you just eat that gorgeous scrumptios thing? It will be great even at room temp.' However, she looked a little aggressive so I didn't speak my thoughts outloud. I don't hold that against the shop. I thought to myself all the work late at night and early in the morning that went into making these gorgeous pastries! Whomever is up baking them is a real gem in this world. THEY are literally ART! Parisian streets are lined with gorgeous pastries, but American's can hardly ever find a shop like this one. Let's LOVE THESE PEOPLE!!!!! I fell in love with watching the cake baker frost the rainbow cake. I thought, "this would be such a fun job!" See my video : ) She is so talented and so fast. I wanted to take a class from her! I do think it would be nicer if a person behind the counter served up the pastries, but in truth they have way too many choices probably to do that. However, they could put a sample out in a case, and keep the ones they serve to customers in the back, like a dougnut or bagel shop. Just pastries for thought! Enjoy this place. I wish so much we had one in Seattle. I was visiting Phoenix when I found this treasure chest of a place. Absolutely WONDERFUL! PS the man behind the counter didn't give my Mother in Law her turkey baget she ordered, after we paid for it. Waaaa.... that was a bummer and it was too far across town to go back. I don't hold it agains the adorableness of the shop and still give it 5 stars and still will go back everytime I come back home. He was brand new and being trained and we didn't think to look inside our pastery box... we had just assumed it was in there, only to find out, when we got home it wasn't. Regardless, 5 stars and these pastries and the chefs deserve the rewards!
