Great local Panaderia. Mom and popps family owned. The people are nice, and the bread is nicer. The conchas are soft, fluffy, and just the right sweetness. I love how fresh everything is, and the cochas I got are still warm. They have many different flavors of empanadas. All of them are good. Can't go wrong here.

The man at the front is really nice! Ordered a small cake for our engagement dinner and it was delicious. Small family run bakery but everything looks delicious. They have a variety of baked goods and small cakes and flan slices for purchase to try in case you are on the fence over a cake. The tres leches cake was amazing, nice and fluffy and moist with the tres leches, but not overwhelmingly sweet, just the perfect amount! We will definitely be back!

The best place to get tres leches! The owner is the kindest man. He took my order when I came into the shop to order a cake. We ordered a tres leches cake for our engagement party. It was perfect! Not too sweet, perfectly moist. We had the vanilla tres leches. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The shop is a little hole in the wall. Very clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Easy parking. Will definitely order all our cakes here from now on.

Came in wanting some cake with pink frosting & sprinkles that is available at some Mexican bakeries and even though they didn't have it, their other items were probably the best I've had in PHX. The owner was so sweet and friendly. Happy to make suggestions and answer any questions I had. I ended up grabbing a classic concha, a guava empanada, apple empanada, and chocolate tres leches. Everything was great. The bakery itself and amount of items is small but everything is quality. Typically Mexican pastries are quite dry but these empanadas were soft and moist. Filling good, nothing was too sweet. Appreciated that the tres leches wasn't too sweet - nice contrast of cocoa and the refreshing leche. My 4 items came to be a little bit over $10.

Always looking for authentic Mexican bakeries and this place was spot on. Whole selection isn't huge, but they still have good items to choose from. The owner (or we assumed) was friendly and helped explain items if they didn't have a label. Reasonable priced and quality was fresh. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's small but that's all you need for pastries to go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got a little bit of our favorites to try and had no complaints.

I was searching for a bakery in the area and came across this place on Yelp after a few pages of results. So glad I decided on this bakery because the owner is such a friendly man and he seemed so proud of his business. I felt like a valued customer and it put me in such a good mood because I was dealing with another business that threw that term around too loosely prior to deciding I was going to eat my feelings. Anyway, get the flan. It's legit and such a large piece! I inhaled the concha on my drive home and the crumbs everywhere are worth it. Called my hubby and told him I needed him to shop vac my lap before I got out of the car - he was confused. Haven't gotten into the empanadas yet but the owner recommended the pineapple, apple and lemon. I bought pineapple and apple. For 5 items, my total came out to a little over $10. Seriously amazing. This is a small business I think you should support. I definitely will when I'm in the area. Not the nicest of strip malls but it's one of the nicest bakery owners. Go check it out!

Cutest pastries, under $2 each! Such a steal and the empanadas were huge. The owner working the front of the shop was extremely warm and nice to us. The sense of nostalgia is similar to when I am greeted and taken care of by aunties at the Cantonese bakeries from my childhood.

Delicious pan dulce from Carmen's Bakery. We also treated our office to a flan this week that was amazing and their chocolate tres leches is to die for. It is my birthday cake request every year. Owner is the nicest man and we love supporting our local family bakery.

Just an amazing bakery. From the friendly owners to the baked goods. Doesn't really get any better than Carmen's in this part of Phoenix.

I got the peach cobbler cupcake, which was almost $7, and for that price I was definitely expecting more. The texture was honestly so strange. The outside was dry and crumbly, while the inside had this really dense, gummy/doughy texture. Somehow it was dry and doughy at the same time. There were actual pieces of peach in it, but I could barely taste any peach flavor. Overall, it just didn't have much flavor at all. I'm not sure if it was specifically the flavor I chose or if it's because I'm not really used to vegan baked goods. I can definitely appreciate that they offer options for people who are vegan, have allergies, or have certain dietary restrictions and still want to satisfy their sweet tooth. But for me personally, the taste and quality just didn't justify paying almost $7 for one cupcake. The customer service didn't really help the experience either. Since it was my first time, I asked the girl at the front what their best sellers were and what she recommended. I was genuinely trying to make conversation and get some guidance on what I should try, but she wasn't very helpful or engaging. It honestly felt like I was talking to a wall. Overall, it's a cute spot and I appreciate what they offer for people with dietary restrictions, but between the price, texture, lack of flavor, and customer service, it just wasn't for me.

I am infamous in the family for my dessert rxtravagance. But I share with all at our table. Take your choice! Our niece got cannoli, I got lidded shortbread custard cups, vanilla and almond. Sweet D got a cherry and an apple turnover delivered into the box. It is five days later. My sugar intake has dropped a lot. In our home baking we cut sugar ingredients by half. Older Hopi bakers put in enough sugar for a hint of sweet in their cookies. Modern bakers glaze them. I'll take those traditional ones. When I say the shortbread cup with custard was too sweet for me, that's my 21st century palate speaking. The almond cup was a buy-again item for me, still sweet, very almond. The cherry turnover was flaky, the filling tart, oozing fillng and cherries. The gold medal, blue ribbon "I'd buy this again, for sure is the apple turnover. I can't speak on the customer service as we never left our table and our waited just walked over and got what we needed. We were pretty stuffed from our massive meal, but we decided on sharing a cup of gelato just to satisfy our sweet tooth. I peeked inside as our table was right at a little walkway from the restaurant to the bakery. Gelato is just one of many things they serve here. They also have all your typical Italian desserts. Cakes like tiramisu, pastries like Italian flag cookies, cookies like Italian wedding cookies, cannolis of different varieties, and of course gelato. What was suggested to us if we wanted gelato was the hazelnut flavor. I was expecting a little cup for the 6 of us just to get a taste, but what he brought over was a massive serving. I don't know how many scoops it was or even how much we even paid, but we all got plenty with some even left behind. Now this gelato was life changing. Probably the best I've had in the states. I know it's gotta be way better in Italy, but I'll take what I can when I can. Think of a Ferrero Rocher but in gelato form. It was delicious and I couldn't get enough of it. It wasn't overly sweet and it had a little crunch with bits of chocolate and hazelnuts. My sweet tooth was extremely satisfied after having dessert here. The shell had that perfect crisp snap, while the filling was silky, rich, and just the right amount of sweet. It was everything I had been dreaming about and then some. Walking into The Sicilian Baker always feels like stepping into a little slice of Italy. Between the gorgeous display of desserts and the irresistible aroma of fresh pastries, it's nearly impossible to leave with just one treat (don't say I didn't warn you! ).
