Came here for dinner and was not disappointed. Its like a cafeteria with a big variety of choices. We got jamon pizza, fried potatoes, fried squid, seafood paella, and a few other things. It was pretty busy and we had to scope the dining area out for a table. Everything was good! The fried potatoes and squid were cooked to order and piping hot when I got them. There was a bit of a wait while they cooked the food, but worth it. It's on one of the higher floors of El Corte Ingles and the dining area has a nice view of the surrounding area. We got a lot of food and it was super cheap too! Would definitely go back.

I don't believe anyone would expect a department store to have an extensive dining area, at least I didn't. I only heard about this place through my aunt who previously visited Barcelona. It's located on the 9th floor of El Corte Ingles. The best way I can describe this place is a fancy cafeteria. You grab a cart and stack it with trays then make your way around each stalls and order your food. There's a wide variety from salads to tapas to Asian to Italian. After gathering your orders, you pay at the end. I was shocked at how affordable it was. For 3 people, we ended up paying 32 euros. That included 2 entrees, 2 tapas, dessert, and drinks (see picture)! All of the dishes were delicious except for the roasted chicken and vegetables. The chicken was way too salty and the vegetables must have been steamed for too long that they were soggy. Regardless, this place is worth a visit. As an added bonus, there's a beautiful view of Barcelona from the windows!

This food market is at the top floor of El Corte Inglés. The view of Barcelona from this vantage point is phenomenal. I had a apple pastry to share with my friend, and of course Café con leche while taking in the beautiful morning rush on the streets below. Get a seat close to the window if you can and spend some time enjoying the view.

The cafeteria on the top floor of El Corte Ingles on Placa Catalunya commands an incredible view over Barcelona, and it's a surprisingly good place to go for a cheap meal in a clean setting. I came for lunch in the middle of shopping and loaded up at the salad bar with a variety of their prepared salads. The roasted pumpkin salad as well as the smoked salmon were my favorites, but they also had a nice raw cod with tomato salad, potato salad, shrimp salad, and a green bean salad. It's a great deal, as you can fill up your bowl for just 6,5 Euros, but it did look like the salad had been sitting around for a while, so don't expect the most freshly-prepared servings unless you come early.

A little confusing and cumbersome to order, but amazing food... especially the crispy cheese bread.

Thank goodness we had a reservation, otherwise the wait time for walk-ins was quoted to be 2-3 hours. We were seated at the counter, smack-dab in the middle of all the action. The drinks were just okay, but the tapas were great! We tried the anchovy dish, jamon, tomato toast, paella, padron peppers, spanish omelette, mussels, and finished with the crema catalana for dessert. All of the dishes were outstanding and they did not disappoint. Service was phenomenal and they were all very friendly and engaging with diners. They guided us on how many plates to order and stopped us from ordering too much, which I appreciate since we weren't sure how big each portion was. Would definitely come back if I had the chance!

The street outside this resturant is not safe in my estimation. I mean my beautiful daughter did get chased by "a newer uninvited resident." Inside? The best resturant in the city. Maybe in all of Spain. I could make a case for it to be THE BEST RESTURANT ON EARTH. (Except that title goes to Commanders Palace in New Orleans or Caviar Kaspia in Paris. But maybe not.) Great service. Great food. Great feeling place. Drawbacks? The neighborhood. The entrance to get in is AWFUL. The place is always too crowded and it can get very loud. Yet I am giving it the maximum stars? "Why Mancow," you ask. Ready? I don't know! Its just THAT SPECIAL.

We were led to the dining room upstairs. The menu has English descriptions beneath each dish. We ordered 10 dishes: Pan Con Tomate (bread with tomato and tomato sauce), Patatas Bravas (Spanish potatoes; not greasy, very tasty), Albondigas de la Yaya (meatballs with tomato sauce; very tender meat), Calamares a la Andaluza (fried squid; nicely cooked and not rubbery, like them alot), Bastoncitos de Pollo (homemade chicken nuggets with BB sauce; crispy and tender, tasty BB sauce), Empanada Compesina (not too crazy about this one), Empanada Picante (spicy meat; it is okay), Spaghetti Carbonara (very soft, lots of sauce; nice dish), Yakimeshi (rice with squid and shrimp; my favorite!), and Macareno (hamburger, doble cheese, lettuce, tomato, bacon, and fried egg; very juicy, mouth watering and very American hamburger!) Water is a very pricey item in Europe. We ordered three bottles of water at 2.30 EUR or 2.60 USD each. We did get 30% off our bill! The server was friendly, patient, polite, and very warm. The dishes were reasonably priced. We had a wonderful dining experience at this place. Highly recommended if you visit the area.

Second trip back to Barcelona. Had to make the right restaurant choices for my favorite tapas…read moredishes. I was definitely right on the mark as all restaurants I've walked by before dinner wasn't as crowded as this. And this place had a line out the door. Pan con tomate (toasted bread with tomato spread) was done sooo right here because they used crisp brioche bread and the tomato spread had a nice balanced ratio of olive oil blended into it. The patatas bravas (brave potatoes) took me back to the first time I had this in 2018. Such good crisp skin, soft fluffiness and that aioli mayo signature sauce on top - I swear I feel they make their own sauce for this dish. Grilled octopus here is special as instead of a tentacle - you get a fatty piece with multiple cuts of the octopus. Even better just as you would get multiple pieces of fatty toro in an omakase. I just loved the ease of dining in Barcelona where you share small intricate flavored plates with a glass of wine to balance these dishes. It was a nice long but roomier restaurant in the back. Very deceptive to the eyes but in a good way. You get to see the chefs cook near you that makes you appreciate the work of art put into the food. And can't forget the oxtail dish that's uniquely in the form of a patty and broken up into shredded meats. Fabulous to everything.

Ziryab seemed to fit the bill, so we made plans to stop here during our first night in the city. Ziryab is located close to the Gothic Quarter, on side street. It's kind of inconspicuous from the outside, but the interior gives way to a really welcoming space. The restaurant is separated into two main areas, with an earth-tone color scheme that has a rustic, almost cave-like aesthetic. The high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows keep the dining room open and spacious. The tapas menu had a good selection, and we decided on several items: pan con tomate, sweet potato rolls, chicken cannelloni, bacon-wrapped figs, croquettes, falafel, and a charcuterie board. All the tapas were great - my favorites were the chicken cannelloni, pan con tomate, and the charcuterie board. The cannelloni especially was a standout - definitely a unique dish, and the chicken was super flavorful. We opted for dessert, and got the feta whip cheesecake - this was great as well. The combination of tang and sweet was a good finisher to our meal. Service was great - everyone was friendly and our dishes were served at a good pace. Overall, I'm glad I tried out Ziryab - the tapas were delicious and atypical of ones you find elsewhere in Barcelona. I would have no qualms returning here for another meal.
