After a week straight with a steady diet of Spanish food and Tapas, we were ready for a change and carving Italian food. Thanks to Yelp we found La Tagliatella and it was just what the doctor ordered! They're menu is in both English and Spanish; a good thing for those of us who find that requesting "Dos cervezas, por favor" uses up their working knowledge of Spanish ;-) Tip: La Tagliatella has a delightful 'roll your own" option where you select a sauce and then the pasta to go with it. All the food we tried was delicious, service was exceptional, and the prices were very reasonable - for under a hundred euros four of us had dinner with appetizers and two bottles of wine. read more

There was a nice atmosphere in the resturant and the meal I ordered was very delicious. I ordered the Lomo Conzenza which is pasta with conzenza sauce and lamb. The sauce tasted a little sweet which caught me off guard but was delicious nonetheless. The lamb was also delicious and easy to cut into. Came here based off of the 4-Star rating. A bit disappointed as the pasta was not as hearty as we were expecting. Highlight: deep fried gnocchi. The deep fried gnocchi was seasoned just right and paired well with the sangria. It was neither over cooked or under cooked. Best dish of the evening. The risottos and pastas were disappointing. A few people ordered the duck risotto and there was maybe one tiny shred of duck. Another person ordered the shrimp risotto and there was one shrimp. The risotto and pastas were cooked just perfect, not too soggy or undercooked. However, the dishes lack ingredients. This may also just be the way they serve pasta. read more

Let's start with the positives. The restaurant is lovely, with nice lighting and decor. The waiter was very nice, and advised us to order less food than we otherwise would have. Much appreciated. Then the food came. We ordered a salad and 3 pastas. The gnocchi with cream sauce was the only edible dish, and to be generous, it was average. The salad was not fresh. Brown lettuce, very old, flavorless and shapeless tomato. At first I thought it was a marinated pepper. Rigatoni with bolognese sauce tasted of nothing-no tomato flavor, no meat flavor-nothing. The worst; however, was the tagliatelle with olio and shrimp. This tasted like instant ramen, flavor packet not included. I'll eat just about anything, and I could not eat this. Absolutely terrible. It's clear they are using very poor quality ingredients with very poor technique. It seemed like a different restaurant than others were reviewing. All restaurants can have an off night. Stumbled on this gem when Gresca could only give us a spot at the sad looking side counter. Grabbed a table outside near the people warmer and had a fabulous meal. Started with the antipasto plate and I really did not want to share the mozzarella or the marinated tomatoes after taking a bite. My friend and i both got the namesake pasta. I got the red pesto sauce with tomatoes, basil, olives, and guanciale. My friend got the truffle sauce. Portions were hearty (we could have split a single order), and the pasta was perfectly cooked and delicious. We also split the house tempranillo... for 10 euro a bargain. Lots and lots looked good on the menu. Only downside was getting panhandled a couple of times, but no one was particularly aggressive. If this would ruin your meal, the inside did look lovely. read more

What cuisine to default to when you're tired of Spanish food when in Spain? Italian of course! We finished up at nearby Casa Batllo and was looking for somewhere nearby that wasn't tapas for dinner. We Yelped around and found La Tagliatella. We waited outside a few minutes before they opened and then walked in. The restaurant is quite spacious and has a European decor adorned with lots of red and gold. The menu was very extensive and portions huge. You had the ability to choose which pasta you wanted (tons to choose from from unheard of noodles to different variations of stuffed pastas) and which sauce combination to top your pasta with. Also popular are their huge pizzas, and they also offer assorted meats. It was a tough choice but I went with the tagliatelle with a a tomato, mascarpone sauce with pancetta. He went with a spaghetti with a divine truffle sauce topped with a fried egg, shavings of Parmesan, and caviar. I was thinking about going with a foie ravioli or another truffle sauce pasta dish but was afraid it may be too rich. The restaurant does not give complementary bread and we were going to order a salad, but refrained. Good thing we didn't since the portions are huge! Fairly quickly we were presented with our huge bowls of pasta. I always love tagliatelle! My sauce was nice and light and you can never go wrong with perfectly salted bits of pancetta. Some of the noodles were sticking together though, but no biggie. His spaghetti with truffle sauce was the favorite though. The fragrant truffle sauce was also prominent in taste and a fried egg makes everything better with the oozy yolk covering the pasta. We both were stuffed so we only asked for two to go boxes and asked for the check. Service was fine, and they have free wifi too. And after a few hours, I totally divulged in our leftovers back at the hotel. If you want a break from tapas, I'd highly suggest La Tagliatella for affordable and delicious Italian cuisine. There are so many options for pasta dishes, you can choose the type of pasta you want with the type of sauce you want, and let me tell you...there are so many options!!! There are at least over 10 options for each, I suggest the gnocchi with the mushroom sauce or pesto sauce. If you don't want pasta, choose from their menu filled with different types of pizzas, and the salads are superb! I got one which had a huge chunk of fried goat cheese on it with sugar glazed tomatoes. I destroyed the desserts each time I was there, even though I was so full. We visited this place in January 2018 for dinner. It is a lovely building. The food was good but cold. I had rigatoni with rustica sauce. The waiter was very good but completely overworked. He was one person handling at least 25 people and doing everything himself - taking orders, bringing drinks and food, taking payments, and clearing tables. The WiFi is free but be careful - like every free WiFi, they want your information. You can get around it - just read the small print. We were underwhelmed by the whole experience and decided to leave without dessert or coffee. read more

I truly wanted something besides tapas in Barcelona and I picked this place. The portions are huge and probably the only place that allows you to take food home. I have tried the papardelli pasta with black truffles and ham. The taste was good but the pasta was brought to the table cold and that was not very appetizing. My friend that lives in Barcelona had pasta carbonara. I have tried it and it was also cold and the sauce was runny, not your typical carbonara. Not a very good experience overall. read more

I was getting tired of tapas and this was a very good find! Pasta comes in a huge portion. You choose pasta and sauce from many different kinds! Pizza has some interesting topping combinations. I tried a pasta with cream sauce and egg on top, and pizza with eggplant with balsamic drizzle. Pasta needed a bit of kick but the pizza was great! Tapas were fabulous in Spain, but after many a tapas filled day it was nice to try something different. I believe this is one of many locations in Spain (or at least Barcelona). Staff was very friendly, lively atmosphere, and although the combinations of ingredients were a little strange to me (maybe more authentic? not sure but definitely not what I am used to seeing in the US) the ravioli and the pizza we had were delicious. The highlight for me was the homemade cheesecake - again, different from what I am used to when ordering cheesecake but so delicious. It was the consistency of yogurt, served in a glass with some berries on the bottom and graham cracker type cookie pieces. Our waiter spoke English pretty well and the bill for 2 including the pizza, ravioli, cheesecake dessert, and a glass of wine came to only 37 euros. read more

Wandered in here my first night in Barcelona. Staying it far from here and was looking for good food at good pricing. Saw the reviews and peeked inside. Warm inviting and friendly wait staff. Thy spoke good English with took the stress out of menu "point and hope". They also gave me an English menu too. Food is amazing. The pasta portions were a bit on the large side but had that wonderful homemade taste. You select the pasta (unique plus traditional options) then pick the sauce. Everything tastes wonderful. I have eaten in this place a couple of times over my 3-week stay in Barcelona. Overall it is a good experience. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is quite nice, and the food is very good. I have eaten the pizza, ravioli w/ amatriciana sauce, veal w/ four cheese sauce as well as balsamic reduction, and some of the salads. Keep in mind I went with family and tried a little bit of everyone else's food and did not eat all of this on my own. The ravioli amatriciana in my opinion was just delicious. A tomato based sauce w/ onion and bacon... WOW, that bacon stands out and gives it a wonderful deep, rich meaty taste. I would definitely put this on my list of good Italian food if you find yourself in the neighborhood. Apparently they have a couple of locations around the city. I cannot speak for the others, but the one I went to was delicious. Good appetite my friends! Came back to visit summer 2013 and my review stands. The food is delicious and the service is great.
