    Gnocchi
    Amy L.

Barcelona is full of good food, but unfortunately this place is not one of them. The staff were friendly but the food was wildly overpriced and didn't taste very good. We got a dish with cheese and 3 slivers of anchovies for over 15 euros! Definitely a rip off. Also, the two pastas we ordered were not good. The gnocchi had too much cheese and that was the only flavor in the dish. The dish with mussels was quite bland and had only a few mussels. Both dishes were expensive, considering you're only really getting noodles. The only thing I'd recommend here is their lemonade.

If you're looking for good Italian food served in a cozy kitchen setting, look no further! Food: If you eat nothing else here, please have the ham with truffle honey and manchego. It was out. of. this. world! I wish I could have bottled that truffle honey and taken it with me - it was light (not too sweet) and really flavorful. As a mother to a (now deceased) pet rabbit, I did not try the rabbit fettucine, but my husband loved it. I was not a huge fan of the fusili pasta - it was over cooked and had the definite appearance of having been microwaved... But no matter; by the time the fusili showed up I had stuffed myself with delicious bread, ham, and cheese! Atmosphere: If you sit in the back room, which I recommend, it is literally as though you are sitting in your grandmother's kitchen. It is the cutest little restaurant! Service: Wonderful! Very friendly and helpful. Though we stayed until closing (midnight), at no point did we feel like we had overstayed our welcome.

Important things to know... 1. You will have a hard time finding this place unless you've got it locked down with an offline map app (thank you maps.me) 2. The servers here have limited English, so be prepared to fuse English, Spanish and Italian to get through. Le Cucine Mandarosso is a very tiny Italian place tucked down a tiny Barcelona alleyway. When we arrived late one April night, it was the only place open in the alley. As we sat down, the server came over with the day's menu written on a chalkboard. She did her best to translate into English as she went down the list. We started with a plate of three different burratas (16.50 €). Because of the language barrier, we're not entirely sure which was which, but we believe one was a standard burrata, one had onions in it and one had a very smoky flavor, possibly with some meat(?) included. For my entree, I went with trofie with pesto (12 €) - a dish I'd first had in Cinque Terre. You don't see trofie much in the U.S., but it's a tiny pasta noodle that's kind of corkscrew shaped. I really liked it. The basil in the pesto tasted fresh. We ordered a bottle of the house white wine (12 €), which was fine. It was delivered to our table in a kind of frozen sleeve, like a beer can coozy or whatever. Total damage for two - 56.70 € One weird thing about Le Cucine Mandarosso is that there's really nowhere for the servers to hang out behind the scenes, so we had the three employees standing behind the counter, just inches away, kind of staring at us while we ate. It's not their fault. Seems like they have nowhere to go. My fiancee was oblivious, since she had her back to them, but it just felt a little cramped. The servers were all very kind and patient as we worked through our various language barriers. If you're looking for a good Italian option in Barcelona, this definitely qualifies.

Pasta with tomato sauce and basil. All fresh and delicious!

Great atmosphere! Lovely service and great food! The vegetables lasagna, some red wine. All super simple , small and so good! Good things comes in small packages

Spaghetti alla Antonella (tomato, garlic, olive oil, Parmesan)

I had a delightful meal here the night before the Mitja Marato de Barcelona. When I arrived, they did not have a record of my Friday 9 p.m. table for 1 (confirmed via e-mail a few weeks prior), but despite saying they were fully booked for the night, they accommodated my reservation. I sat in a table in the front section, so did not get to see the back. One of the servers explained the menu in English to me (familiarity with Italian menu terminology helped too). I ordered a vegetable antipasto dish (nice selection of broccoli, red peppers, onions, eggplant, and sweet potato) and spaghetti alla Antonella (tomato, garlic, olive oil, parmesan). The spaghetti was fantastic: toothy pasta enrobed in a rich combination of all of the described flavors. Portions are ample; it would be difficult to leave on an empty stomach. Along with some house red wine, I felt completely comforted and fueled for my race the next day. I always eat pasta before races, so was grateful for a reason to take a break from tapas while in Barcelona. Note: it could be because it's a small place with a small staff, but service (while always friendly) was a bit on the slow side, so just be prepared.

I literally still dream of this place, best Italian food i have ever had, so fresh and we enjoyed every bite. We loved it so much we ate here multiple times during our stay in Barcelona. It is definitely a must if you are staying in Barcelona, you will not be disappointed. The food and wine very reasonably priced, I can't wait to go back one day Gracias por la experiencia.. Side note definitely make reservations ahead of time if possible. The restaurant itself is not very big and can fill up quickly.

We came here wanting some Italian after eating tapas for a few days in a row. And we're. It disappointed. They don't open til 9pm- we walked in right at 9 and they sat us. Although we were seated I'd recommend reservations- they turned away 8 people after us so I think we just got lucky. They recommend sharing an appetizer and they both getting entrees and this worked well. We got he burrata and it was by far the best burrata I've ever had. So fresh. We also had the carbonara which was so rich and good and a homemeade pasta with asparagus and cheese which was yummy. We didn't stay for dessert as we were exhausted and stuffed but I would recommend this place for good Italian!

Absolute favorite Italian place in Barcelona. It's so good that theres always a line. If you go on a Weeknd, try to reserve because even if you go early (they open at 130), youll probably have to wait until 3 or later because other people reserved ahead. Weekdays no reservations, So just go early What's so good about here?? Authentic Italian pasta, most awesome cake and good coffee. And the best is that you can have all 3 together as a set menu for €11! Quite affordable because the dish of pasta will be big and enough to fill most people, And the cake is a good quality one, Not made in bulk. I've been going there for 5 years every time I go to Barcelona (which is not too often unfortunately), And they havent changed the price nor the quality (or they may have improved it). Onyl thing I hate is the wait:p

Lasagna with a basil pesto ricotta with shaved almonds

Came across this place randomly and had to make a reservation for 2 nights later because they were fully booked. With a restaurant being booked for two days backed to back I decided to take the opportunity and make the reservation for when it was available. The restaurant had people lined up at the door with walk-ins being pushed away. The atmosphere is cool, brick walls with rustic tables very nice. I ordered and The food was amazing!! I ordered the lasagna with a basil pesto ricotta cheese with shaved almonds in between the layers of noodles. Such a great update to such a classic dish. The service was nice- they allowed you to take your time at the tables even though they were booked. The staff was English speaking which helped and sped up the process of ordering. Amazing Italian food and moderately priced. You won't be disappointed but be sure to make a reservation.

Amazing! The ambiance and decor is very charming. I am Italian and I was extremely pleased with every one of my orders. We had the burrata as an appetizer followed by Paccheri ripieni and gnocchi. We ended the meal with a glass of vin santo. We plan to come back to try the homemade fettuccine and the fritti! Buon appetito! Ps Homemade pasta is only on Sundays!

Front door - no big sign so be on the lookout

This is a great Italian restaurant for dinner. It has a very homely vibe. They don't have a big sign or anything, so make sure you look up the directions (must walk from the main road through some alleys). The front room of the restaurant is pretty nice, it is decorated like a nice house. The back room is decorated like an old fashion kitchen. I sat in the back room and it really feels like you're in the kitchen of the restaurant, which was very quaint. The menu is in Italian, but the waiters can translate to English or Spanish. Not a very big selection on the menu, but everything my family ordered was delicious. They go for quality over quantity here. I got the Lasagna, and it was fantastic. I wasn't that hungry, but I ended up eating the whole thing (although the portions aren't huge). It tasted very fresh and high quality. As a Lasagna fan, I would definitely recommend this dish. My mom got the pesto gnocchi, and it was pretty good. There was a little bit too much pesto sauce, but the flavor was still good. My brother got the spaghetti with ham and white sauce (not sure what the official name of the dish was), and that was tasty as well. This is a good option for a lighter dish. Overall, I give the restaurant 4 stars, although I would give them 4.5 stars if possible. The service was great, the food was tasty, and the ambiance was original and enjoyable. It is romantic enough for a date, but also casual enough to go with a family. If they had more options on the menu, I would probably give it 5 stars.

Anniversary Dinner in Barcelona -- Pleasantly Surprised!…read more Celebrated our anniversary here at Luigi's while in Barcelona, and honestly, I was surprised that it wasn't as expensive as I expected for a nice sit-down spot in the city. Service was decent and the food came out at a good pace. We started with the Burrata salad (€14), which was super refreshing, especially with the balsamic vinaigrette. We also ordered the prosciutto pizza (around €14), which was simple, tasty, and hit the spot. Of course, I had to try the truffle pasta (about €13) -- creamy and comforting just the way I like it. Hubby ordered the seafood linguine (€15), and that was actually a standout -- light, flavorful, and packed with the perfect amount of shrimp. Overall, such a nice spot to enjoy Italian food in Barcelona without breaking the bank. Definitely a pleasant surprise for our anniversary dinner. Happy eats!

With plenty of time to review the menu, we decided to select a few entrees across their extensive menu. The Margherita pizza was excellent with a flaky outer crust and a medium rare interior dressed with fresh tomato's. The pumpkin ravioli was also superb with a hint of pumpkin in a butter sauce. The lasagna was decent and the presentation on the scallops fun. Conveniently located next door to a few hotels.
