Anniversary Dinner in Barcelona -- Pleasantly Surprised! Celebrated our anniversary here at Luigi's while in Barcelona, and honestly, I was surprised that it wasn't as expensive as I expected for a nice sit-down spot in the city. Service was decent and the food came out at a good pace. We started with the Burrata salad (€14), which was super refreshing, especially with the balsamic vinaigrette. We also ordered the prosciutto pizza (around €14), which was simple, tasty, and hit the spot. Of course, I had to try the truffle pasta (about €13) -- creamy and comforting just the way I like it. Hubby ordered the seafood linguine (€15), and that was actually a standout -- light, flavorful, and packed with the perfect amount of shrimp. Overall, such a nice spot to enjoy Italian food in Barcelona without breaking the bank. Definitely a pleasant surprise for our anniversary dinner. Happy eats! read more

I guess when your in Barcelona, Italian food doesn't make much sense but we landed in a great restaurant. With plenty of time to review the menu, we decided to select a few entrees across their extensive menu. The Margherita pizza was excellent with a flaky outer crust and a medium rare interior dressed with fresh tomato's. The pumpkin ravioli was also superb with a hint of pumpkin in a butter sauce. Had to come back again just to savor the wonderful food! This time I ordered a pizza with ham, olives, artichoke & burrata, it was delicious!! They provided hot chili oil and a side of rich red pizza sauce. Pure foodie Heaven! Service can be a bit slow but you can see just how busy they are and it's the kind of place you go to relax and not rush through a meal. Everything is made fresh to order with high quality ingredients, you can watch them make the burrata, pizza dough & slice the meats right from the front window and the open kitchen shows off the clay pizza ovens. The interior of the restaurant was clean, comfortable, and fairly typically decorated for an Italian restaurant. The service was sub-par. Our waiter was sour and generally short with us. Food and drinks were plunked on the table without a word. He was rolling his eyes at some of the other tables as he was taking their orders. This was uncharacteristic of the service we had in most of the other restaurants in the area. As for the food, it was mostly unremarkable. The Luigi salad was decent. The eggplant dishes we had were over cooked and extremely salty. Between the unenthusiastic service and the mediocre food, I would go elsewhere. Lots of options in this area of the city. read more

The menu outside caught out attention when walked by earlier in the day. It was decided to come back here for dinner which we did around 4:00pm. This is super early for local standards and the place was not very full. As usual, we were escorted to a tiny 2 seat table next to the main isle way so we asked for a bigger table away and was told that would not be possible. It was almost instantaneous that I started to beeline to the exit when the manager called us back and told us we could sit on larger table near the entrance. This convince my wife to stay so we settled in and perused the menu. They have an extensive selection of starters, salads and mains with a separate drink booklet. We ordered the mussels, mushroom risotto and seafood pastas. Each course came with perfect timing and served very elegantly by the manager each time clearing the used dishes. Each dish was served at a good temperature and very tasty. We ended the meal with the panna cotta dessert. Overall a good place to have a different type of cuisine when you've got too much of the Spanish fare. read more

Almost Like Grandma Used To Make..... For our last of 5 nights in Barcelona, we went to Luigi's, an Italian restaurant steps from our hotel. If we realized what a good spot we had practically outside our door, that's where we'd have had dinner the 1st night AND the 5th night. Here are the pros and cons: - Pros: - Great location. Luigi's is a very popular family oriented Italian place centrally located along the popular Laietana Sreet between the Gothic Quarter and newer portion of Barcelona. - Large menu with something for everyone - Our food was excellent, though with one notable exception. Pasta filled with mozzarella cheese in a light tomato sauce ($19) and the house "Luigi" salad (14.50) were top notch. Bread was good. Great food at a very reasonable price. However, eggplant in the Eggplant Parmesan ($15) appetizer was hard to find among lots of cheese and sauce. - Service was friendly in an old school Mediterranean sort of way. When the pasta dish was delayed 15 minutes because "it got lost", our server brought us a dish of olives...then refilled our wine glasses(a bargain at $5 each)...and ended the meal with 2 gratis shots of limoncello and cake. Needless to say, he got a nice tip. - Cons: - Just the Eggplant Parmesan dish mentioned above Luigi's reminded us of many neighborhood Italian restaurants in our native New York City area.....in the best ways. We'd go back today if we didn't live 6,500 miles away. read more

Everything was perfect! My wife Christine, and I were in Barcelona celebrating our 25th Anniversary, with our daughter, Jennifer, and Luigi's on Via Laietana was the BEST restaurant on the trip! Hector, our server, was incredible. So professional, and with a great personality. He KNOWS exactly how to treat guests. Do all possible to keep him there- he represents Luigi's extremely well. In our first night in Barcelona walked by this place and there was a huge line in front so we decided to give it a try. The window has views of both of their pizza station and ovens and pizza looked great. We ordered a Margarita pizza and a spaghetti bolognese. We ordered the bolognese because the best we have ever had was in an Italian restaurant in Galicia so we have it a shot. The pizza had great flavor specially the dough but it was not crispy at all and rather soggy so dropping just slid right off so that was unfortunate. The Bolognese was ok but wife's sauce is better so overall 3.5 stars for food, 4 for service and 4.5 for ambiance. Update: we went back again today and the food was so good. We had the part chicken and ravioli de calabaza, which were both amazing. Food is a solid 4 just pizza crust not crispy but we had the pizza bread which is just dough without any sauce and that was bomb!! read more

We only seen our waiter once, when he took our order. We ordered margarita pizza, and eggplant pie for starter, and draft beer. Beer was good, but waiter never returned to order more beer! The starter came 10 minutes after the pizza and was too hard (raw) to eat. The pizza wasn't hot, Luke warm at best. Won't return. read more

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Colón and had a late lunch, so we weren't hungry for dinner until past 10pm. Unfortunately most of the restaurants around us had already closed their kitchens or were going to soon. We were recommended Luigi as it was close and their kitchen is open until midnight. We were seated right away. The inside was very nice and you could see the pizza-making in action! We didn't get any drinks other than water and got an order of Gnocchi alla sorrentina and a pizza siciliana to share between the both of us. The pizza was okay - the crust was chewy, the parmesan shavings were nice, but to be honest, I didn't really understand the walnuts and would've enjoyed the pizza more without them. But that could be purely taste preference. The gnocchi, however, was excellent! It was saucy, cheesy, pillowy, and melted in your mouth. If we ever go back, I probably try a different pizza but overall it was a nice place for a quick dinner! read more

We ordered several pizzas, they were decent but they weren't anything special. The burrata salad was good but could have used some balsamic to enhance the flavor. Luigi at this location is next to shops and stores so while walking around we decided to enjoy a nice late lunch. We didn't make reservations and just popped in to ask if they have anything available for today. It was crazy busy and we had to wait maybe about 15 minutes which wasn't bad. We got seated up the stairs and this restaurant is really pretty. Whoever made this place has an eye for architecture and also a very modern look. The food was splendid and the drinks were tasty! Decided to get a smoky drink that came in a glass and was filled with smoke. Also ordered some oysters, sashimi, clam pasta, and also a wrapped pizza style which was somewhat like a calzone. I was excited to find this place because it looks nice and is located in a great area and they had multiple gluten free pasta options including a ravioli. But the service was awful and the food was worse. The ravioli was cooked terribly and had an awful texture. I asked the server what sauce would go well with the ravioli and he offered no help at all, so I asked for a Parmesan cream sauce and the flavors were awful together. My drink was extremely sweet, which I'm sure some would appreciate. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it because it seems more of a tourist trap. The decor is nice and the atmosphere is lively. It isn't a terrible place, but I wouldn't justify the price, especially if you're looking for a good meal. read more

This restaurant was near my hotel and the signage looked so cute I had to stop in. The first time we went we didn't have reservations, but they were super welcoming and took great care of us. Our waiter, Martin, was amazing and very attentive. He even made some recommendations for us. We loved the food, no complaints at all. I felt like the prices were good for the amount and quality of the food. The second time we went, we made a reservation and I'm glad we did because it gets a little crowded on weekends. I loved the atmosphere, there's a dj too. Although the music is loud, it's not overwhelming and doesn't take away from the experience. This was a beautiful place to have some Italian dinner. I would only recommend their woodfire pizzas here. The margarita pizza was amazing. We all also had pasta but did not like our dishes. I ordered the Gorgonzola gnocchi pasta dish and it did not taste good at all. It had a sour aftertaste and the cheese was stinky like feet. My friend also had truffle pasta and did not like it. My husband and I, and another couple, dined here back on 8 December 2023. We were in Barcelona for a few days before going on a cruise. This restaurant was just around the corner from our hotel, H10 Madison. We had our share of tapas and other Spanish dishes, so we decided to dine at Luigi's. A friend of mine had also recommended the place. Our waiter brought out a small bowl of marinated olives to start. My husband and I shared a bottle of Pinot Girgio and the insalata burrata. He had the linguini vongole (clams) and I had the Canelloni pollo grandi. Everything was excellent. The burrata was a nice plump ball (mozzarella) with a fresh thick cream on the inside. The tomatoes were perfectly ripe. There was also a dollop of pesto sauce. The chicken was tender and was severed on top of a cream sauce and a drizzle of a berry sauce. My husband enjoyed the linguini with clams, nice and tender. The service by Pere was excellent, very professional. It's a big place (we were seated in the back area), but has a great atmosphere. This is the second night we tried to eat here. Their sign says open until midnight but this is not correct. We tried going there at 9pm but the guy behind the counter indicated they were closed.
